We talked some on Gorrilla Radio about the first release of the genius rankings which include strength of schedule. I know not all teams will go out of state.

This is my son Gunner Butt, and yes i posted his career numbers because that is what is says career record not high school record. I have kept a record of every match he has wrestled in a since he first started wrestling in kindergarten to include his pins, techs etc. When he is done with high school wrestling i want to make him a plaque with all his stats as a nice memory of all his years of hard work and dedication to this sport. Hopefully he will continue on in college if that is what he chooses to do.

So 3 of the top 4 teams at 4A team state.  The top 4 teams at 3A team state, and a top 4 team from 1A team state?

The whole state series alignment thing is intriguing. I would NOT want that job at all.
 
Just for fun I did a distance to each regional/semi-state for every team in the state.
 
With approximately 310 schools that means each semi-state should have 77.5 teams. Looking at the Evansville semi-state only, the 78 closest teams by DRIVING mileage for 46 teams Evansville is the closes, 20 teams it's the second closest, 11 teams it's the 3rd closest, and for one team it's the FURTHEST semi-state. For teams actually in the semi-state there are 82 teams, 45 Evansville is the closest, 22 teams it's the 2nd closest, 9 teams it's the 3rd closest, and for seven teams it's the furthest.
 
South Vermillion goes to New Castle and is closer to Evansville. The seven teams that go to Evansville in which it is the furthest semi-state are Danville, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Speedway, Tri-West, and Pike.
 
 

1999 The previous years 3rd place finisher Steve Minton (New Albany) defeated the previous years State Champ Robert Rossbottom (Jeffersonville) to win Regionals.  Doesn't seem like a crazy upset until you factor in a couple of things.
 
One: Rossbottom had defeated Minton on several previous occasions and almost everyone outside of the New Albany faithful assumed it would happen again.  And the bigger Two: This upset created the  Rossbottom vs. Dan Jankowski (EMD) ticket-round match at Semi-State.  For context, Jankowski was the returning state runner-up from the year prior.  Making this match the poster child for semi-state wrestle-back for at least the quarter-finals.
 
Rossbottom defeated Jankowski at semi-state by a point and moved on to eventually becoming a two time state champion.  Jankowski as a senior was done for his high school career and became one of the best to never win a state title. Steve Minton would go on to prove he was also as good as advertised by becoming state runner-up the week to Rossbottom.

Yeah but it's always better when you can see the rankings etc.. I love Indianamat brackets.

The IHSAA is in the process of ruining postseason wrestling with how they hold the brackets etc. 
 
When will the real brackets be released? and by real, I mean the Indianamat brackets with records and rankings!!??!??

It makes a huge difference in viewing Regionals like Mooresville.  You can flip back and forth writing numbers on half those guys.

23 ranked wrestlers did not make regional for various reasons. Of note, the Fort Wayne semi-state ranking did not lose a single wrestler.
