On Tuesday, January 20, 2015, Castle High School will host Evansville Memorial High School in the 3rd annual Military Appreciation Wrestling match.  In the first two years, over $2,000 has been raised.  The first year, the money was given to Wounded Warrior Project and last year given to Operation Homefront.  This year, once again, the two teams will be giving to Operation Homefront (http://www.operationhomefront.net).  Their mission is to offer relief during a crisis, a place to recover after serving, and to recognize those who have sacrificed for our country.  Please join us at 6pm for this dual.

We will also be collecting items to send in care packages for soldiers who are currently overseas.  Items that we will be collecting include:Toothpaste/toothbrushes, Chapstick, Hard/Rock Candy, Decks of Cards, Dental Floss, Wet Wipes, Drink Packets, Deodorant, Pens and Paper, Crackers, and anything else you would be willing to offer to our soldiers.

Jon H - thanks for letting us know about the paper misprint and thanks for attending in previous years even though you back a certain blue and grey school that sits on a hill.  We hope everyone comes out tonight to watch and give to a good cause.  The coaching staffs at Castle and Memorial feel very strongly about this event and the need to do something like this each year.  We hope that tonight is a successful night.  So many people take for granted the freedom that we all have.  We all need to be more aware of the sacrifices that are made to provide that freedom.

By far, the match of the night was Ramsey and Wargel. This was a match of 2 bulls colliding.

Ramsey in first with a takedown 2-0. Then Wargel with a reversal and put Ramsey on his back. Score 4-2 after 1st.

Wargel takes down and get escape 5-2 rest of period was a lot of action with no point either way unbelievably. Ramsey down to start the 3rd. Quick escape 5-3 with a lot of action to follow. Wargel stands up to take deep breath and Ramsey bull rushes catching Wargel on his back for the fall.

Great match and I look forward to their next match.

Much thanks to Memorial and Castle for bringing this dual to us, but selflessly donating to such a worthy cause!

Great turn out for a Tuesday night dual and a lot of great matches...

Final Score was 55-14 Castle, but Memorial has some very talented kids that are going to be hard to beat in the coming weeks no matter who they face.

Much respect to these two great programs for not only wrestling their butt off, but doing it for such a great cause... And to the fans that came out and enjoyed the meet and gave to the cause...

One other note on the night was that Memorial's team is hurting bad.  The score would have been much closer had it not been for three forfeits.  Five Memorial wrestlers are out with injury/illness. Let's hope they are at full strength come sectional time.  The future is bright for the Tigers with their strong Sophomore class.
