  1. Be awesome as I'm not a UFC fan or the fake crap fan either. Just not sure how realistic it is. Number of teams would be much less imo, but I'd love to be wrong. Have to find a way to market it and bring interest to the non-wrestling fans to become fans. I too have pondered how to get such a league to come to fruition while mixing Freestyle and GR with it. Also creating a 4th style called combined putting all 3 others into 1.
  2. I love the single class format our state has (would like to have both classed and single class for individual and team duals but no dice). I wish Fox Sports IN would televise all the rounds and parade of champions like Comcast Chicago did for the Iowa finals. Also be nice if they could cover the team state duals.
  3. Reported on so many levels. Love for Mason to become a gridiron Wolverine demolishing unworthy Bucknuts in The Game.
  4. Be cool to see SA join AC and Bellmont with an individual champ.
  5. Not sad about these 2 missing out. Hope Coach Eggum takes more IN recruits. Hopefully Schlatter can steal OH recruits for my Gophers.
  6. Lower level should be coaches, parents, siblings/family/friends and teammates only of state qualifiers. They should have a certain allotment for each state participant. My preference, will never happen, but have only 1 weight class wrestling at a time. Next weight class cannot start until the previous class is finished (yeah takes longer but who is counting). I assume from the draw that mat # is known and you could make passes for the allotted family members and assign seats or rows of sections near that mat for each section for each match. No pass then no access. Have the Firehouse staff collect each one after the match for winning wrestlers for following rounds.
  7. Excited to see the Gophers hitting the Eastern corn belt in recruiting. Excited to cheer those guys on in the coming years.
  8. Fully understand your concern and reasons. Your athletes on the football team a year ago were outstanding young men, and Im sure this year's team was the same. I think the question to ask is if your son looks back on his choice, will he regret doing or not doing whatever activity. Will he miss making memories on the gridiron or regret not putting more time into his craft on the mat. The good thing is neither is the wrong choice if he can live with the decision. Injuries are going to happen regardless of the sport. This accident prone guy knows all about that.
  9. I'd be for it, but I know 2 football coaches that would kill it immediately as they have baseball and track. Plus 1A schools would struggle to have enough athletes for each.
  10. Yep, unless anyone can convince him otherwise. Let's be honest, wrestling and basketball are #2 sports for our athletes. Not that we don't give 110% in everything, but football has always been the #1 by a wide margin and will probably always be if nothing changes.
  11. From what I heard, Macklin is switching sports. This per football coaches I talk with. Kids been tearing the gridiron up!
  12. Our best wrestlers only go to school to the 8th grade or we would probably be #1.
  13. That's the problem with the IHSAA. Has to be secretive on every little thing it shouldn't. Transparency is the name of the game in today's world.
  14. How about just using natural geography and if necessary move teams on borders to the next closest semi state, regional, or sectional. The strength of each will always fluctuate and not really worth the constant changes to accommodate. Indiana has 92 counties and divide those by 4 semi states equates to 23 counties per semi state. Then shuffle the border schools to equal it out.
  15. Be cool to see a league that incorporates freestyle, Greco Roman, and collegiate folkstyle. I believe tennis had a league that mirrored high school team positions (3 singles and 2 doubles). Sounds like you need a stable John DuPont type of person to get it running (good intentions to grow the sport with $ but not bug or become paranoid).
  16. This is also why they have sucked at basketball and football. Donors are making the AD decisions for him and have zero idea about sports. Just business people trying to ruin a sports program.
  17. Stevenson committed to my Gophers! Plus 2 in the finals. Not a bad weekend.
  18. See, what's so hard about this concept for the IHSAA? I'd love for a classed tournament to have sectionals like football is currently but seeded.
  19. Wonder if it would be better globally as most other countries focus on Greco-Roman and Freestyle. They'd just struggle with American folkstyle, while we'd struggle with Greco-Roman and Freestyle more than most.
  20. Glad to see all 3 Adams County Schools are in this upcoming tournament. Makes it fun to see all the kids in the area compete for a shot at a title.
  21. Be nice if American folkstyle would be recognized, but I'd love to see freestyle and Greco-Roman become more popular too. Actually would love to see a "combined style" developed. One period each of folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman regardless of each outcome in said periods. Winning 2 of 3 periods wins the match.
  22. Personally disappointed as my Gophers dropped to 5th and B Pfarr losing along with the darn Buckeyes winning it all. As for IU and PU,I think both will struggle regardless of getting the top tier Indiana kids. Need to find some overlooked Eastern Ohio & Western Pennsylvania kids to bolster the room. Plus they need someone to get buzz about each program. Neither have a had a name to attach with on a national level.
  23. I got the point, just wanted to make my point of displeasure with the IHSAA on treating all sports the same. It's not logical and not with the times. Look at football being random draw as well as others. Each sport needs to be treated independently with sport specific thinking. Look at the GD and other sites and this complaint is always brought up. Not saying the IHSAA is the worst organization, as it does well in many other aspects, just not this one.
  24. Probably right, but you could possibly make a class for those under that amount. Think it's pointless to have teams compete in something they couldn't win. Even with 7 it would be almost impossible unless they pin every match and have criteria if that's possible.
