Okay it's the next day and I promised a good friend of mine that I would not post anything last night well I have changed my mind on how to word it I do not want to bad-mouth or call anybody out but I do want to defend my son every since Brayden didnt drop to 106 for team state not only has he felt shut out and alone in the room he has pretty much been made to feel it is all his fault PM did not win a team State title I could get into Pacific details but at this point I'm choosing not to Brayden has came out and did everything he was asked to do as a freshman put his whole heart and soul into only for these things to be happening now of course him and his coach have two different total views of what's been going on the room and all fairness I have not been in there he believes that they have been working with the other kid in order to get him to win a wrestle off again I have not been in there but with Perry People already posting he is going 106 and when Brayden is told no matter if he wins the wrestle off or not he will have to wrestle him off again and he will still have to share his 113 spot with him I tend to believe him the cards are stacked against him they have tried to convince him just to cut down with out a wrestle off now it seems that didn't work they're going to do what they can Brayden is succeeding where he was at was healthy and actually loving what he was doing I know a lot of people getting down as low as you can it's part of the sport and I understand that I just don't understand the logic of when a kid is doing well pushing him down further and when a kid is not doing well instead of training him and getting him better cut him down lower as I said earlier Braden has never back down from a challenge since he started the sport he has sought out the kids that can beat him upset when they're not in his bracket 2 Braden it's not always about winning the tournament but face and somebody that you've been told you can't beat so for him to tell me he doesn't want to go back in that room something has to be going on well you treated like a kid like outsider long enough he'll start acting like an outsider something I can say to the parents an eighth graders about to be freshman wanted to look at other schools because you feel it's a better opportunity for your kid you're taking a chance loyalty will always lie with the kids that were already there I found that out the hard way maybe all this is happening to us because of our lack of loyalty to Center Grove the last thing and then I'm done I also find it kind of amusing the Braden has came on the high school scene at 113 and grab the bull by the horns has showed everybody exactly what he's made of and a month ago everybody was saying he was a shoo-in for 113 which I always knew was not the case but he is a top contender it's kind of amusing to me now that he loses to in my opinion one of the best 113th in the state a returning champion 3-1 and now a lot of people on here saying his best shot to win state is 106 people know me I will make the decisions for my family that I feel is best brayden having to sit out the rest of this season to stand by what he believes in he wouldn't cut for team State why would he do it for individual but he has a friend at 106 who is doing well we will not be bullied into taking his spot to me that makes him a champion lot of people on here will say it's cuz he's scared to lose a wrestle-off but more than likely will be standing across from each other next year I guess we'll know then but you don't prepare one kid until the other kid two or three days before hand that since you won't just drop to 6 you're going to have to wrestle off which I agree wrestle-offs are fair but in this case I tend to believe my son sorry for the rant I just know how everybody is going to be judging him by his decisions I just felt his side needed to get out there

I usually don't post on here and I was going to put a long post on here about everything that's going on but have decided against it but the one thing I am going to say is under no circumstance will Brayden be wrestling 106 I made a promise to him he has kept his end of it I intend to keep mine well yes Brayden is small in height he's a very solid kid and does not have much more to get off he may not win every match and it's looking like he might not even have an opportunity but instead of focusing on getting him down where he feels unhealthy and the last pound I can get I intend on focusing on getting him stronger and faster and if he doesn't get the opportunity this year he will come back with a vengeance next year

We have no issues with the seeds or how this process is handled, Coach Brobst gave a very detailed explanation of what happened.  At the end of the day, the score of each match starts 0-0 regardless of their seed or ranking.  There are a lot of talented kids in the 120 bracket and the winner will have to be at the top of their game to win.  Thankfully, we don't have the complaining going on about the Al Smith seeding... geez, let's go wrestle and let the best that day come out as the champion.

Having not had any power to change seeds (I'm the Coach at Mooresville, not the AD), but still knowing the process, the only actual wrong seeds are at 120 according to our (arguably needing to be changed in my opinion) seeding criteria, but I believe I know why they are wrong. Since the first criteria is Semi-State Quarterfinalist from last season, all 4 top seeds were put ahead of everyone else, despite having losses and others not. Next was returning first or second place at the Holiday Classic. This should have put Mills at number 1 or 2 since he is a returning finalist along with Stephenson. However, if you look at the Auto-Seeds in Track, you can clearly see that he was entered as a DID NOT PLACE in last year's tourney. I'm certain, had there not been a change-over this season at Mooresville that this would have been caught and rectified, but as we have a new AD who was not running the tourney last year, it was not caught. This error caused it to go to the next criteria which was winning percentage, and since Fisher is 5-0, he was awarded the 2 seed and Walendzak, who is 13-1 got the 3 over Mills, who is 12-1.

If this adjustment were corrected it would actually go MIlls at 1, Stephenson at 2, Fisher at 3, and Walendzak at 4 by the criteria as they are set. Still, all 4, in addition to the other 20 wrestlers at this weight will have to determine it on the mat and they are still not set to meet until the semi-finals though with Brycen Denny, Justice Cash, Spencer Cox, Blaigh Rushing, and Zane Sullivan all in this bracket as well and three of them unseeded, I think there may be a shake up with the top 4 from that even. That weight class is loaded with talent.

I apologize for my school and this error, however, for those conspiracy theorists out there that think the "books were cooked" by Mooresville, take a look at how many of our wrestlers got seeded. You'll see we landed a grand total of 1 kid on a seed line and even he is at an 8 seed at 145 (which might be worse than blind draw considering the number 1 kid at that weight). I'd like to hope if we were going to cheat, it'd be a little more advantageous to us.   It is what it is. We all have to wrestle through it.

What I can promise is a quality product on the mat and a quality viewing experience in the Curry Center. I hope nobody's feelings are too hurt that they can't show up. Weather ought to be nice and wrestling will be nicer.

Good luck to all the wrestlers this weekend and into next week's competition.

I believe Jordan Slivka moved from The southside of Indianapolis, where their oldest son wrestled at St. Barbara's and Roncalli to Anderson IN because of his families buisness. At the time they heard Shendandoah was the best academic school around so they sent There oldest son Johnny there. The family was also a big wrestling family (John Slivka coached at roncalli for several years) and at the time Shenandoah did not even have a wrestling club, so they sent Jordan to Yorktown wrestling club, which was an equal distance from where they lived to shendadoah. jordan wrestled with Yorktown, Coach McCormick and Coach Dulaney. After a couple years they went their separate ways. John Slivka decided to start a Elementary team for Shenandoah and he take over the head coaching job for the middle school wrestling coach. He started coaching a couple of, now sophomores as they seemed to be the most fascinated in the sport of wrestling. When John Slivka took over the middle school team 3/4 the way into the season, the now sophomore class were 5th graders, and the middle school team went 2-19, as the sophomore class were 6th graders John Slivka and Gary Black Sr. led the team, Mostly filled with 6th graders to a 19-2 Record only losing to the power house Yorktown (only winning 2 matches) and center grove the next year the team went 19-2 with the same exact schedule the next year the Raiders went 22-2 Overcoming Yorktown. As they got into their summer year of 8th grade Jordan Slivka decided to forward his education and Athletic career to Cathedral for their academic and religious purposes, and soon moved down to their house back in Greenwood. As Jordan Slivka left Shenandoah they only worked harder to get better. They overcame a lot of things including a loss in a key wrestler but they didn't let that stop them. As shendandoah had a great team in 2015-2016 they had one of their first or maybe first ever freshmen state qualifier, Hayden Lohrey 113 lbs. now this season Shenandoah has only been climbing higher to the top as they try to get their school their first ever State championship in any Men's sport up in FT. Wayne this Friday!

Brayton Lee dropping from 145 to 138 was a team and coaches decision - and ultimately my decision.  We made a move of dropping all of our guys from 152 to 132 a weight class.  This allowed us to get a hard working senior in the lineup at 152 and we felt made all of our other wrestlers stronger a weight class down.  I would say it worked out okay for Brownsburg Wrestling this year.

To say Brayton Lee dodged anyone is absolutely hilarious and insulting.  He was in Nick Lee's weight class last year as someone else mentioned.  Also, fell free to look at the tournaments he attends - like Flo Nationals, Super 32, and Fargo.  Pretty decent competition at those.  Heck I can't get him to go to some of our team tournaments because there isn't tough enough competition there for him.

To the couple of internet hero tough guys who decided to come after a sophomore in high school I ask:  What in the world did Brayton Lee do this weekend to make you attack him?  He won a State Championship as an undefeated Sophomore in High School and I could not be more proud of how he handled himself.

It amazes me how some of you guys are so enamored with other peoples personal business. The appeal already happened. According to the Brownsburg Athletic Handbook it happens within 5 days of the incident. If you appeal and win, you can have your penalty lessened. It appears one won his appeal. These are kids we are talking about. Everyone on this planet messes up in life. Leave it alone and lets enjoy the remainder of a great season.

I am making this post under my wife's user name. I would like to go on the record, I have discussed this topic before ( see post in youth last year). I agree with people suggesting no change in individual state. Through Christ all things are possible! I so believe it is possible as my buddy  ( Rasslerforlife) has been challenged in a earlier thread. I would be willing to help any small school with my skills. I would be happy to run a practice and talk with your boys and coaches for no charge. I will work with you along the way in building a team that can compete at any level. If you would like to take me up on this offer ( just call)

Congrats to Matt, Shaun the boys and the rest of the staff. On the day that I met with Parents to tell them I was making a family decision which involved a career type move, I told the community that my goal was to make Perry Meridian Wrestling such the program that if one person left(no matter who) the program would not miss a beat. And with the help from Matt, Shaun, Phil, and all the parents , coaches and athletes over the years I believe it is in outstanding shape. These guys know what they are doing and always have.
I have not posted on here about this as it was a family decision that was almost as difficult as burying my parents.
Regardless this post is about the program at Perry and the people there. I am great friends with the coaching staff and still hold many of the kids and families dear to my heart. They are not only hall of fame caliber coaches but hall of fame people. Congrats and as always win'em all unless you are standing opposite side of the mat than yours truly. Love many of those southsiders.

Why not have this event at the Pepsi coliseum, the seating is good. I understand it cannot hold the mats, but since its a good venue and in Indianapolis why not make it a 2 day event. If the venue can only hold like 6 mats just wrestle with 6 mats. Have it set up like this Session 1- pool play, sessions 2- (more pool play if needed) wrestle backs to determine placement matches, session 3- semi finals ( or if time is an issue because idk how long the first 2 sessions would take, you could have the semis as the first session in the morning, but i would prefer them to be on the first day so that the teams in the finals would only have to wrestle once on the second day). day 2 session 1-placement round, sessions 2- finals (only 4 mats). The reason for waiting to have the placement rounds not until the second day is so  A- it will keep most fans of the schools around for the second day, B- you will draw in a bigger crowd because lets be honest its the finals, and C- they have to wait for their awards. Idk if this would work and im sure the IHSWCA has already thought about having a 2 day event but this is just my 2 cents. Also im just guessing on how to make the sessions go, obviously the IHSWCA would be able to find a smoother and more efficient way to do it. The only thing I know that they should do if they where to do this, is that the finals should be their own session, like Joe has said many times, we need to treat this event like the super bowl if we want it to grow

The committee should look into the human center in terre haute. Somewhat centrally located at least better than ft Wayne. Great seating, plenty of restrooms etc.

It's where Indiana state university plays their basketball games at. Seats 10,000.
