Yes it did. Macke lost to Dustin like 10-5. CP tech falled Nosko (who won state that year) very quickly and Craig Weinzapfel beat David Erwin.

Nosko chin whipped The state champ move in  from alabama I believe , Brad Milius.

    Asa - 6

    Blaze - 4

They thought it was going to be like WWE . We walked in the Muncie Pal Club on the their first day and they seen a boxing ring . Blaze darted for it, until I told him NO ! That’s not real wrestling. Rest is History. Wish I could go back to the beginnings . Fun times, a lot of crying . 😊

I know that raggedy old ring well.. couple times in there with William Lee and Carvin had me wanting to wrestle too so tell Blaze he wasn't the only 1😂

Might get hated for this... but NOAH FREAKING HOLLENDONNER! DINGER! He might not be “the best” to never win state now, but if he decides to continue wrestling then in 4 years he’d be a conversation on a thread like this. Wrestled jv half the year two years ago, qualified last year (with 2 big upsets at semi state, and then made the STATE FINALS this year beating two top 5 ranked guys on the way. If the CP program was where it’s at NOW when Dinger was a freshman then I think Noah Hollendonner would be one of the top seniors in the stage right now.. if not the country. Call me crazy, but it’s just my opinion

He did have an epic run!

Thanks appreciate it a lot, with this being said I feel like i've got 100x better since last year at state and Walker is pretty good, I guess the only way to find out is at an open next year.

Proud of you young man!  I have no doubt you'll succeed and be an all American!

I think we are at 6.  Many of the top dual teams from elementary to HS are littered with Indiana kids.  If we ever put our best on 1 team it would be scary.  Bryan Bailey was probably the closet to accomplishing that goal.  Check out his facebook, where everyone has been posting their memories with his teams.  He has coached just about every stud in the state.

We just need to get rid of travel restriction and other states will start getting exposed to some of our depth.  Our top guys already travel, but getting rid of travel restriction will help some of our other talented wrestlers get exposure that can't or don't travel during the summer.

Indiana have 7 of the last 13 Big ten wrestlers of the week Also shows we are def on the come up at d1 level among every other level in college as well!

Correction, portage beat MD in ‘04 then lost to LN in the semis. Give us some credit for being the first team ever to beat MD in the team state dual format lmao

Hesseltine was a stud on that squad and another great 1 that never won it all.

  8. Randy Baker of Belmont 4x placer always a guy that could beat anybody on any given day..

William Campbell of Warren Central 2x Runner-up and cadet FS all American

Jonathan Brownlee of Snider was 1 of most swoll 45ers ever and placed 3rd twice and lost his senior year in a unreal match to Mauer in OT iirc

Aaron Sessa of Lake Central was a 2x Runner up..Cosgrove will vouch for how good he was..

Brad Spine of Floyd central ws a stud that placed 3rd and 2nd losing heart breaker to Jose Escobedo in the finals 3-2.. he's currently a world class arm wrestler.

Boe can wrestle everywhere and is a big move machine.. He's got at least 3  spladle pins in the state finals and hit many what some call the  broom stick..

Brewer over Walker any day, he straight handled his partner last year and beat Donahue who is now a national prep champion... Kinda clueless on why anyone would say walker.

Brewer ws a absolute monster at 182 and the picture of him flexing like the hulk after he won gives me nightmares and I'm not even wrestling him😂 And he's gotten even better and is 19-3 as a redshirt freshman with some really good wins and open titles!

Slivka is one of the best big match wrestlers in Indiana history. He had wins over multiple top ranked high schoolers last year. And has beaten more of those guys this year. He just gets the job done. Slivka is a hammer on top and underrated on his feet. I’m unaware of any national ranked kids that Dickens has beat. Slivka has beaten a handful. With that said, that’s the reason that Slivka gets my nod. I’m using logic and facts.

EMD fans are pumped for their guy. As they should be. Again, silly debate but a fun one. Obviously the Dickens win is fresh and 90 percent of EMD fans will give Dickens the nod. It is what it is.

With all of that said, most posters on here have never won a title and will never have family member win a title. They will never know the joy or help put the work in to win a title. So.. when you get on here and say a KID will smoke another KID, it is kinda insulting to a family that actually put in the work, took the kid to privates, took the kid to academy, took the kid all over the USA, the money that was spent, the sleep that was missed, the days of work missed, the tudors that were payed for, getting up at 5:00am to help the kid work out and meal prep, the “vacation” time that was spent in the middle of Iowa. So before you go off running your mouth behind your anonymous screen name, be considerate of what people went through and know that they are prideful. Make your logical picks or homer picks, but you need to be respectful of other people’s sacrifices. Calm down cowboys.

    Just my two cents.

1 of the best posts I've ever seen on here and this honestly should be something all of us live by..

I’m a big wrestling historian and junkie. I treat it like I do another school subject or any hobby that I enjoy and I try to learn about it as much as I can and go as deep as possible.

Just over the weekend, I had talked with Eric Aue from Perry Meridian about some old names I heard about through my years and what certain teams were like, and he offered to let me watch some film/VHS tapes of duals and tournaments and I was wondering if the guys from New Castle had any old footage they’d be willing to upload.

Coach Peckinpaugh is a respected name around this state and I see he’s not only the state leader but a national leader in dual wins with 1001, and after being at New Castle so many times, I’ve always wanted to ask or inquire with someone about what that program was like. I’ve talked to Nick Hull and Absolom Bryant about guys like Mac Taylor and Bubba Dickerson (who Bryant said was an unreal heavyweight with an unfortunate end to his career). Hull had said Taylor was one of the toughest wrestlers he’d ever seen. I came into the sport around the time of Brenden Campbell was ending his career and I remember he had a thriller with Paul Petrov at state one year that was like a 25-point match.

If any New Castle guys could message me to answer some questions, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Peck has millions of VHS... send me any questions you wanna know and i'll answer to the best of my ability.

This team was really that good? I’ve had several legendary coaches that have coached scary squads in their own right say that this team gave them nightmares and my eyes light up every time hearing about it. 24-1 with their only loss to St. Paris Graham and the IndyStar named them the greatest Indiana high school wrestling team of all-time, saying that they unofficially would’ve scored 158 points in the state tournament that year. Ten qualifiers, seven medalists, two thirds, five finalists, and four of those were champions...

They were really that good? Any stories you may have, please share. What they were like at tournaments, practice, etc.

Yes I know first hand..In 01-02 we wrestled that squad with all those studs and they beat us 66-3 at Team state when we placed 5th ..We were far from a slouch with 5 state qualifiers and 10 SSQ.. I ws lucky enough to have Mauer in the Dual.. That is still the record for the worst loss at team state.. and yes they were the best team I've ever seen hands down bar none.
