  1. I may be sick to my stomach if I have to root for Mendez at IU for four years

  2. I’d be good with that. And will buy you a case of Pepto if you need it.

  5. In my opinion how that match played out was a great turning point match for Mendez rise to a state title. I’m sure he knew he had the ability to take on the best in the state, but the course of that match put his feet to the fire enough to solidify that.

  6. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU head coach Angel Escobedo has announced the addition of three time All-American and NCAA Champion Jason Tsirtsis as a volunteer assistant coach. Tsirtsis, a native of Crown Point, Ind., where he won four state championships in high school, started his college career at Northwestern where in his redshirt freshman season he won the NCAA Championship at 149 lb. That year, in 2014, Tsirtsis also was the Big Ten Champion, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Intermat Freshman of the Year and Midlands Champion. Tsirtsis concluded his collegiate career in 2017-18 with Arizona State as an All-American with a seventh-place finish at NCAAs. He was named the Comeback Wrestler of the Year at the NCAA Championships by FloWrestling. I'm very excited to add Jason Tsirtsis to our staff,” Escobedo said. “Since day one, our focus has been to keep the best kids in state and I believe having an Indiana legend like Jason will help achieve this goal. He will work directly with our middle weights (149-165) and we are excited to have him join our program.” “I am extremely excited to join the wrestling family down in Bloomington,” Tsirtsis said. “Angel has done a great job at changing the culture within the program and I'm thrilled to help further the growth & development of our wrestlers. I can't wait to get down to Bloomington!” View full article

  7. J.tsirtsis lost multiple times and had close match vs Devon jackson who's a 3x under the lights finalist(this takes nothing from his accomplishments and i'm splitting hairs here) .Jesse hasn't hardly given up any offensive points if any yet ...Angel Escobedo and Alex Tsirtsis were the most dominant I've seen next to mason parris... Lance Ellis ws ws decent too..but I'll say this Jason beat #1 nationally ranked guy as a freshman and no other guy can say that ...but then again Jesse is #1.

  8. Jesse will be defending his #1 ranking... hopefully in Carver Hall. The Viper pit looked like a cool venue, but I think Hawkeye nation will have way better attendance... plus are family and friends won't have that far to drive. We are so pumped about this.

    Indiana's Best Ever...

I made a post earlier about the best one-time state champion earlier, but it got me thinking... Who is Indiana's best ever based on accomplishments in HS alone? I've picked my top three, and it was very difficult choosing the third one. 1. Chad Red - 4x undefeated state champion (2013-16), Fargo champion, Super 32 champion, Flo national champion, Flo #1 at WNO, #7 P4P 2. Jason Tsirtsis - 4x state champion (2009-12), Fargo champion, 2x Flo national champion, FILA Cadet champion, FILA JR placer 3. Alex Tsirtsis - 4x undefeated state champion (2001-04), Fargo runner-up, FILA JR sixth place, Midlands competitor as a high school student (3rd ever).

  10. If you're putting Sliga in there for his dominant senior year, there's no way you can leave Andrew Howe off that list. 3x Champ with his loss in the finals freshman year coming to a senior Reece Humphrey. Then actually did tech his way through the state tournament his senior year, and did it without really breaking a sweat.
