  1. Here are a few, captured from Indiana Little State... 125 - Anthony Hughes - Marian/Lawrence North 133 - Matt Gimson - IN Tech/Jimtown - Chase Wilkerson - Indianapolis/Mt. Vernon Fortville - Jared Brown - Marian/Pendleton Heights 141 - Ray Rioux - Indianapolis/Avon - Gavin Alstott - Wabash/Floyd Central - Hunter Cottingham - Indianapolis/Western 149 - Logan Bailey - Indianapolis/Cathedral - Alex Barr - Wabash/Yorktown - Scott Fitts - IN Tech/Mater Dei 157 - Nathan Conley - UIndy/Avon 165 - Jack Eiteljorge - UIndy/Carmel - Eliott Rodgers - Marian/Cathedral 174 - Bradley Harrington - Wabash/Ind. North Central 184 - Sam Osho - Wabash/Avon - Sam Morrill - UIndy/Columbus East - Cody Timmerman - IN Tech/Mishawaka 197 - Jack Servies - Marian/Perry Meridian - Phoenix Rodgers - UIndy/Heritage Hills - Derek Blubaugh - UIndy/Bloomington South 285 - Brayden Erb - IN Tech/Western These are just the 1-4 Placers from IN High Schools. There were a ton more in the tournament, but this is a decent list.
  2. A couple of other notes: Nick Lee won for Penn State Friday night beating #28 Carmen Ferrante 6-3. PSU had the flu run thru their team and did not wrestle Roman Bravo-Young, Aaron Brooks or Greg Kerkvliet. Reports said Nick looked extremely gassed in the 3rd period so it is likely he wasn't at full strength either. On 11/14 at the Jonathan Koulast Bearcat Open, Matt Lee at 165, beat 3rd ranked Julian Ramirez of Cornell 8-5. Ramirez beat National Champ Shane Griffith a week later in a dual meet. Ramirez lost to OSU's Carson Kharchla in the CKLV quarterfinal and is wrestling in the consis, assured of placing. Matt ultimately finished 2nd in that tournament, losing to a wrestler from Binghamton in the final
  3. The Cliff Keen Las Vegas invitational is this weekend with many top teams. Brayton Lee, Mason Parris and Gable Steveson are sitting this one out. Saturday update @141 Chad Red is in the semifinal and will face Andrew Alirez, the #2 seed from Northern Colorado. @197 Thomas Penola dropped his 2nd round match but has won 3 on the back side to guarantee 8th place. @285 Lucas Davison fell in the quarterfinal 5-3 to Yaraslau Slavikouski from Harvard. He won his blood round match and is guaranteed 8th place. Update with Placements @197 - Thomas Penola takes 3rd with a 6-5 upset over #9 and top-seeded Jake Woodley from Oklahoma. Nice win! @285 - Lucas Davison gets 5th Place with a fall over AJ Nevills of South Dakota State @141 - Chad Red finished in 3rd Place with a 6-1 win over Cole Mattin of Michigan.
  4. Any updates would be appreciated. Looking at the video isn't helping a lot. The scoreboard embedded on the Mat where MD is wrestling is for the other mat. No names announced or screen graphics. Have seen at least 2-3 MD wrestlers tossed onto their backs so I have no ide if that's JV or who is wrestling. Can't zoom in far enough to recognize anyone yet.
  5. Does this mean Althoff Cath. and Woodford Co. are not coming?
  6. It definitely belongs in Evansville. Though I learned the art of dunking ice cream sandwiches in a schooner of beer in Jasper. Life skills Evansville never taught me!
  7. Any streaming for this event? Last year it was on Track, but I didn't see it on a quick check yesterday.
  8. How many wrestlers will MD have available with football just ending? Will they be able to fill all classes?
  9. I'm looking forward to seeing matches with Gabe Sollars and John Purdy. I really think Purdy is destined for the top of the podium at State, but not sure he will get over the hump that is Sollars this year.
  10. I'll take a stab at it.... I don't think it's fair to say Chad has regressed. But it is fair to say he hasn't advanced to a level many would hope. He wrestles very timidly at times. Some times it works, other times he loses to guys a high All-American should beat. He also, fairly or unfairly gets compared to Nick Lee who scores points almost at will, has a high bonus rate and has finished higher than Chad every year. In my opinion, Chad has been a good college wrestler at times, a very good wrestler at times but not an exceptional one. A finish near the top of the podium would be great to see.
  11. Mater Dei will be there as well. Other than 285 James Ralph, I'm not sure what other wrestlers play football.
  12. I'm a little late to the party this year and wont have time to update like I have in the past. But all results, good or bad, from former Indiana HS'ers wrestling in college are welcomed! Please post date and tournament or dual with any results. Thanks! I'll start with a nice result today at the Daktronics Open for Silas Allred, taking the title. The field wasn't as deep as other weight classes, but he did get a nice win over Iowa State starter and #1 seed Yonger Bastida in the semifinal. Batisda pretty much controlled the first 6 minutes, getting 2 takedowns in the first period. Silas came out of a scramble to get a takedown and take Batisda straight to his back and got the fall. He was 3-0 on the day with 3 falls. Allred was wrestling Unattached for Nebraska. Looks like he'll sit this year behind Eric Schultz.
  13. Nice win! Mattyb, what is Carson's status these days?
  14. If this is legit, it looks like that may be coming to fruition. https://twitter.com/MrPatMineo/status/1458561691491373063?s=20
  15. Bottom half... Just not sure how close to the middle they can get. Can they beat Purdue? Northwestern? Illinois? Michigan State? Rutgers? I don't see them beating Iowa, Penn St., Ohio St., Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota, etc. The only school I could seem them clearly being better this year is Maryland. That doesn't mean they'll finish 2nd to last, just that there is a whole lot of gray in the middle to bottom of the conference.
  16. 2020 - 2021 was a free year. The Covid year (2019-2020) counted even though there was no National Tournament. Nick wrestled 4 straight years, taking no redshirt, so last year would have been his senior year. With it not counting, he is back for his Senior+ year this year. In theory, if Nick redshirted this year, he could return next year. But that's not happening. Hope that helps.
  17. Washington wrestled 184 in both of IU's duals this weekend. Brock Hudkins wrestled 133. Lineup Jacob Moran Brock Hudkins Cayden Rooks Graham Rooks Kasper McIntosh Matt Ortiz/Sammy Cokeley Nick South Donnell Washington Nick Willham Jacob Bullock
  18. Most of these guys have bigger dreams (Olympics, World Titles, etc). The Senior Circuit provides more money than in the past so guys can make a living. I believe Nick Lee stated at one point (I'm paraphrasing) that it can only make you better when you go to workout daily and get your ass kicked by some of the best in the World. The NLWC pretty much owned the Olympics this year, even having at least one medalist participating for another country. Part of that domination included medalists that relocated from Ohio State and Iowa. The cycle doesn't break until IU or Purdue can produce guys that will stick around after college to train. It's a tall order. The Regional Training Centers definitely provide an advantage.
  19. 2021 simply didn't count against eligibility whether he wrestled or not. Hence he can wrestle this year. Nothing to do with Olympics.
  20. Sadly, our guys are dropping like flies this morning in the consolation round. Hayden Watson, Sam Goin, J Conway, Drake Buchanan and Nathan Critchfield all lost in the blood round. Kade Law lost the round before. In the Championship bracket, IN got wins from all four in the quarterfinal to land them in the semifinals. - Sergio Lemley will face PJ Duke of NY. He would likely face #1 seed Cory Land from AL - Zeke Seltzer has a tough task facing Nik Bouzakis, an Ohio State commit and top seed. - Gabe Sollars knocked off #1 seed and Ohio State commit Seth Shumate. He was trailing 2-0, riding and cranking him almost getting him turned when somehow Shumate hurt his ankle and had to injury default. He'll face #4 seed Martin Cosgrove of NJ in the semifinal. - Christian Carroll has been obliterating everyone, winning all three matches by Fall thus far. He'll face #4 seed Parker Ferrell of VA in the semi Semifinal Update Lemley lost a tough 3-1 decision Seltzer lost by fall, getting caught in a cradle
  21. Not that I think it will make a difference in your attendance, but you left a little meat off Jason Nolf's accomplishments.... 4x NCAA All-American (2016-2019) 4x NCAA Finalist (2016-2019) 3x NCAA Champion (2017-2019) Looks like a good event. Hope the turnout is excellent!
  22. Without looking at lineups in detail, my gut tells me Brownsburg is probably the team to beat
  23. Mt. Carmel, IL - has been at Maurer Coughlin for at least a few years, I believe. Find the post IHPO interview after he won. Y2 did a nice job with it.
  24. If that's the case, Penn State and Michigan would seem to be the best choices. Penn State/NLWC is easily dominating the international scene right now. Michigan is solid and Ohio State has some guys, but I believe some of those are training elsewhere. Iowa/HWC is pretty much absent in that realm right now. Not sure how much Spencer Lee would be a draw for him.
  25. Anyone have any insights on where Jesse may be leaning in his college choice? I see he is visiting Iowa this weekend and my understanding is he was at Penn St. a few weeks ago.
