  1. Wow. This place sounds like a dump. So glad I get to go to Merrillville.
  2. You need to talk to your school's AD or Principal. That is a local decision.
  3. Perhaps a returning champ/#1 contender VS the field?
  4. Great post. Couldnt agree more. I think every weight this year has someone to challlenge all returning champs or number one contenders. Going to be a classic state finals IMO.
  5. Words in all caps are great for emphasis. They have even better effect when spelled correctly. For example: RIDICULOUS And yes, Hughes is my pick but no one is unstoppable.
  6. I am absolutely taking it personal. I know the Hughes boys, but I also think Drew is a beast on top and anybody who was at state last year cannot disagree IMO. I think there's more intent here by posting the video. If Drew isn't the best, offer up an opinion of who is, don't just show video from one match.
  7. What was the point of posting that video? Ok, LaHue reversed Hughes during the ISWA state finals. Does that negate his skill on top? Lahue is mentioned as being excellent on his feet in another post. Should someone post videos of him getting taken down? Classless....
  8. i think the point is people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones. relocation expenses and higher paying job cause my kid can swim? If thats the case i guess i should have taught my kids to swim. Sorry but im calling BS on that one.
  9. And Papa Schurg's mullet is outstanding!!! I'm going to guess he wasn't consulted on the photo selection process.
  10. Have to go agree with timeinandout, To an adult it might be sematics, but to an adolescent whom you are trying to sell the sport of wrestling the difference between being in the varsity line-up and being JV is huge.
  11. Many (All?) of the schools in northwest Indiana have 22 weight classes. Can't disagree with uniformity, but I would also hate to see coaches and conferences eliminate weight classes. And the majority of the schools I have seen this year fielded full lineups.
  12. To a signficant degree, I think the Kyle vs Cashe match speaks to the mental and physical grind that is wrestling in general, and 4-5 years of college wrestling in particular. I don't have statistics, but I bet the burnout rate is high on former state champs who didn't measure up to expected potential. It certainly takes talent to succeed at a Division I level, but it also takes mental toughness and desire. I can only imagine the dedication needed to monitor your weight/diet coupled with attending class while all your friends are out eating, drinking, and partying. Also, there's notoriety in being a Division I wrestler at a program like Iowa. I'm going to venture to guess the spotlight isn't so bright for Purdue wrestlers. In their shoes, I'd have to think to myself if it was all worth it? I know what I chose when I was 18. Kudos to both men.
  13. I enjoy a good debate. Pretty sure this one's not worth the time and effort. You do what's best for you. I'll go do what's best for me. Jarred and his family will decide what's best for them.
  14. No, I edited my response because I found your improper use of the word "to." So I figured if I was going to call attention to the Mayor of Jimtown's errors I should point yours out as well. It only seemed fair. To further my point: it's "happened," not "happen" and it's spelled MISTAKES. Here's my issue: don't go on a message board dictating other people's lives, and certainly don't give parental advice like you know everyone's background and circumstances. As for calling me a "jackass" Jimtown, it's kind of hard to respect an individual who anoints HIMSELF the "Mayor." It's cheesy.
  15. Irony: Having a discussion about the necessity and aspirations of whether student-athletes should be encouraged to attend post secondary institutions and the word "through" is improperly used instead of the correct word, "throw." AND, it's not "to many excuses" it's "too many excuses." Classic.... Go ahead and bombard me with the usual responses - anger, call me the grammar police, etc. But if you want to have an intelligent debate, be intelligent.
  16. I think he's questioning you for a couple reasons: 1. It's five bucks. Really? 2. Brandi Cash is personally responsible for organizing and providing opportunities to literally hundreds of kids to attend national tournaments over the years. Quite honestly I'm shocked more people didn't jump your post to defend her. Sometimes it's not what you say, but how you say it. (I don't mean you specifically. More like a general statement).
  17. Fabio, You REALLY like yourself! Maybe you should start referring to yourself in the third person? Since not only are you a horrible person (self-admitted), but horrible at spelling/grammar, I will provide you with an example(s): Fabio is the greatest, only his opinion counts. Fabio is the smartest person on here. Just ask him. Fabio acts like an idiot on Indiana Mat because he fashions himself wrestling's version of Rush Limbaugh.
  18. Personally, I have a better reason for your responses: you're either insecure or a dick. On second thought, you might be both.... If you teach/coach kids, maybe you should be a good role model and practice a little tolerance and respect for other people's opinions? Or, continue to be another a-hole who thinks his opinion carries more weight than anybody else.
  19. Maybe the person who posed the question cares? If you don't like the question, you're not compelled to respond.
  20. Good luck Lowell Red Devil wrestlers at Middle School state. Bring home some medals!!!
  21. The report I refer to was the Kernan/Shepard study done on local government reform, which included the recommendaton fo consolidate all school corporations under 2,000 students. An excerpt is below: The Kernan-Shepard report contains several recommendations for public schools. One recommendation is to reorganize school districts to achieve a minimum student population of 2,000. ?Indiana has too many school districts and administrators, but Indiana does not have too many schools. We recommend retaining geographically dispersed schools to allow districts to maintain optimal class sizes and serve local populations and needs.? (Report-pg. 28)
  22. Indiana Wrestling Guy: Mitch Daniels is in his second term. He is limited by statute to two terms as governor. His "reign" will be over in a little more than three years. A commission study recommened consolidation for school corporations under 2,000 students and it wouldn't fly. If that won't go, you will NEVER be able to consolidate IPS and Marion County schools. If it were to become the case, the private schools in the area would jump for joy because they would net a huge increase in enrollment requests.
