MD has had down seasons before.  Losing to castle two years in a row in the team state series, the year we only had two qualifiers and both lost on Friday night are a couple of examples.  We bounced back.  Next year's team will have big holes to fill and it will be nearly impossible to replace the team points they are losing.  I think the lower-middle weights will be fine.  I'm assuming Martin will be up at 195.  Maybe Austin Vanover at 220.  No idea who the 285 will be.  We've got several semi-state qualifiers coming back that could get over the hump and get to state, but there are still holes that need to be filled.  I think it will be CP and BB battling it out for the title next year.

You just never know who might transfer in.  Could Purdy be the next one?

Why is it so secretive, last minute and confusing? IHSAA should have the ticketing all figured out and communicated weeks if not months ago. I don't get it, why is that so hard to do? It's almost like they don't care...

It’s really not a secret.  Everything is posted on the Indiana mat website about when you can purchase tickets

I'll add to this and answer a question asked earlier in this thread..

I've seen Critchfield more than Carroll.  Critchfield is positionally solid and seems comfortable in all positions.  He's wrestled some "close" matches (5-0, for example) and always seems in control.  He is good on top and his length helps on his feet.  Have no idea how he could fare against Carroll on bottom.

I think he'll hold his own and make Christian work.  Will he win?  Will he stay off his back?  Not sure.  But from what I've seen, he doesn't seem like the type that would get steamrolled.  Of course, now that i say that, he'll probably stumble retreating a CC advance and end up on his back in :30.
Either way, I hope to see it on Saturday night and not in the Semis.

Btw, I wanted to watch the Carroll - Grange match, but there is no video for that match.  Was there an issue with the stream at that time?  Most of the other matches have video available.  Disappointed

I was able to watch the Carroll Grange match and didn’t realize how quick Carroll was.  Grange ended up getting a TD and almost had another one until Carroll threw him to his back and pinned him.  Carroll is very strong and might be an issue for EMD 220.  With that said, I could see the EMD and GRANGE being a good match.  Like SWINFAN mentioned I would like to see Carroll on opposite side of bracket of EMD which would mean we would see EMD and GRANGE.

I remember a commercial the new Ihsaa president was in and he said “this year is about bringing back the fans to Ihsaa athletics!”  And this is what we get again!  Bobby Cox please come back, we need someone that actually cares about the wrestling fans, not just the parents that are there to watch 1 kid and then leave!  Some of us like to watch all of it…sell an all session ticket!!!  If I don’t show up, who cares, you got my money!!t

There isn’t a limit on fans this t

year.  This is what the field house wanted so you couldn’t save seats

Jordan Vaughn, Franklin Central (2015): Placed third in the regional but caught fire at New Castle beating Jack Chastain along the way and went on the next weekend running all the way to the finals where he was finally stopped by Nick Lee.

Reed Egli, Evansville Mater Dei (2021): Pinned his way through a tough 113 weight class last year and was ranked #11 in the state (maybe even lower), but unfortunately drew Alex Cottey Friday morning at Bankers in what could’ve been a finals match had Alex not had to default to 4th place the prior weekend.

He also wrestled Alex Cottey very close.  Don’t be surprised is Reed comes out this Saturday on a mission.

  6. I have only seen the MD 220 wrestle one match this year.  Not saying it’s going to be him or someone else.  I just believe Carroll will have that one match at State that he will be tested.  Looking at the scores from MD’s 220,  it looks like he is very good at riding his opponents from the wind he has with his opponents not scoring.  I don’t believe he will be able to do that against Carroll though.
