Not sure anybody is a 100% guaranteed lock this year. Maybe Alred and South? Seems just about all the top ranked kids have had some close matches. Not sure there is anybody I would feel comfortable laying a large amount of money on at this point.
Not sure if MD can get all 14 into the finals. I think 106-170 are locks to make it, and probably pretty safe to call locks to win. 182 can make it. I think it would be an upset if the other 3 weights did. I predict 10 champs, 1 runner up and 3 thirds.
Nope, not a state champ here. Just a fan and a guy that likes to bust chops, as Mattyb says. All in good fun, but I guess I should be careful with other people’s sensitivities.
Let me be very clear here. I think Brody Bauman is a fantastic wrestler and I meant no disrespect to him. I agree that he would be a starter on just about any team in the state. I was just wondering if wind over non-starters are now being considered for the rankings.
As far as being called out and identified, it is what it is. If it makes Y2 feel good to do that so be it.
Again, if offense was taken, my apologies. It was just something that struck me as odd.
Just curious why wins over Brody Bauman are being considered as significant wins at 113. I know he a very good wrestler has a lot of credentials, etc. but just seems weird that a win over a junior varsity wrestler is considered significant.
and to add, both kids that MD has had wrestling 220 this year are freshman. A couple of freshman that don't even weigh 200 lbs wrestling 220 and the outcome of their matches is really no surprise.
MD has 2 possible champs in Boarman and Lee. I'll throw Dickens in there as well with the way he has been wrestling. 3 legit shots and champions and then likely placers at 106 and 113. 126, 132 and 170 are strong contenders to place as well. We'll see how it ends up.
I get that, and if he were healthy and wrestling I would agree with him being #1. It just has never made sense to me to have somebody in any type of ranking that is not competing for whatever reason.
It's not like he was saying this to the media. Plenty of things were said in the wrestling room to motivate that were not in media, thus they were not bulletin board material for other teams.
Yes. One that sticks out was back in the days of the old Indiana's Best, Lawrence North came down and lost. That was 1993. We had gone to LN the previous 2 seasons for Indiana's Best (along with Franklin County and Muncie South). Lost to LN 27-21 in 1991 and beat LN 27-21 in 1992. Went up and beat Cathedral a week later in 1992 as well. I know Central, Reitz and Castle have had some highly ranked teams over the years. It's always been hard getting teams to make the trip south, so we always went North.
