How to move up in Class for Team Duals State Finals (by MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!!)

Good Catholic sportsman! How could you question their honor? That's just petty! ::)

It's called respect to a team that has done nothing but improve the name of wrestling in our state and never had a "recruiting" issue come to light for anyone to even make the acquisition.

Actually, the o6-07 team that won state had Alex Weinzapfel, Jake Scchneider, and Zach Goebel.

The 05-06 team had those 3 plus Bart Schaefer (another common MD name) and Jeremy Goebel.

02-03 had Matt Coughlin (common MD name) Craig Weinzapfel, Nathan Weinzapfel, Blake Maurer, Jason Coughlin

01-02 the same without N. Weinzapfel and J. Coughlin, with Conkling

00-01 had Craig W., Blake M., Eric DeWig (common MD name), Allen Weinzapfel, Conkling

99-00 had Goebel, Dewig, Conkling X2(MD common name), Riggs, Allen Weinzapfel

98-99 had Conkling, Dewig

97-98 had Greg Schaefer, Mike DeWitt, Brandon Boots, (Boots and DeWitt more generational names at MD)

96-97 had Schaefer, Boots, Schroeder

So YES would be your answer every single MD team that has won a championship has had multiple names that have or had generations of wrestlers at MD.

that's pretty awesome but still you gotta admit, it's crazy that a school this size could win state that many times period, let alone in a row.....

Like I said 30% of your wrestlers are not recruited that still leaves 70%.  Statistics do not lie.  So if your going to come on hear and try and say that every year Matre Dei happens to have several quality 103's 112's and 119's every year I am not going to listen the statistics don't lie.

Thanks for clearing my statistics up it proves my point more.  Don't get me wrong there are some family names in the bunch, but lets get real for a second.   It is statistically impossible for a team of that size with an equal playing field to win 9 straight titles.  Not improbable impossible.  The math doesn't back up your claims.  Even if you had the best coaches, the greatest parents, the best equipment, and every other advantage I can think about it is statistically impossible to do what they have done without recruiting.  I am sorry, but to fill 14 weight classes and have years when you have 12 go to state from a school of that size is rediculous to think people aren't going to call you out.

Ps.  Boiler its a JV dual meet no one else in the state takes forfeits.  Which bring me to my next point it is also statistically improbable to have several kids under 119(old wieght) pounds in a school of 250 boys.  To do it damn near every year is a crock.

If Mater Dei has a chance to win in each of thses years, then statistically, they can win 9 in a row. Let me explain...if the probability of their winning is 1 out of 10 (.1), then the probability of winning twice is (.1x.1 or .01), three times is (.1 x .1 x .1 = .001) and so on. Then the probability of winning 9 in a row is (.1) to the 9th power or .000000001. That is improbable, but not impossible. In order for Mater Dei to have no chance of pulling off this feat, there would have to be a year in which their probability of success was 0. That year has NEVER happened. So contrary to your claims of statistical impossibility, it is statistically possible.

I guess MD should just say "Thank you" for the compliment and move on.  For someone to claim they are making the impossible a reality is very nice.  Obviously, ttipton has been an admirer for quite sometime.

Sometimes you have to simplify things ttipton, they tend to not understand complicated matters.

Now please do me a favor and point out ONE just ONE wrestler on any on these championship teams that you know was "RECRUITED". Until then your argument is ignorant and makes you look flat out jealous.

I think it is astonishing that a school that small can do it. But, other than wrestling and some football what else is MD known for? These kids' grandpas were wrestling for MD and doing well so it makes sense as to why they could pull it off.

Me to but I will play along with it.  So to Matre Dei fans:  If I can agree with you that there is no recruiting going on can you agree with me that statistics do not lie and it is statistically impossible to do what you are doing with 200-250 kids with a completly level playing field?  If so why haven't you declared a moveup to face better competition?  My ultimate arguement is to make this the best tournament possible.  I think Matre Dei and all there success no matter how they got there is an exception and we as a wrestling community just want to know what class you are going.  1a 2a or 3a.

Pretty sure Thornton just proved to you that it isn't statistically impossible. Btw, I'm not a MD fan, I live 3+ hours away. I just have a common respect for a great program and get tired of trolls like you making this same invalid argument every single year.

I have never once said they don't have a tremendous program, but I will stand by my statements it is statistically impossible to have the talent they have with 200-250 kids to pick from without those kids either being recruited or hand selected.  So what class are they going?

Come out to Mater Dei on Super Bowl Sunday and watch opening day for the feeder league.  You will see nearly 300 kids take to the mats representing the schools that feed MD.

You say we steal kids from Reitz?  I believe that Reitz has a kid in their varsity line up that wrestled for 2 years at MD.  However, you cannont find one kid that was in the reitz feeder league anywhere in the MD wrestling room.

I've got an idea.  MD will worry about class they are going and, ttipton, you can worry about something else.  I have no idea what MD will do and frankly, don't care.  What they decide will be it and everybody will have to move on.  That being said, they are classing this for a reason.  As others have argued, a team moving up distorts the picture for other teams.  Who really would be the best in Class A if MD moves, would it still be MD or not?   What if they only move up to AA?  Would that be enough for you, or should they move all the way up to AAA?  Or are you just a fan of an Class A team that doesn't want to face MD?  All anyone can do is play within the rules and no matter what MD decides they are certainly doing that.

So why are you defending them again? I think this is hilarious that someone would actually think their isn't recruitment going on! Ya know what? Center Hill doesn't recruit Basketball or Football players either.

Like i said earlier COMMON RESPECT. Plus the fact that i've seen this argument squashed several times in the past. I gave you guys their rosters for 9 state championship teams and you haven't given me one name that was recruited. So, why would anyone take your argument seriously?

Another Mater Dei teacher folks!

Actually he's from Perry Meridian.
