  1. Speedy recovery General! On a positive note, tomorrow is Friday.
  2. Can you show us some examples of what these top 5 states do to support this or is the speculation?
  3. When things like this are said it is being looked at as is the current status. We don't know what our depth would look like if it was classed. This is what the argument is for class. Add numbers create depth. I love our current IHSAA state tournament. I'm not sure it would be as cool to watch with more than one class. I'm just not sure it's best for Indiana wrestling to stay single class. My son is an 8th grader and does not like the idea of classing for the same reason as most single class proponents.
  4. RE: Georgia. While 7 classes seems really high and really watery. Check out the team scores for Fargo 2019, this is from Flo. This is combined Cadets and Juniors. Georgia is on the rise nationally. Why? I'm not sure it's because it has 7 classes but it certainly isn't hurting them. Also funny that Minnesota is 2nd here as they have 7th graders winning state. Link is where I pulled from: https://www.flowrestling.org/results/6529893-2019-usmc-cadet-and-junior-national-championships/26737 Team Scores (Champs, All-Americans) Pennsylvania: 61 (2, 12) Minnesota: 51 (2, 12) Ohio: 50 (1, 10) Georgia: 42 (0, 9) Illinois: 40 (2, 9)
  5. Have you looked into Beat the Streets? Maybe that organization can help you get started? https://beatthestreets.org/
  6. This is my favorite Mattyb post in the history of Mattyb posts. LOL
  7. Casey get his 2nd win in the UFC with a unanimous decision of Manny Bermudez!
  8. Casey is also doing a meet n greet and the Jay County Fair on Friday I believe. I think Short Jay could confirm. Y2, we leave Mr. Patriot in the gym so all is safe.
  9. It has been pitched pretty recently as a regional that would qualify a wrestler for state. It was turned down at that time but I don't think it has been ruled out for the future. I'm sure someone that really knows the details could give you more info.
  10. We are planning on doing at least one next year.
  11. Would it help if one of your required qualifiers had to be in your section? I'm guessing that would be relatively tough to track and I'm not sure how much it would help. Just a thought.
  12. Casey is finally getting his shot! Former Jay County wrestler and two time placer is fighting this Saturday! https://www.mmafighting.com/2019/3/26/18282150/lfa-double-champ-casey-kenney-steps-in-to-fight-ray-borg-at-ufc-on-espn-2
  13. What are the main issues we are trying to resolve in Indiana high school wrestling? Rules changes should be directed towards fixing those issues. Reducing FF by removing opportunities seems like it is contrary to growing the sport of wrestling.
  14. He would have had to win a match to earn any points for being the alternate.
  15. Mason Winner - missing loss to Trey Sizemore, Cincinnati Lasalle 5-2
  16. It's the highest score for each SS in this scoring system that gets the auto bid. Not the actual tournament score.
  17. He goes by the name "Mr. Patriot".
  18. http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/quick resources/Enrollments & Classifications/Enrollments 19202021.pdf
  19. send me your email address in a message on here and I will get you some info.
  20. Parkway has been to several over the last couple of years.
  21. "rivals night" is actually Rival League night. It is basically a friendship type of event setup to get kids mat time. It's not a bracketed tournament by any stretch. It is for beginners and less experienced kids and parents. They run two hours and done on Friday nights. It's a great way for kids starting to get some mat time. It can be a little chaotic as there are no brackets and it literally is just getting kids matched up and out on the mat. It has worked well and all of the clubs that are part of the league have benefited from it. We started it with 3 or 4 clubs and it has grown to include around 7-8 clubs, with some surrounding clubs that don't host an event that compete in it as well.
  22. There was an update after that email. 2 lbs only.
  23. In past years they have been able to. If they are overweight they just move them up a weight class so as not to deny participation to any girl. I believe this was the case.
  24. Fruits are carbs, many vegetables are as well.
