  4. Yes got caught as in he made a mistake that cost him when he was firmly in control of the match. He got careless with a simple dump. Is that better for you? No excuses he got caught. You know there's a difference when a kid is getting it handed to him then gets pinned. Then there's the hey watch what the hell your doing or your gonna find yourself on you back by not being meticulous with your moves. Steven Kitko did look very determined and well trained for this time of year. I wish him well the rest of the season.
  5. Yes David was winning that match and got caught. David went for a firemans and got caught underneath in a flash pin so he will learn from that.
  6. Thanks for getting it here quick. My wrestlers loved reading it.
  7. Hamilton Heights. Only 6 wrestlers have ever went to state. Highest place is Ben Hoover who placed 3rd at 160 2006. 49-3
  8. Ahh yea Brock Hudkins was on fire!!! I mean this young man would not be stopped. Brock hit some duck unders that any college coach would be proud of. Just unbelievable. The crowd was in awe of his abilities.
  9. Well, I had the fortune of helping coach the Indiana High Rollers Black Team with Mr. Cash. I also had the opportunity to watch Indiana Elite wrestle 4 duel meets and Indiana High Rollers White Team wrestle in 3 meets. I can tell you right now, Indiana is on the right path. These young men impressed me with their gritty wrestling and their determination to win as a TEAM. You would think that this is May and a lot of our wrestlers would have other things on their minds such as finals and graduation. I didn't sense that in any of them. To me, they all were on a mission. It was exciting to witness! I will say this, the Indiana wrestlers were in great shape. I mean they all looked like they hadn't stopped wrestling since the state. Mrs. Cash assembled a fine team. The chemistry was if they had been on the same team for years. Even when a wrestler was not on the fortunate end of winning, they were fighting not to give up bonus pts. to the other teams so that wouldn't effect too much of the overall score. I will say this, the other refs commented to me after every meet that we had a fine group and they enjoyed their competitiveness. We even had some less experienced young men and you couldn't tell it as they were a huge part of our success. The Avon wrestlers, my hats off to you. Colton Cummings, you my friend, are as aggressive and talented a wrestler as I would ever want to start off a duel meet with.
  10. This was probably one of the best freestyle matches I've ever seen and I have seen 40 years of them. 22-19 and epic to the last second.
  11. I have the ancient elder. It was given to me by a friend love the book.
  12. My hats off to Delta then 5 times in a row they won the state and they were at 2-A school.
  13. I have been at every state championships since 1974 when Muncie Northside won the state then my high school won it the next year Muncie Southside. Something that stood out for me was Doug Blubaughs sons for me it was the first time I ever saw wrestlers not where socks. Mike Niccum from Delta being the biggest 119 pounder I ever saw. Art Merriweather being the biggest 126 pounder I ever saw. Southport high school was crazy back then the fans were right on top of the mats it was awesome. The wrestlers back then were very physical. A cross face was a cross face they didn't stop the match because you ran it to hard. None of this injury time out. They wrestled.
  14. lol I would say Andre Porter is about the biggest dark horse there ever was in this tournament seeing how he was at the basketball game tonight because he is a cheerleader. I mean he did wrestler in the Smi State but unless there is an act of God you wont see him tomorrow vying for the title.. Coach Myers (Andre's Coach)
  15. Ok I wrestled in the state finals in 1982 and I wrestled 145lbs and we could weigh 149lbs. I actually weighed in at 143lbs. So we got 4 lbs.
  16. I am Andre's Coach. I came to a friends house 2 years ago and I saw him and I rolled with him just by chance in the summer of 2012 I said you could be pretty good. Well I have a history of working with HWT's and I couldn't get Andre off my mind. I said man if that kid had a coach he could really go places. Well a month went by and I got a call from John Hook and he said man we need a coach and I never wanted to be a head coach. The time commitment is huge if you do it right. I was just happy stopping into high school practices and rolling around with HWT's and helping out. Long story short I got the job and I went to work on him. I got him an extra 78 matches in the spring and summer plus I brought a few friends in such as Tom Erikson to help out with Andre. Well last year he ran into Donte in the ticket round of the Smi-State and lost. We traveled all over last spring and summer he wrestle with the Indiana Junior team in Oklahoma and I took him to Iowa, Virginia Beach, and Mich and all over Indiana looking for matches. Well here we are he's 30-1 and ranked number 5 in the state. We are on track and on a mission to be on the podium in a few weeks. Lets not forget who his father is George Porter 1989 HWT State Champ from Gary Roosevelt. His father lives overseas. Well I wish all the wrestlers good luck this year.
  17. Better watch out for Cole Leininger Hamilton Heights at 220. 25-4 wrestled all year with dislocated shoulder finally one week ago got put back in place right.
  18. Can you tell me where he wrestled in College. It seems I know him. I am sorry for you loss and the wrestling worlds loss.
  19. Your welcome Tom. I appreciate your efforts as well as the efforts of the rest of the coaches. I look forward to helping next year. Gary Myers HH
