Not a bad call... Tough call for sure. Mosley went from the center circle and backed out of bounds, twice. Had that stall call not ended the match, it wouldn't have even been talked about. The official just had the balls to make the call. Worst call ever?? I have a 170 lb ticket round match to show you...

Thanks big guy!! Our kids really buy in to the team aspect, today was just evidence and reward for all the time they put in.

I'd say in wrestling that 12-13 of the 14 brackets in every sectional (sometimes all 14) generally separate the best kids.  Of course there is an occasional bracket in which this doesn't happen, but this is not the norm.  There are 448 sectional brackets and of those there are usually only a few that don't have the best kids separated.

A random draw is just awful (I know most other sports always talk about seeding).  With a random draw with 8-10 teams you might be lucky to separate the best kids in 2-3 of the 14 weights.

No matter what criteria is put in place, you are not going to get 100% of the brackets correct.

It seems like addressing specific situations/coaches that try to take advantage of the criteria seems like a better option than abandoning seeding all together.

Chris Davis (Floyd Central) was one of the officials at the HHC tournament this weekend. He is an outstanding official.  Very decisive with his calls, knows the rules, controls the wrestlers, table help and keeps the match moving.  We travel a lot with our schedule and see officials from all corners of the state.  In my opinion, he is already one of the best out there, and I believe he is a first year official.  He is a great addition to southern Indiana officiating.

The coaches you mentioned have done a phenomenal job, no question, and I respect them a lot... but these programs weren't starting from scratch. Youth coaches at Brownsburg built up their club before Snyder arrived, Penn has a tremendous enrollment to draw from, and Portage has exceptional tradition from the Coach P days as well. I'm not downplaying what these coaches have done, these teams have accomplished great things, but these examples are far from the norm.

From experience I can say it takes an unbelievable amount of work to start from essentially scratch and build up a program that can compete on a yearly basis. Even then a competitive team only goes so far. You have to put an additional amount of work in promoting your meets to increase attendance. Including elementary and middle schools in your meets will go a long way, but takes tons of leg work, planning, and persistence. I'm pretty confident in saying that adjusting scheduling rules to include more weeknight duals will not increase attendance nor participation levels. However, working at increasing attendance at your currently scheduled weekday meets COULD increase participation.

We have 6 weekday dual meets on our schedule. Our JV kids are lucky if they get a match in 2 of those 6 meets. If parents new to the sport don't like sitting in a gym most of a day on a Saturday to watch their kid wrestle a couple matches, you can bet they like even less the 45 minute drive on a weeknight to sit in a gym for an hour and not see their kid wrestle at all.

    Believe me, I'm well aware...

I feel we should have been included. I was surprised when we didn't earn enough points to be automatic bids to begin with, but we did have some tough losses at crucial times in the tournament series. No fault of our kids, we just didn't have our best matches at some critical times. It wasn't lack of preparation or effort, it just happens sometimes, it's wrestling, we lost to good kids. In the grand scheme of things, we aren't going anywhere that's for sure, we are just getting started.

I honestly thought the committee would see us as the best team that didn't get an auto invite. It didn't happen. Fine. It's our job to see that we are not in this position next year. Like Colat said in the flo video, gotta be 10 points better than the official... Same mentatility applies here.

I'm not a keyboard warrior so I won't defend this position all day with replies, but I would like to give my opinion. Posting on here is generally a lose-lose opportunity if you don't spend all day defending it, but here goes.

I think Indiana should make an effort to put the best team out there, especially since it's hosted in Indiana. Joe, back handing the efforts of those who put the Indiana Gold and Blue together is a bit counter productive. I think it's great that there were a lot of Indiana kids who had the opportunity to compete, but an effort in state should be made to get the best team together.

I understand Walton, if he can't make the wt then that's valid. Beyond that, put the best kids on one team.
