ENoblewrestling
Ok so if we could get it classed I think that an easy way to do it would be geographically. You could have 16 sectionals. They wrestle a team sectional the week of sectionals at a nuetral or teams sight depending on location. Eah sectional would have 6-7 teams so eather one team or two teams would get a bye. One sectional would have 5 teams, the southeast corner of the state due to travel issues and the fact that there are really only five 1-A schools down there. After the sectionals the week of regionals the two winning teams would meet up. Winners would be your final eight and at the state tournament. I divided the seven and six school sectionals up everyother one for the sake of the simulation. I tried to go as geographical as possible. Ill show you what I came up with, im going to do it in eight different threads so my screen doesent bounce around on me. Let me know what you think, consider travel time for both sectionals and regional. Any flaw you see please let me know.

bwfan
I have read these class wrestling posts for the last 5 years, and have never commented because I have never seen it as being anything but fantaciful. But now it looks like this is actually gathering steam. So here are my two cents: I understand class wrestling from a team standpoint, but for the individual tournament it makes zero sense. It is already classed by weight. There is not an individual advantage attending a huge school. If I am a 135 pound wrestler, it does not matter if I go to a school of 50 or 5000, I still have to be better than every 135 pound wrestler in the state to win the 135 pound title. I get it now. Let's have 3...no.. 4...no... 5 class champions and then give their practice partners a trophy also as the top tackling dumbie for each class. It is better to be a small fish in a big pond, then a small fish in a small pond.

headlock83
Yes, we are only talking classing the team portion right now. However. once the IHSAA gets the teams settled into classes the next natural step would be to class the individual tournament. Trust me it will happen. And it will ruin one of the greatest high school sporting events of all time. I don't care what 40 of the other states have done. They have probably ruined wrestling in those states. I have been to Illinois state finals and it most definitely can't compare to the excitement and intensity of the state finals in Indy. Say what you want, but classing the team portion is still a step back for our sport. Just one man's opinion.

Indianapolisfan11
Great Job looks very ineresting...i feel that some schools though like broad ripple, and arsonal tech for example have more people at their school to be in a higher class, but not as many people come out for wrestling for us...im sure other large schools may have this problem
