  1. I watched that match against the Michigan kid. I said it before and I will say it again Mason Parris if we are comparing apples to apples will leave Indiana as the most dominate wrestler since David Palmer from Delta High School. Some will get what I am writing and some won't, but true historians know.

  3. I know Jim Ellis who coached them to the state title I believe in 67'
  4. Congrats. I know they had a very good training camp and their coaches worked their tails off all last week to get them ready.
  5. Congratulation's to Team Iron Bear for making it to Mondays Championship round. Team Iron Bear went 2-1 Sat and losing to a top 8 team and going 2-1 Sunday losing to a top 8 team. Team Iron Bear also ran into an Indiana team on Sunday in the second round and earning a hard fought 29-28 win over Indiana Outlaws. The coaches Tom Erikson, Gary Myers, Bruce O'Neal, and Jarred Logan are very proud of this team. This team mainly consisted of Semi State qualifier's across the board with no state placers but as a team they fought their way through and finished 4-3 for the tourney. On a better note the boys had a blast on the beach and are ready to go back next year. We will only lose Isaac Ray at 182 as he is graduating so it will be fun bringing the same guys back.
  6. We are coming down to the wire and we have filled the team nicely we just need 220 and HWT. Please contact me at if interested at garymyers86@gmail.com
  7. lol Wow Hamilton Heights got no consideration on this on your last pick when Colombia City said no? Does anybody do research? I mean Hamilton Heights Beat Peru handedly and we won the very conference that they hosted and just so you don't think that was a fluke we beat Delta and Oak Hill as well in the same week. 20-2 and Conference Champions and 13 returning starters. We lost two duels in the very beginning of the year because of wrestlers moving up but after that we never lost again. Just food for thought flame on..........
  8. Ok any school in 2-A that cannot make the trip the boys at Hamilton Heights would gladly run there. I mean its a mile or 2 farther than I like them to run but hey its the State Championships. We were 20-2 and Conference Champions and we return every starter but one. The AD promises also to run along side the boys as well.lol
  9. Tom Erikson and Gary Myers have a few weights to fill in our upper weights of our dual team that's going to Virginia Beach Memorial day weekend. 195, 220 and HWT. If interest please email me at garymyers86@gmail.com or Tom at terik28901@aol.com

  11. Boy I never thought I would see a comment about how it was done in 1982. I placed second in my semi state at Ft Wayne so I came to Market Square Arena and wrestled Friday night and won 3-2 over Dean Smaltz from Roncali. The 4 Semi State champs didn't have to wrestle until Sat morning so their was 12 guys total in each weight class. I then wrestled Curt Cinnimen (sp)from Hobart and go into over time and I win on criteria. So I go into the Semi Finals to meet the eventual champion David Abbot from Blackford. I lose that match 9-3 so as a junior I look at my coach and go okay not bad I will place in the top 4 and could possibly place 3rd as I wrestled Dave Petruzzi from Carmel before and lost 8-7 at the conference so I knew I had a chance to get 3rd. So my coach looks at me and says hey sorry to tell you this but you have to win another match just to get into the 3rd and 4th place match. He goes on to say if you lose you get nothing. I'm like what I just got to the final 4. At that point I was 2-1 and now I have to wrestle a guy that's been resting since 10 am and I have had 3 matches one Friday night and one overtime win in the morning and then the eventual champ in the afternoon. So I lose that conso match 3-2 and the guy I wrestle comes to me at the conso 0-1 and I'm 2-1 and I go home with nothing. To this day I can't believe they tried that system and the guy that beat me lost the next match and places 4th. so he goes 1-2 for the state tourney and places. I would go home 2-2 and nothing. I mean it was a nightmare. .
  12. Well, I sat with most of my wrestlers from Hamilton Heights who had never seen a state championship. I can tell you, it was a match they will never forget. This match taught them a lot of lessons on both sides and what an exciting match for them just to be apart of and just to watch as a fan of wrestling. My wrestlers go through the same Regionals as Tommy so they were able to connect a little with him and cheering him on. We were front row most of the tourney and 3rd row for the Finals. Tommy's match they talked about all the way home. Not one comment was made about the pin but instead how great Indiana wrestling truly is. Two great young men that we should all be very proud of as they were the ones center mat battling for the most prestigious title Indiana has to offer.
  13. Well they had a coaches table down on the floor and no way to reach it if your not a coach on the floor. lol
  14. I went when Muncie Northside won it in 1974 167lbs Bud Palmer led that crew, I missed 1975 when my high school won it Muncie Southside. Mike Holmes 126lbs led that crew. I haven't missed since 1976.
  15. I mean give him some credit on wrestling at 152lbs this year against a guy that we all thought would be at the state tourney.
  16. There's no crime in rooting for Nick he's a great wrestler. But to be honest wasn't even thinking about Nick. My statement goes for anyone that wrestles Sage that day.
  17. I always look for wrestlers like Sage Coy when I am putting a team together. I look for that chip on the shoulder wrestlers. I put a few in my lineup if I can because It makes my team solid. Trust me it rubs off on the guys that need to see it first hand. Wrestlers like Coy can win the matches that are on paper impossible to win. Sage has no fear. So when he walks on the mat he looks for opportunities that a normal wrestler would never see or recognize. That makes him dangerous so don't ever take him for granted or it will be the lights at Bankers life that you will be counting.
  18. Let's see where do I start......Oh yea you heard it here first he wins it all!!!!!!
  19. Talk about tough draws. State certified scales. Now that's the death match for some.
  20. Well, its settled then. I can keep my boys home this year and try again next year.lol
