The press release will either be tomorrow (Friday) or early next week. The committee members will receive a copy of the press release before it is released. When I receive the e-mail I will post info on this site. Sorry to keep everyone waiting and wondering.

I have attached a quote from the most recent NFHS meeting.........http://www.themat.com/section.php?section_id=3&page=showarticle&ArticleID=21929

"Perhaps as significant as the changes approved by the committee was one that was not. After much discussion, the committee voted against changing the wrestling weight classes and will stay with the 14 weight classes currently in place in the NFHS Wrestling Rules Book. Three proposals were considered by the committee this year on changing the wrestling weight classes.

?The response from member state associations was divided equally between Option B and making no change,? Pleimann said. ?The committee, with no clear choice from the membership, did not believe it was appropriate to make a change in the weight classes just for the sake of change. However, the committee did request the NFHS to conduct another survey on wrestling weight classes during the 2010-11 season.? "

So does the fact that they'll be conducting another survey during the 10/11 season mean that the proposal to change the weight classes will be hanging around indefinitely, year after year, with no end is sight?  Seems to me they should either do something or table it for a set period of time like 3 or 4 years.  The unknown is what's frustrating to me.

This is one of those topics that won't go away until a change is made.  Kind of like the casino bill in Ohio.  It's going to eventually happen, the question is when?

The survey will only have two choices: stay with the currente weights or option B. An overwhelming majority of respondents favored change, but there was not a strong majority for any of the choices. Having only one choice will give the wrestling community to decide if they want this specific change.

Got it.  So it seems that if there is going to be change it will be voted on next year again at this same time (Mar/Apr timeframe) and changes will be institiuted for the 2012/2013 season.  Accurate?
