  1. Think there is a form to complete and be approved by the school's AD I believe. Check the IHSAA website.
  2. May have to do with smaller field at Natls for Cadet 94 compared to Cadet 106, plus it is a much lighter weight class in general? The truth will come out though that's for sure.
  3. That was a simple a reply as I could have hoped for. Thank you.
  4. Keep in mind this is from a newbie (i.e. read at your own risk): How does the IHSAA determine what 1 seed from a given regional wrestles what 4 seed from another regional (I am assuming that each regional's 1-4 seed do not meet in the semi-state until after the ticket round at the earliest)? Sounds convoluted, but I do not know how else to put it than that.
  5. I can't imagine all of the work that goes into PRE-SEASON individual State rankings, team State rankings, team dual rankings, regional rankings plus individual high school mentions and a lot of good pics and GREAT writing. What a great way to kick off the season. Look forward to diving into the preview more this week. Thank you staff and volunteers of Indiana Mat! SW Indiana wrestling fan
  6. Is there a separate place for coaches for check in? Is there a fee for those with a USA coaches card?
  7. Point well taken, Troll. For kids that are not self-motivated or who do not have a pre-season wrestling program I do see where it can be a benefit. We're lucky down here in SW IN that there are good pre-season options where wrestlers improve as a wrestler with great technique, drilling, cardio and live wrestling in a very solid wrestling room. 2 times a week in Aug, 3 times a week in Sept plus weights 3 times a week, and 4 times a week in Oct plus weights 3 times a week.
  8. My mantra is don't do a sport just to stay in shape. Do it because you love it. Saying that, I know that there are a few SW IN wrestlers on cross country teams. They're not averaging 5:06 for 3 miles like the SIAC champ did this past weekend I can tell you that!
  9. Or The Classy Chassis in Speedway!
  10. Good point. Even though they are having a down couple of years, Reitz will be back. Still may get a State Champ in 2015 (Ferguson is a stud). Gibson Southern will continue to improve as their coaches get tenure. That learning curve is steep!
  11. Anderson HSE and Hunt Yorktown absolutely studs.
  12. Yeah. Heard Konrath is going to 113 this year in preparation for 120 next year and 126 Sr year to get ready for college. He could probably get to 106 if he wanted though and would have to be the favorite to make it to the top of the podium. Probably in a handful at most to do the same at 113 should he choose to wrestle there. Freshmen favorites have to be Miranda from Avon and Triana from Da Region. Ty Mills, Graham Rooks, Tanner DeMien, Baxter Annakin and Levi Miller are gonna make some waves too.
  13. Other Evv wrestlers (excl Kemper mentioned above) year school weight and IMPO records: Cordelle Miller Sr Heritage Hills 163 3-2 Kyle Todrank Sr Gibson So. 141 2-2 Wyatt Montgomer So Mater Dei 141 1-2 Austin Ramsey Jr Castle 135 4-2 Caleb Craig So Evv Reitz 135 1-2 Baxter Annakin Fr Castle 109 2-2
  14. Distance really the only reason. Two Castle, one Gibson So., one Heritage Hills, one Central, one Mater Dei, one Reitz. All but Reitz coached by Maurer and Coughlin.
  15. A kid named Klayton Anderson (moved to Indiana from MO this year maybe?) did very well in the 109 class, including beating Saul Ervin of Union Co KY (2014 KY state placer). Assuming he is an incomeing freshman at HSE. Anybody else know anything more?
  16. How about 2017 when there will be three Lee brothers at Mater Dei?
  17. I probably missed an older thread, but are prelims going to be shown live online on one of Big Ten networks digital channels?
  18. My son's first ISWA State two years he weighed in at 75.2 lbs, so wrestled 80. He was crushed that he was "overweight"......for about 20 minutes. He wrestled fine the next day (2-2). The 75lb class would have been every bit as tough. Cutting weight seems not to help that much. Seems the only kids to perennially lose weight are those obsessed with getting a State title (or triple crown). There is a kid my kid's age (8th grade) who wrestled 95 lbs at middle school state as a 6th grader AND as an 8th grader. That seems way over the top to me.
  19. Assuming the looming poor weather throughout the State hurt the tournout today?
