Plenty of hot dog gifs on here -
Bellmont beat Delta 39-37. Both teams did some bumping, but the match was won when Braxton Russell bumped to 190 and Bellmont bumped their 190 out and the jv wrestler only gave up a major.

113 Daring was a semi-state qualifier at 120.
106 Tun is in the state rankings and not the semi-state?
126 Carter Krouse?
*not to mention at least one surprise?
Dodson and Russell just got a Chestie in Indy..........................................?
I've been doing my homework: and I know I'm biased but seriously?
I need to know the surprise

More of a casual fan here, but it feels like EMD is slowly dropping in the rankings over the last few years. Are the times where EMD could win State over?
No, they'll ebb and flow between really good and great for the rest of time. They'll be fully loaded again within five years.

Personally, I like the three wrestle-off method.
Wrestle-off #1a
First one is about this time of year where you establish the first pecking order. Only one "finals" match due to time constraints with events.
Wrestle-off #1b
Over Thanksgiving you have wrestlers challenge, you can only challenge up one rung of the ladder, but keep going if you win. This is where the #2 can challenge #1 for the second match. If #2 wins there will be a 3rd match to determine the #1.
If you do not have an event you can combine these steps
Wrestle-off #2
During Christmas break wrestlers can challenge, again only challenge one rung up, but can move up. The #2 needs to win 2 in a row to get the spot.Wrestle-off #3(if needed)
About 2 weeks before sectional. Same as before, only challenge one rung up and the challenger needs to win 2 in a row.
I'm not a fan of wrestle-offs going on every week or even every other week. When you win your spot you should earn it for at least a couple weeks or events. Wrestle-offs shouldn't be the focus on practice either and taking time to do them takes away valuable learning, conditioning, and even coach's time do to them.
You guys have ladders? We have like 3 single step stools

It's all going to hinge on how Purdue's young guys develop. You won't see many Purdue wrestlers in the early rankings because over half the lineup are redshirt sophomores and under. I think IU still gets the nod in the dual this year, but will be very interesting to see guys like Greyson Clark, Joey Blaze, Brody Baumann, and James Rowley wrestle. Those four guys are the biggest difference between having a much better dual team vs still stuck as a young team wrestling in the Big Ten.

4 - Rich parents. Every person has their price. Help me find mine and your child can find their way to #8 of their weight class. (Haha just kidding, unless…)
I'm not a rich parent, but I am a coach with access to $5, how about we work 12 more Starfires in there.
Great preview Caleb, worth the wait!

Here is what it gave me for the top 50, and it doesn't have Bellmont cracking the top 50 all-time teams. I think we are safe from ChatGPT taking over the world anytime soon. I'm not saying it will not happen, but at the moment Sam could do a better job with this off the top of his head with pen and paper.

I was aware that you were pulling my chain, but it was deserved. I am guilty of forgetting about the ladies. They are quite awesome.
But no one has answered my question yet. I wonder has there ever even been 2 male wrestlers from Indiana represent the US on the senior team at the world championships in the same year before?
Looked through the worlds page on this website, and the only time I saw two men's freestyle team members were Angel Escobedo and Reece Humphrey in 2013. Indiana has had some pretty good numbers for putting guys and girls on age level world teams for a few years now, but doesn't have a huge history of getting guys on the senior team.

Just saw Benjamin Smith a state champ from Maryland is listed as Indiana. Where’s this kid going?

Heard he's on campus and the REAL Indiana wrestling school - IU!!!
The Chad Red connection could reel in a top recruit for the Hoosiers!
I was going to say that doesn't make sense because they have Derek Gilcher already at 157. But then I looked at the roster and saw he's up at 165, so this sucks.

Actually I do get a little salty when someone makes unnecessary comments about an area they don't have a clue about especially if they aren't around here trying to help. I don't need to do research, I live it every single day. Trust me on this, I know how it all works in the background with youth wrestlers and how schools are chosen. I hear things first hand and I wasn't being totally sarcastic. I think sooner or later things like that will have to happen in our area if we expect to compete at all on the team level.
But... as Galagore said what truly is the goal of this sport? If those second stringers are that good then have them and their parents go to a smaller school and help build the culture there and get even more kids involved in the sport. If you are talking wrestlebacks and spreading out the talent pool then you need to do the research on what the wrestling community has been trying to do for decades. The bottom line is the IHSAA cares about 1 State Champion and making sure the population of wrestlers are spread out. They don't try to shift powerhouses to appease the greats and I don't disagree with that.
If it is so difficult there and easy here please feel free to let anyone know we would welcome everyone that would like to move to Northeast Indiana for the easy path but we would also appreciate help with coaching and building the area.
I'll start house hunting for any stud wrestlers that want to move to Berne.

Brayton Lee hit the portal yesterday. Decent chance he lands back home at Purdue which would be huge. Put him at 157 and let Blaze redshirt.

Of course they ship out one of Fort Wayne’s best teams

You know I love ya Rex but in reality it's the opposite. We need to get more kids to the level so we won't lose them to greener pastures..As much as I love Snider: We had no one who could even go with him fulltime. No one in 80 schools who would be a good training partner. We gotta step up.
Yup, I was just joking and fully understand. It’s honestly amazing how good Veazy got working out of Snider. No offense to Snider, but that caliber kid needs similar caliber to push and make better. Ponderosa is a great move because they have the number one ranked 170 pounder.

Willie confirmed Veazy to Ponderosa on his show today. Awesome, there goes Fort Wayne semi state's best. Between him and Christian Carroll last year, I have to assume our nationally ranked studs are terrified of the meatgrinder that is the Fort Wayne semi state. That's why the rest of the studs cower in the other semi states.

FWIW, I was checking some football rosters across the state the other day. I checked out Snider's roster and Veazy is on the roster as a RB....listed as 8'0" and 320 lbs
https://www.maxpreps.com/in/fort-wayne/fort-wayne-snider-panthers/football/roster/
Classic football rosters beefing up the measurables. I've seen some 106 and 113 lbers listed as 160 on football rosters.

I have heard Warren Central is getting a North Dakota State champ. Brownsburg lost a kid to Wyoming Seminary. Heard a potential rumor of little Cruz wanting to go to Mishawaka. Did Denton leave Penn? Lots of unanswered questions out there.
I did see Waylon Cressell signed up for IHPO for Warren Central. Didn't realize he moved out to North Dakota or that he won state.

So in summary, Veazy to Olympic Training Center and Hunter May back to Floyd Central?
Can someone stir the pot?
