sslaymon 50 Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) Just wondering, since this is fairly new, is this allowed for girls that are not part of the high school wrestling team? We are starting a girls club program and some high school aged girls are interested. They however are not interested in joining the school's team but our club program. Would they be able to participate in this, or is it for high school team wrestlers only? And thank you for putting this together. Girls wrestling is on the rise because people like you, putting in the work to get things done. Edited September 27, 2017 by sslaymon
Ironbear 73 Posted September 28, 2017 Here's where we stood last year and going forward. We want one of the wrestling coaches from the high school to accompany and register the girls and represent that school. This is done for the safety of all the girls. Yes to your question it is open to all girls in high school.Thank you for that question. Thank you for the well wishes it is a huge team effort and well thought out to the tiniest detail to match the rules of the IHSAA. Your girls will be charged by the IHSAA 2pts for Reginals and State combined. Listen, if you have girls that want an even shot at a state title then this is it. It was a huge success last year and we look to double the numbers this year. The tourney is all class. Gary Myers IHSGW P.S Penn High School Womens Team won the title last year with Hamilton Heights as Runner-ups.

Ironbear 73 Posted November 14, 2017 Coaches, the girls must be a member of your high school team and the head coach must register your athlete. The head coach or your asst. coach must represent them on the mat as their coach. Your female wrestler must have 2 weigh-ins before the Regionals Jan 5th. In order to get 2lbs, they must have one scratch weigh in prior to Jan. 1 2018.

Ironbear 73 Posted December 5, 2017 That is a 138lbs weight class not 134lbs. It is a misprint on the flyer. I should have caught that. Sorry.
Y2CJ41 3,379 Posted December 5, 2017 Why do the girls need two scratch weigh-ins to participate, yet to participate in the IHSAA tournament you only need one? 1 McWrastlePants reacted to this
Ironbear 73 Posted December 6, 2017 Originally it was that their were fewer weigh ins. 4 instead of 6.
Ironbear 73 Posted December 6, 2017 But I have fixed that as it was a conversation I have been having for awhile. We will put up a new flyer that states 4 weigh ins with 1 scratch.

Shooter08 0 Posted December 8, 2017 Why should the girls even be required to have 4 weigh ins? The boys programs have events every week and weekend. The girls program currently does not have those type of opportunities. Otherwise we are making the girls either participate in boys events or simply be a spectator to get their weigh ins at a boys event. Just trying to help build the program in Indiana, we are on the right track!
Ironbear 73 Posted December 11, 2017 Please go and start registering your girls for the Regional Jan 5th. We have basically split I-70 if you are below I-70 then you are with the south regional and if you are North you will simple be in the North Regional. Just click on the tag for which one you are in and it will take you to track wrestling's log on site, We would like early registration. Top 4 qualify for the State Championships at Lawrence North Jan 12th. They need 4 weigh ins and one scratch weigh in to get the allotted 2lbs.Thank you. tskin 102 Posted December 19, 2017 Simple Question. Last year I had 3 girls who did not compete on Boys varsity team compete so didn't worry about it. This year I have one who is my varsity 106lber. Would wrestling in this event put her over her amount of weigh ins for IHSAA boys tourney?
Ironbear 73 Posted December 20, 2017 This event will charge the athlete just 2pts for regional and state together per IHSAA.
