  1. All I see listed on the ihsaa tv.org website currently is the finals on Saturday night. However, here is some additional media information in found in the IHSAA page: The IHSAA’s 2015 wrestling state finals will be televised live Saturday on FOX Sports Indiana, the first time the event will air on live TV. For viewers outside the FOX Sports Indiana coverage area, a live stream of Saturday night’s finals will be available at IHSAAtv.org. Friday’s first round and Saturday’s quarterfinals and consolations will be available everywhere at TrackWrestling.com. http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/boys%20sports/wrestling/2014-15/IHSAA%20Wrestling%202015%20on%20FOX%20Sports%20Indiana.pdf
  2. Bloomington South, Terra Haute South, and Columbus East are out.
  3. "This is DELTA!" Yet, we know how that story eventually ends.
  4. Is it like the old Hardcore rules where you can be called out at any time and falls count anywhere.
  5. Jeffersonville Regional (Jennings Co. sectional) had the other two champs with Rooks and Herrin.
  6. No disrespect to Delta's hand in Sage's success, but it's nice to see a little of the old Muncie Southside influence still alive at state.
  7. Would a 2 (or 3) class system result in the the IHSAA to eliminate one round of the state tournament series? If so would one less round basically mean the overall IHSAA take (# of total butts in the seats throughout the series) is comparable to what we currently see in the one class system. You may cause some kids to go further than before which will keep their relatives paying another weekend compared to now, but by eliminating one round of the series you have taken away an additional weekend of butts in seats that we have now.
  8. My only though is that when you are looking at ISWA as a criteria I would say a schoolboy or cadet level champ or placer would hold more weight at a MS level event than someone with a good Intermediate or Novice showing. In my view going up an age groups will affect even some better wrestlers and that is worth noting when looking at previous results for seperation criteria. As I've mentioned before with the ISWA freestyle or greco separation criteria I would like to see more emphasis placed on those who have a previous track record at the age group being competed in over those who have had success in a younger group.
  9. http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/boys%20sports/wrestling/2014-15/201415EvansvilleReitzSemiState.pdf That works, but can anyone proide a reference to the individual tournament tie-breaker criteria so it can be used in case of a tie at later tournaments? All I have been able to find from my search yesterday was the tie-breaker criteria for dual meets and team dual tournaments.
  10. To find something halfway far for seeding it would seems the easiest way would be to just go by the previous years placement. Yeah, 8th graders tend to dominate the top spots of most weight classes, but a few 6th and 7th graders usually make it into the lower placements. Obviously it will be hard to get it perfect since some stud kids don't attend until their 8th grade year. But at least its provides a decent starting point for seperation, plus promotes a few more guys to attend in 7th grade in order to help their draw as 8th graders.
  11. If I recall correctly Seymour's last year was 1999. It had the famous Rosbottom vs. Jankowski ticket round match. Evansville picked it up in 2000.
  12. That's the difference between Rankings and Pick'ems.
  13. See Below http://indianamat.com/index.php/topic/47608-ihswca-middle-school-state-team-champions/
  14. According to TrackWrestling one team penalty point was deducted from EMD scores taking them from 89 points to 88 points. This caused the final team standing of Avon 88.0 and EMD 88.0 which is what was submitted to the IHSAA. If no critera exists involving a individual tounament scoring tie being determined by such methods as the deduction of a penalty point, then it would look as it the results remain as listed Avon 88.0 to EMD 88.0. In this case both teams would be crowned co-champions of the Evansville semi-state. Again, I can not find any actual individual tournament tie-breaker criteria at this point, but it may infact exist someplace.
  15. There is no set tie-breaker criteria available for individually scores tournaments that I can find in the NFHS Wrestling Rule Book. It may exist (long document) but I am unable to locate it. The book do list the tie-breaker criteria listed for dual meets and team dual tournaments, but not individually scored tournaments. If a tie-breaker does not exist in the NFHS Rule Book I believe it would need to be in the IHSAA by-laws to be official. Their may well have been a criteria to follow when the IHSAA was trying to determine their dual tournament field based on sectional tournament scoring, but if that did exist who knows if the IHSAA have the forsight to continue it on after they ended the dual tournament. Though it's somewhat dated reference, in 1958 the IHSAA awarded the state championship to both Broad Ripple and Richmond due to a tie score. Same situation in 1934 with Bloomington and East Chicago Roosevelt. The IHSAA may have updated criteria since then but this shows a tie isn't unprecedented. If no tie-breaker criteria is available by the NFHS or IHSAA then both team, by virtue of the tie score of 88.0, would be co-champions of the semi-state. If this is indeed the case, I'm sure Coach Blevins and Coach Schaefer would have no issue sharing in this honor.
  16. Earlier Media for those interested: Great in-depth Sports Illustrated Magazine article http://www.si.com/vault/2012/02/13/106159205/man-in-full ESPN video: http://youtu.be/H2grqla6wF0 Sports Illustrated video:
  17. Coach Powell battled certain demons that prevented him from reaching his full potential as a IU wrestler. Today, while helping to lead one of the top teams in the nation he is battle another type of demon. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252129-OPRF-Visit/video/761121-The-Battles-Of-Mike-Powell#.VOIddIY8KnM Similar profile pieces have been done on Coach Powell through ESPN and other sports media if you want to find out more of his story.
  18. So rather than correcting the mistaken formula that was inputted into TrackWrestling with the actual one created for this years event they just went with what was already on Track. No mess up by Merrillvilles tournament staff or the IHSAA then. No conspiracy to get a better draw. It just a matter of laziness on their part to not move quickly and fix the error they made by using the wrong formula in Track.
  19. Since it was a close race that ended in a tie the tournament director was likely attempting to double checking all of the settings, advancements, scoring to ensure the final results were accurate. Then also double checking if there was a criteria in place for determining the out right winner in the event of a tie score. That would seem to take a little time to figure out and then deduce if the title was actually shared or not. That may have resulted in the delay which caused the winner to not be officially announced through the arena while most of the crowd was still present.
  20. Not exactly your plan but I had proposal a few years back to try and create a classed team dual state tournament while preserving the single class individual tournament. This would be based off of the results of the scores sectionals like the previous dual event was. It involved realigning each sectional so that their was a somewhat even distribution between the number of 1A, 2A, and 3A teams (or 1A and 2A in a 2 class system) at each sectional. Then based off of the final sectional tournament scores the highest scoring 3A team would be the representative for their dual tournament, the highest scoring 2A team would go to thier classess dual tournament, and the same with the 1A team. It wouldn't matter which team actualy one the sectional just that the team was the highest scorer in their class. Then all individual would advance throug the single class state tournament series as they do now. But, for this to happen their would have to be an effort to create a somewhat even realignment in each sectional, as well as, the IHSAA allowing a dual team tournament to occur again during the post season and be classed.
  21. Since 1996 Seymour has had a room with 2 full mats. Much better than the 1 small mat room we had previously. Jennings County still has to pactice on the upper shelves of their basketball gym with the bleachers pulled back. It's crazy that one of the best annual teams at that school, one of the top teams in the state this year, and a wrestling team with one of the largest participation rates on average in the state doesn't have their own wrestling room. I guess they have done well making due with what they have.
  22. That AD is a big enough IHSAA player to ensure her place has a padlock on the event, yet isn't involved and/or clued in enough to ensure that the state brackets are passed out in the proper mannor at that same event.
  23. Do you have a nice Limerick, Haiku, or or other type of literary work or art to help summarize the Bracket fiasco Merrillvilles tournament organizers created?
  24. With all the hoopla I can see this weeks Wrestling Wednesday article being on BracketGate and a comparison how the semi-finals & finals are predicted to have shapended up in both versions. Not that any of them were going to turn out perfect for everyone, but it sured seemed like the original version had a few more fan friendly alignments.
  25. Nice HS career Quinn. Though individually you did not advance your efforts over the last few years were a part of why Avon was able to get a Semi-State team title. Good luck with college.
