First off...I have a great deal of respect for your son and his accomplishments, I was truly sorry to hear he wasn't able to coninue, I can't imagine how hard that decision must have been - I doubt I could have done the prudent thing at that age.   Much respect for him.

As for who I am...Each one of the names you dropped knows who I am...I predate each and everyone of them on a Castle Wrestling Mat.   Yes I am literally that old.  Let's put it this way, I remember when Curt Welch wrestled for Boonville.

So here is the choice, you can either be the father of someone I respect as a Castle Wrestling Brother...Or a Troll on the Internet who has no personal point of reference when he talks smack about who will beat who...Purely up to you.

On behalf on the Indianamat community, I think everyone recognizes what a special breed you and your Castle Wrestling Brothers are for having strapped on the singlet of the gods.
furthermore, most, if not all, recognize your elevated cognive skills and social supioriority for choosing to live in Warrick county, rather than the crime infested rathole that is Vanderburgh county.
I admire your troll-busting discernment that demands the appropriate point of reference.
i do, however, feel like a bit of an outsider, as I do not know your true identity.  Bruce Wayne?  Peter Parker? Clark Kent?

Im not sold, that this would be the best fit for Indiana. Don't get me wrong, any change at this time would be welcomed. I realize Fred (AD) and company have zero knowledge of the sport. But, the wrestling community would gladly help in a new coach search. Someone who would be compatible with the constraints, if any, that the Indiana athletic department would have. Salary, assistant money fund, and such. And this help would be free of charge. Bring in a few candidates for Indiana to talk to and then make a selection.

Made it to the match. Wow, what a disappointing match. It's one thing to lose, but this was bewildering and
showed some regression.  Hope it was finals week lag. Thoughts -
The good: Welch had good start. and you got a surprise with your back-up 157 lbr., Thornton adjusting to bigger weight class.
The not as good / questions:   * A few bad RPI matches that they need to win.
    * 157 - where is your starter who is supposed to be your phenom recruit?
    * 165 - Your returning NCAA Q at 174 drops down to 165 and loses 14-1 to a kid that was 12-21 last year?
    * 197 - Christian Brunner off to a great start, but you can't lose to a back-up 184 lbr - got to win these matches.
    * 141 - Expected more from Limmex dropping down from 149 to 141
    *  285 - Big Streck off to a great start, but lost to a guy he already beat twice this year already, including a pin. Hope to see him
bounce back in a big way. No slumpbusters in the Big Ten Season like this.

    * General Weight Cutting - starting to see a worrisome trend - guys sucking some weight this year as in past. You have at least 3
guys drop a weight this year, and a 157 lbr that tried to make 145.5 in the summer for Junior Freestyle World Team Trials?
Just doesn't seem healthy long term...

Luke Welch won the tournament at 125.  Purdue's Ben Thornton won at 133

We have a new team starting up here in Ramsey, IN!!! North Harrison Cougars. We have been wanting and needing this program for a long time. We have an awesome coach and some very motivated kids on the team. Any guidance, assistance, volunteers, etc would be much appreciated. I was a team Mom for a very well established team in California so I don’t know all of Indiana rules, dates, events etc. Anything you can give me to take to our coach or anyway anyone can help out would be awesome!

Ok......? So either nobody thinks that we have advanced this year, or every one is afraid to comment? I will start it off. First off, I think the team as a whole,is in much better condition. By that I mean they don't gas in the later stages of a match. Few exceptions.. Also I've noticed that the team, as a whole, is getting aggressive and staying on offfense the whole match. Few exceprions.... and this reflects the 1st comment, better condition.

A tragic side story to Randys high school accomplishments, is he never wrestled a meaningful NCCA match. After getting a scholarship to one of the high profile wrestling schools in college, Cleveland State, He developed an illness that rendered him paralyzed in both legs, before he wrestled a single match. He remained in school and through rehab and therapy was able to walk again with help. In his senior year the coach set up a match for Randy at one of their dual meets. There was not a doubt that when he wrestled in high school, if freshman would have been eligible, that Randy May would have been a 4x'er.

I think the one positive that Indiana can take from this loss is ,I'm positive that the Hoosiers won't win any duals in the Big Ten this year. Joking aside, this is such a dismal program, I don't know if anyone in the country would take the head coach job at this point.
