  1. Second this sentiment. I'll add that this is the best way to hear or see about all the local schools and not just one in particular.
  2. Hopefully Coach Donley puts him at RB once in awhile besides LB. With a line, he can be very dangerous.
  3. You never know what small school wrestler or team could knock off that big school wrestler or team. You'd have different opponents to open each tournament.
  4. I'd settle for classed team duals and single class individual. However I'd like to see the regular season shorter with both classed and single class team dual and individual tournaments. Make the classed duals and individual tournaments as a "warm up" to the single class dual and individual tournaments.
  5. Thanks for the insight. Not surprising the IHSAA would abandon common sense with class team duals and individual single class tournaments. They can't seem to get seeding either for team sports, but I digress. No use beating a dead horse some more.
  6. Question for IHSWCA guys. What determined the 3 class system? For a classed team state to be adopted by IHSAA, would more classes be needed for 304 to 310 schools? Would it not be beneficial to label a dual team as 7+ wrestlers in a lineup? Then base classes on that with 64 teams in an all in format. Have 8 team sectional/regionals with single elimination and taking the top 2 teams. Then semi-state with double elimination with winner going to state.
  7. Thank you! You wouldn't happen to know how many teams have 7+ wrestlers in a lineup? Just wanted to number crunch an idea for my personal curiousity. Just a direction to that information would be helpful and appreciated.
  8. You probably have told this to me or others before, but is the 310 including teams with a minimum amount of 1 wrestler or is the minimum greater?
  9. Pretty impressive actually for a small school in the middle of corn and soybean fields. Unlike other schools, our district doesn't consist of a large town or city. Bellmont to the north of us has Decatur and South Adams has Berne and Geneva. Adams Central has just Monroe and Pleasant Mills which aren't even close to Decatur and Berne. Most of us live in the rural areas and 80 to 90 kids total in a grade is really big. Football team has the sole IHSAA team championship. Baseball and Softball have runner-ups. Volleyball has been to the semifinals multiple times. We've had multiple individual state qualifiers in different sports. Wrestling has been in the top 4 of the team duals outside a year or two. Funny thing is we've had more placers the past 3 years than Bellmont who has won 50 sectionals. Most importantly AC has been a top notch academic school for years.
  10. Maybe he is related to Rodney Dangerfield?
  11. Definitely does suck as he seemed to have been on a tear toward the end of the year.
  12. Rumor I heard was that he was sick and may not be released by a doctor. I'm sure Bellmont will be tight lipped until weigh ins.
  13. All know I'm a Classed and Single Class co-existing supporter for team and individual. The current schedule doesn't allow that. I also think that the larger schools should classify their Varsity/JV/Freshman/Mixed as A for the best, B for step below, C below that, and D for lowest. Many 3A and the top 2A teams could easily have A to C squads if not to D. Maybe classify them for own tournaments? Gets kids wrestling instead of watching just Varsity.
  14. Is it all good if it's only an ISHAA instead of IHSAA?
  15. Think Bellmont wins this year and Jay County will be a respectable 2nd. If his record continues to be like it was at South Adams, Jay County will definitely be a contender to knock them off.
  16. Should each school get two individuals at each weight class if possible for individual state?
  17. Have 2 Super Duals or 3 3 way duals (4teams) and be done for conference until individual tournament. You will wrestle most back to back in sectionals and regionals anyway. Bellmont can still schedule the big names.
  18. I'd like to see part of the NE8 combined with the ACAC. Norwell, Bellmont, and Leo back to the ACAC while others go to the NECC, 3 Rivers, or etc. Plus that'd make your job much easier to cover the schools.
  19. Probably more steps to take the sport backward like they do with most sports. It's 2017 and they're stuck in 1917.
  20. Pat Murphy 567.712.3164 (mobile) pmurphy@defcity.org Here is some contact info that the organizer gave me on Yappi. Good guy from my brief interactions with him. I'd recommend it over the Fricker's Duals after how they treated Shenandoah.
  21. We need more Adams County input. Is there a better county historically with 2 small schools and one intermediate sized school that has had as much individual and team success?
  22. Tim Myers from Bellmont would be my guess. Too many to even list.
  23. Can you imagine if Yorktown ' s lower to middle weights were teamed up with Bellmont ' s upper weights? That would be a scary team.
  24. I say we make an unofficial dual meet between Bellmont and North Montgomery for #2. Problem solved.
  25. This is exactly why I wish the two would team up. Fix the schedule and earn your way to this event. I'd have it at 8 teams per class maximum. Make the rule that teams must have 7 or more wrestlers to compete and put them in sectionals/regionals. Have top 2 teams in each advance to the 4 semi states set up like individual. Trim the semis to have 2 teams advance to state and randomly draw the 2 seeds against 1 seeds except for those in the same semi state. Blame the IHSAA for dropping single class and then not helping grow class wrestling.
