The burden of proof lies with those wishing to change the status quo. Good luck presenting a major change to the IHSAA that the wrestling community does not remotely aggree on.
 
Single class supporters have all the proof they need...show up next weekend and see it.

I am all for poling the kids in the cafeteria who are healthy, athletic, and have demonstrated Fantastic discipline in eating! That would be prudent.Maybe we should class the Olympics Ick!!! Paul would celebrate a 1a title about like a semi state title! And the school would announce him as the State Champ but he would be a State Champ. Not the same thing! Nothing good comes out of this!

So let me see...I just watched Mater Dei and Danville stand toe to to with Avon and other "Large School" and earn their shots at the State Tourney....But I am supposed to believe we need to divide these poor down trodden programs into their own subsections to give them a fair shot...

If you add the enrollment of the three most successful schools in IHSAA history (Bloom South, Hammond, MD), they do not equal the enrollment of Carmel. How many exceptions do you need to prove the size of school has NOTHING to do with the talent on the mat.

I would encourage everyone wondering about class wrestling to head up to The Palace to in a few weeks to see Michigan's state finals. For a state to have several of the best wrestlers in the country every year, you would rarely know who they are because of the mess that comes with class wrestling. 12 mats, mass confusion, ridiculously hard to follow. It's all about that certain few kids that you are there to watch. I like to watch it all, I'm a fan of great wrestling. I have 3 wrestling fans from Michigan that come with me to see Indiana's state finals because, as they say "It's where it's at". We have allowed the ihsaa to ruin what the entire country knew was the best basketball tournament, let's not encourage the same with what has now become by far the BEST tournament our state has to offer. It would be a far reach to assume the ihsaa would only have 2 classes. It would be 3 or 4. The Finals are also held at the same time in class wrestling, I'm not a fan of wondering who just won a state title on May 3 when I wax keyed in on Mat 1. Get on YouTube and check it out. If u want class wrestling because your child goes to a smaller school and you think they would have a better chance that's understandable, however there are a lot of us out there that will be engaged in the sport long after said child is gone. Let's not fix it if it's not broken. I can just see the posts on here from parents of state champions ranting because there kid has never received a scholarship offer, because in reality a college scout or coach will see the real potential and talent level and it may not be good enough, even though you are a state champ. Kudos to the IHSAA for getting it right!

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what he does. Either way, he's still going to have to get through a couple tough kids this weekend.

No offense but are these video's trying to make us feel sorry for this guy and forgive him for killing his cousin?  I feel for the guy for making a horrible decision that ruined the lives of those around his family and himself but I refuse to feel sorry for him.  He is a killer and should be spending way more time behind bars then he has.  Yes, he may have been a great wrestler/football player but he is still a convicted killer.  Both of them were pretty ignorant in my opinion.  Though my opinion really doesn't mean crap but I sure wish that the idiots in charge would bring back the paddle in schools (we use to respect and fear our teachers and coaches when we got out of line) then were horrified when our Parents found out.  We should bring back hard labor to our prison system to make sure that young kids are scared of going there (no air conditioning, cable tv...nothing but just being there).  I have two Grandsons that have non existant fathers that I have gotten into wrestling because I know that this is the best place for them to learn discipline, respect and self confidence. I will teach them morals and values.  God Bless you Coaches and Teachers.   Sorry to bore you but this topic hit me in the heart.
 

I don't care what anyone else is ranked.  Nick is "on another level" and "going to make some noise".  He will NOT lose and really won't be tested.  

The stalling call (after time had expired) in the Mt. Vernon / Gibson Southern 220 match (to tie the match) was one of the most shocking calls of the day.  I think coach Alcorn may have broken the 40 yd. dash record from his corner to the scoring table?!   Luckily, MV ended up winning AGAIN in Overtime.

Not to mention Cody Phillips who did not wrestle at state due to injury.  

Egli will win by decision or by injury default so Ferguson can save himself for semi state and wrestle enough to make it to state and then he goes for broke. At least that's my opinion and after seeing Simms do it a couple years ago I think it's a good possibility.

1)  If you can't keep your mouth shut. ( and I can't)  Sit or stand far away from the mat.
2)  You think your coaching during the match is helping...   It's not!
3)  Don't talk to much on the message board.
4)  Don't pay to much attention to the rankings.
5)  Don't expect more from others than you do of yourself.
6)  Regular season losses are almost never a bad thing.
7)  The ticket round at Semi-State is the most stressful match of the year!
8)  Let you son decide what type of wrestler he is going to be.
9)  Surround him with good people and step back.
10) It goes way to fast.  Make sure you and your son enjoy the ride.

I gotta think 113 for sure (he weighed in at that wait last Saturday).  I am guessing he just wants the tougher Big 8 match up with Hurst.  Sucks for Hurst.

I know Paul and his dad. I don't think that they would want this pointed out on here. You have to keep in mind that this was last year, and one match. Bailey is an excellent wrestler who can contend with some of the best. He is undefeated this year, and has earned the #1 ranking that he currently holds.

An All-Region squad would beat the brakes off of this year's MD team. Why is this even a thing?

I could be missing something here, but why would any potential first round points really matter at the state tournament? Points are awarded to place winners. If you win your first round match, you are a place winner. If you lose, you are not and obviously wouldn't earn team points anyway. Yes, I understand point values differ depending on the manner in which a match is won, but I feel like throwing the first round out is a good thing for the team race because of the number of lopsided bouts that will inevitably occur in the first round. The number of place winners, and their respective placements, will likely be the determining factor.

Here is what I would recommend for you. Start a new account with a new moniker because nobody will take you seriously now.

Plenty of good challengers at 113, but let's hope Konrath and Pepple make it and are on OPPOSITE sides of the bracket.
