  1. Guess it depends on the injury if going more today could potentially make it worse or not.
  2. Word is Spencer Lee pulled out of medal round due to medical FF. Sadly no final mat farewell for his college career.
  3. What's with the click-bait subject titles lately. "It's Official" or "Potential Change." Neither of these are things that are official changes or even considered openly as a potential change by the IHSAA that governs the sport. The only groups that actually can make any of this happen. How about just saying it like it is, "I now see the light of Class wrestling" or "Here a 1A/2A Option to Consider" If someone need clicks to up their status or are staved for discussion just let us know what to click on to help out, but stop with these suggestive subject titles that just a bait-and-switch.
  4. Props to him for taking on the task of brining back the wrestling program at Morgan St.
  5. Already a likely AA shakeup at 149. Milner out which shifts several seeds and matchups.
  6. Logan Bailey also a Runner-Up
  7. DII Bailey Runner Up Bluebaugh Runner Up Streck DII NATIONAL CHAMPION!!!!.
  8. I still recall the vintage TripleB days live and in person. But glad to see him back in the groove. Call out to the rest of us that we need to get off our a** and put in some work.
  9. Can’t find a NCAA streaming App to use on my TV, luckily I can use my phone to AirPlay it to the TV. Also always annoying when DII and DIII finals are going on at the same time. Guess I’ll catch DIII later.
  10. Straight from the NFHS https://www.nfhs.org/articles/separate-weight-classes-for-girls-choice-of-weight-classes-established-in-high-school-wrestling/ And all indications are the IHSAA is going to stick with 14 weight class model.
  11. The real question is can Angle take "the Patriot" statue?
  12. I recall Bubba Sparxxx mentioning “ColliPark” a couple times, but I believe that’s a little south of Big10 territory.
  13. Did one of them lose way earlier on the Championship side than the other? That would factor into how things dropped down to the consols. I believe 3/5 and 4/6 would normally meet in consols semis but that’s if everything prior to that played out as the seeds say. But that doesn’t always occur. You may need to give a specific example to determine what the situation is.
  14. From the documentary I’d describe what his grandpa allowed him to do as more of a “gap year” before high school. It worked in the end for his personal end goal, but what occurred wasn’t really the traditional path for even many of the elite MS athletes.
  15. If I’m reading this right the PA rule just affects 8th grade. Which to me then would mean some parents/kids will just take the same step in 7th grade instead. I think it would curb the issue a lot better to have it say anytime in MS (7-8, really even 6th) when being held back was at the request of parents rather than a school decision based on being majorly behind on grade level skills (not just lack effort causing poor grades). Also, they may consider putting a watch on any kid pulled from regular school and going with the “grey area” homeschool for a few years. Those programs don’t always advance grades at the same time period as regular schools so could be a possible loop hole in this rule. Finally, I’m not sure if there was a thought on age consideration here but most kids without a serious cognitive issue hindering their learning ability likely shouldn’t be entering their freshman year two ages above the average freshman age. Holding a kid back in elementary due behavioral based maturity issues and/or educational growth concerns does occur occasionally. But those are mostly over the students future educational needs which the school likely has also noted, as well. That a different situation to me than a parent waiting until MS to hold a child back and there is no major learning based concerns the school (again skill ability not lack of effort). And sure you may see a few over zealous elementary parents still try to gain an athletic advantage by holding their kid back in 5th grade due to athletics, but not near to the extent we are starting to see as they go through MS.
  16. My understanding is after hearing the new seat totals, New Castle recently put in some additional permanent seating in some corner areas to retake the title of Biggest Gym in the Nation. And while I never want to see the state finals in an HS gym, New Castle's larger floor space setup is the better option in this situation. Seymour bleachers are right on the basketball court so they would need to roll up about half of its lower-level seats to fit in the mats and tables adequately. The gym could definitely accommodate a big event, but just not state-level attendance big. Pretty sure East Chicago has a similar issue.
  17. If the HCC is good enough for KISS then it’s good enough for the IHSAA.
  18. From the way I viewed the sequence, it looked like Witcraft was the initiator of the mixer-type throw on Lee. And Lee's cartwheeled around as a quick counter that that throw. But yes very much an impressive reaction move off a scramble situation to turn Witcraft's offensive attempt into Lee's own scoring move.
  19. By no means am I trying to disrespect Dollys accomplishments with the following info, because he’s an absolute Indiana stud who deserves to be mentioned here but: The only criteria to enter a competitor in the World Championships is country must be in good standing with UWW and send a wrestler to compete (not place) in their continental championship. With that the nation is eligible at the weight and can choose who to send to Worlds (we have the World Team Trial.). The Olympics on the other hand is a more stingy qualification process due to the limited number of positions the IOC opens at each weight class and involves a wrestler having place at major events to qualify that weight for their nation. Since Dolly represented Ireland he likely didn’t have much if any in nation competition and just needed to convince Ireland to help support his venture. By getting them to sponsor him at the continental event he basically became their guy for Worlds too. That said a better way to put it rather than he “participated in Worlds” is that at one of the Worlds he won two matches and reach the Quarter-finals. As well, he had a few decently competitive losses in a couple of his World matches. So it’s not like he just got a nice trip there from Ireland to take in the sights (as some rich donors have done before to get awarded citizenship just to qualify for a small nation at a World or Olympic event). He put in the work and was at these events battling for a podium spot.
  20. OK so we hear Big10 a major schedule sticklers years in advance without letting anyone outside the school programs know anything about gym availability until less than a year out. But there is still the possibility Ball State or even Indiana State schedules are more flexible if discussions happened early enough. I’m just not sure a year out is early enough at this point. Ford Center has to work around The Purple Aces basketball plans yearly for other events so clearly some college programs/conferences are a little easier to work with if given enough time to negotiate.
  21. Not getting into the rest of your argument but it’s worth clearing things up about Culver Academy. For one Culver has been committed to the IHSAA for a long time and thus had to follow their travel restrictions. That is a vastly different set of parameter for national competition and exposure compared to many national prep program. Sure the IHSAA has opened the travel doors now, but my second point is likely why they aren’t going to bloom into a powerhouse like Blair or Sem. Secondly, Culver has never put itself out there as a major nationally recruiting sports focused school like some of the other national prep programs. Sure they invest in athletics but not near to the level of these other prep sports giants. Could they yes but so far they have chosen to to take that leap. Culver has always been rooted in academic and preparing young adult leaders, so I don’t see a big change from that just because the IHSAA has opened travel. A better Indiana prep example would be La Lumiere. Which has choose not to be in the IHSAA so they could travel the nation for big games and big exposure. They place a huge athletic emphasis on developing capable DI level basketball talent while making sure their players get the academic support necessary to be eligible for those college programs.
  22. Santana Adams, Jose Escobedo, Angel Escobedo, Alex Tsirtsis, Andre Hernandez, David Martin III, plus a couple more pretty solid guys who were semi-state blood rounders or state qualifiers around there too .
  23. Honestly as far as the audience goes you can’t get much better than the action of the younger Thrine. But in terms of the HS athlete trying to maximize their potential I completely understand the need to be cautious and conservative to move on. Most aren’t putting on a. show they are trying to survive and advance. It may not always be exciting, but in the end if it get you to the next level the end is worth it to most HS athletes. That said I am definitely a fan of the potential Thrine brings to Indiana wrestling.
