  1. Needless to say but Iowa is a very hostile place to compete. Its all good though. that is the culture they have. their fans boo their own wrestlers. However there was a lot of smack talk by Iowa wrestlers and anyone who knows or knows of Nick ( The East Lansing Strangler ) knows he is no punk. More power to him . we need some of that fight to spark our wrestlers.
  2. something positive to take from a wrestling fans perspective for the sport. How awesome is it that the fan base is growing so big that accommodations are becoming an issue. It is great to have these events put together by people stepping up and taking the lead in making them happen. there will hopefully always be a hurdle to get over because of progress.
  3. too bad New Castle don't have enough mat space . The best spectators view in the state . what about Warren Central
  4. LN . Cam Jones 182/195 Roberts Samuels 285
  5. 106 is a fantastically deep and loaded weight class very exciting to watch. That being said I still think one of the best years I've seen 106 actually 103 was with Cody Phillips, Mason Todd, Jared Brooks Jared McKinley and Brian Harvey all in the same weight class all wrestling out of Newcastle semi state. Good luck this season !
  6. Been to both tournaments. both crowds are exciting with great atmosphere. MD only needs one gym which makes it nice but Al Smith is really loaded but quality matches at both .
  7. I'm not a fan of leg riding for the most part so my opinion is there needs to be more stalling warnings on top guy with legs in especially if the top guy is attacking the bottom guys wrist. If the top guys controlling the bottom guys legs hips rest all this weight on him not getting an active turn they diminishing the opportunity for the bottom guy to work up. It is not the bottom guys job to allow the top guy to turn him on the other hand if the bottom guy is bundling up and not making any attempt then they should be hit for stalling. As I heard one official tell a leg rider if you're going to put them in you better use them
  8. Its exciting for sure . Great win with a lot of young talent in the program and more coming .
  9. I don't think a bad relationship with a coach is an athletic problem but a social and well being issue.Coaches have a huge influence on athletes , good and bad. There are many reasons families move their kids from one school to the next and if that student happens to be an athlete , that student should not be punished because of it. The schools exist for the students . I have seen athletes where the only positive thing in their life was the sport they are a part of . They move and lose eligibility and now they find something more destructive to do or a family just does not like a school for what ever reason, and pull their kid out and put them in another school and kid does not want to leave but is a minor and has no say so. They should not be punished.
  10. Pretty cool to see http://www.masoncountypress.com/2013/12/07/rock-star-maynard-keenan-comes-home-to-help-mcc-wrestling-team/
  11. I think if CJ beats one particular wrestler this year , there leaves no doubt . That's all I have to say about that.
  12. I watched Night of Conflict Friday night and they implemented a 1 point push out rule . It was horrible at least the way it was implemented for scoring . I like making the mat bigger like college and allowing for more scoring opportunity and going to 1 point of contact within the cylinder. If there is going to be a point awarded for going out of bounds it needs to be because a wrestler is actively retreating , not because he gets pushed out or steps out in the act of wrestling . If wrestler A picks up a single leg and intentionally walks wrestler b across the mat out of bounds , I think the point should go to wrestler b . I believe the rule in freestyle is if you body lock someone and pick them up and walk them over and set them out of bounds is illegal even .
  13. wow ! awesome , Exciting , one of the best matches I've seen . congrats
  14. Well , IU is working hard to recruit top talent . Might as well start at home .
  15. great tournament. great competition so close to home . college rules .
  16. I missed Reece's match but got to see Batbold next match . Wow he is good . Hope he wins the next one
  17. Thanks for all the updates. Theyrrr GREAT! I was getting nervous reading through your commentary for Reece.
  18. Awesome Stevan . Congratulations .
  19. Drew definitely should have gotten some back points go his way and a take down with near fall . That would have been the difference in the match and the dual. We couldn't even buy some points with that official during the dual . I will say Diblasi seemed like a cool young man he wrestled very hard and was very respectable
  20. That would make sense but Matthew Kolodzik dominated Keshawn Hayes . Whats up with that ? along with several others I believe they missed . Austin Myers for one
  21. I thought you had to wrestle in your States USA State sanctioned tournament or receive a waiver ?
  22. Cash has been blessed with the opportunity to train with several Coaches in the state of Indiana , Kentucky , Ohio and Illinois . He however has primarily / exclusively trained with Jim and Jordin Humphrey since he was 10 years old . Jordin Humphrey has been the most instrumental in Tommy's success but has also grown a lot with Coach Brian Seltzer the last two years . He has an awesome team that work together for the betterment of their wrestler without an ego issue . They both get great satisfaction out of the success of their wrestlers rather than self glorification. .
