  1. From everything I have read Howe is officially back and ranked 2nd in America behind Burroughs. He said he would not return if he did not believe he was healthy enough to repeat his national title. Also, I do not believe he is one of Indiana's finest I believe he is Indiana's Finest wrestler and it is going to take a stellar wrestler to dethrone him. Howe was poetry in motion.
  2. Do we know 100% that Team State will not be back next year? If that is the case then I am sad that I did not attend this event today- it could've been my first and last one for the ages... I have numerous friends from Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky that think the concept is amazing. They wanted to attend also but our colleges academic load wouldn't let us. Its sad that it may be at its end. However, congrats to Perry Meridian for the win. I am not extremely fond of the falcons but darn they are just good and extremely well coached.
  3. Do you like Sims versus roach match up? Or do you think Sim's gets away with the major? It is an interesting match up.
  4. Add Evan Smiley to the list I would expect him at 125 or 130.
  5. Fan or not of the Rankings guy I don't seen anything blatantly wrong with his statements. I do not believe he had any malicious intent and he is being bashed probably more than necessary. For people bashing him so openly... I wonder do you use the rankings as a resource during the season? He provides a valuable service that requires a lot of time but also in doing that he makes quality judgments on high school wrestling.
  6. I just realized that I did not include Team State in McKinley's record at all. So you can add a couple more wins to that list if you'd like. I am not 100% if Team State wins count toward official records- anyone else more educated than myself know the answer? But to answer your question Kirk Johnson (again disregarding team state wins) is 131-18. Even with Team State wins added to his record it will be extremely tough to hit the 200 mark, however, not at all out of the realm of possibility that he could hit the 190 win mark. Still an extremely impressive feat.
  7. Jared McKinley if he stays healthy and wins every single match would get really close. His total record is 148-6. So he is averaging just over 50 matches a season and this year finished his season off with 53 wins and a state title. So if he ends up 54-0 next year he will finish with a total record of 202-6 and a 2nd state title. But that is a lot of what if's.
  8. In my opinion the best high school wrestler in Indiana History is Andrew Howe. He wrestled fantastic competition and probably would have been a four time had he wrestled anyone else in the finals beside the amazing Senior Reece Humphrey. Also, the only individual to tech is way through state his junior year and almost repeated the feat his senior year I believe. But to stay on topic I am going to go with Alex. However, I do not want to take away anything from Jason since he definitely did not avoid competition and dethroned at that time Indiana's best pound for pound wrestler in Cashe Quiroga in the semi's; but both are amazing wrestlers and deserve tons of respect.
  9. Howe wins this one. Two time national finalist in a tough weight class. Last year walked through the competition and Howe's offense is ever improving. Although isn't Howe hurt/out for the rest of the season? I heard he had a severe hamstring injury. If this is true it is very unfortunate because it was going to be another battle of the Titans between Howe and Burroughs. I also don't want to take away anything from Taylor. I have watched him on Big Ten Network and he is phenomenal and no doubt will make noise at NCAA's. But he is just a freshmen that is a lot to put on his shoulders at this point to dethrone a one time runner-up and champion in his freshmen year. No doubt Andrew Howe would be the toughest competition he would face this year but this match up will have to wait. I do believe it would be a great match they both wrestle different styles and are darn good at what they do. Both represent their teams and their home states extremely well on the mat, in the class room, and in public. I have only read great things about both of these extremely high level competitors.
  10. Does Perry, CP, or EMD have any real weak spots in their line up? I know for the most part their teams advanced pretty deep in the individual state tournament. I Will go with: Match 1: EMD Match 2: Penn (in a close one) Match 3: PM (looking forward to the McKinley and Keiffer rematch Match 4: Lawrence North Finals: EMD over Perry Meridian. I don't have any predictions on the scores. It is definitely going to come down to bonus points. But all the teams here are pretty solid from top to bottom and should be an amazing day of wrestling. I do believe Tsirtsis will be Lannert, however, I think it would be a huge win for EMD if they only receive a decision in this weight class and could possibly win them the meet.
  11. I think Perry is also getting lost in this mix. I believe Perry Meridian is definitely capable of winning it this year. Top to bottom of their line up they are tough. Even if EMD or CP makes it to the finals they will have an extremely tough team in Perry Meridian to contend with. Though I do believe EMD brings home another state title this year they as well as Crown Point will have to wrestle amazing to dethrone one or the other and then wrestle Perry Meridian and do it again.
  12. I am going to take LN over Delphi. Indianapolis area schools are typically tough and LN has some great wrestlers I see them definitely getting bonus points with Boston, Boston, and Rattay. I also wouldn't be surprised is Haskett got some bonus points for their team. I am not sure about the other wrestlers on their team but typically LN has a pretty good line up from top to bottom.
  13. Match 1: Roncalli vs. Perry Meridian. Match 2: Penn vs. Bellmont. Match 3: Evansville Mater Dei vs. Crown Point. Match 4: Delphi vs. Lawrence North. After watching the individual state finals and looking at the teams what are your picks for the champion of this tournament. I am going to pick EMD over Perry Meridian for the title. What is everyone else's picks?
  14. The wrestling was fantastic. Twin Brothers both winning state titles- one against their heated rivals EMD. Ayersman showing everyone what it means to have heart and the perseverance needed to be a champion. The Boston era has now been born. Tsirtsis walking his way through the state tournament. Trey Reese pinning his way through the state tournament. Neil Malloy taking his schools first state title- what an honor. This was a great finals and congrats to a true dark horse Garret Goldman whom I believe for the most part no one expected to make that much noise beating a field of Stevenson and Sliga to take the title.
  15. Maurer I believe left with a total of 9. 1 for football, and 8 for wrestling. Imagine that 9 blue rings- that is not only crazy but extremely impressive. He earned everyone.
  16. What teams are at the Bellmont Duals? I see Penn, Perry Meridian, Bellmont, Mishawaka, Castle... It can't be just 5. Who am I forgetting?
  17. It was 08' with Ulrey of New Pal, Runyon of Martinsville, and Deutsch of Columbia City. It was an amazing finals match and preview of the state finals between Runyon and Ulrey.
  18. How is Sims looking this year? Has he been hurt?
  19. If you lose in the first round of the tourney are you done for the day? Or is it double dip?
  20. Evan Smiley is going to be a great wrestler.
  21. You missed Ethan Raley at 130 ranked 11th in America. So that makes it look a lil more respectable.
  22. My brother will be wrestling in this tournament (for the host team Manchester) and he has told me numerous times that it is supposed to start at 2:00 pm. However, realistically don't expect wrestling til 3:00 pm. Does that help?
  23. Does anyone know the team scores? From results it looks as though it Perry walked through the tourney followed by BG in 2nd and Jeffersonville in 3rd?
  24. If he continues to improve at this rate, just as he did in high school, I would not be shocked at all to see him open up his offense even more next year and start teching some people.
  25. Evan Smiley is a 8th grader next year not a freshmen. But the Rankings Guy got it right he will definitely make some noise as a freshmen... might even be under the lights at this kids rate of improvement.
