1.Yea,  instead of using  these soiled  word not be said to the IHSAA, "Wrestlebacks".  We'll use the word "Repechage".  Its more exotic,  mysterious, and interesting.  We could rebrand the whole movement

    2.  "No wrestlebacks" not only make our wrestlers work harder,  the process is much more efficient.  You  only need to wrestle 20 matches per bracket instead of the bloated 29 in a wrestleback bracket.  Thats a 35% savings,    You sell tickets at full price, but give the customers 35% less matches.     That's what you call profitable.   They should apply that to the State football and basketball tournaments.    Just play 2 1/2 quarters in state tournament basketball games,  you get done a lot earlier.   That way,  the basketball teams would have to do a lot more in the 1st quarter because it would count more.  The 1st quarter would be much more exciting.

Maybe the should apply that to track also.  Like in the 100 Meter dash should be the 65 meter dash.   The start of the race would be much more important and  really exciting.  Instead of going to 25 points in state tournament volleyball games, they should  go to 16 points.    Lets play 4 1/2  innings in a state baseball games.  That 1st inning would really be exciting, just like our ticket round.   We could do it to swimming also,   Nobody wants to sit and a watch a full 500 meters.  Lets reduce it by 35%, people would be much more interested in the  325 meters.  Do you want to watch all 18 holes at the state golf tournament?   Get this,   how about 12 holes.   Thats efficient and exciting.   Gymnastics has too many apparatus also,  lets cut out the uneven bars and give them one vault instead of two.  Tennis is too long, lets make it a 4 game set instead of 6. That 1st game really would count.

This would be something that I would have been willing to do, but due to injury time not actually being captured in TW (it is just a secondary clock) thus no scoring or tags within the match, I don’t believe it is possible. Definitely something that piqued my interest though.

Per the rules, there's no penalty for calling injury time out.   But!!!! If there is imminent scoring situation such as a takedown (based on referees judgment), and a wrestler that's about to get scored on becomes injured, then the referee can award the points the points for the takedown or whatever scoring situation.   In my opinion, this rule would have been applicable in this Stanley match with 20 seconds left.  You don't see it much and of course it would have been a ballsy call.   This would have been the perfect time to apply that rule, and i think the ref missed it albeit a tough call to make.   The takedown at the end was also a really close call, and I could have seen that go either way.   I bet the ref, was thinking about the injury call and at that point was going to error on the side of Crown Point.

Note, that rule was added about 4 years ago, and done like I said for situations like this.

I think we agree that it's something we can't put on the referee as a judgement call, as that would be a slippery slope.  I wouldn't have a problem with a rule change that's similar to the college rule where after the 1st injury time out, the non-injured wrestler gets choice of position.  Note, currently under NFHSA its, choice of position after the 2nd injury time out.  It works at the college level, so it wouldn't be that significant of a change.  I wish we could mine track wrestling data and see if we really have an increase in injury time outs.  I always like to use real data to see if there is a trend.

No harm,  my son is done wrestling, but i remember my son's Sr year and an injury he had.  He had to sit a holiday tournament.  I might have been a little crazy back then.   It gets emotional when you have a lot invested like that and have goals.  I just say look at the big picture, and make the smart decision.

What’s his goal. Win or place in a holiday tourney and possibly injure it further. Or advance as far in the state series as his talent will take him.
I’m assuming you took him to seek medical attention. If not I recommend it. Sometimes it best to rest and fight another day.
