I was right there and saw the whole incident. Don't know what was said for sure, but I've been around long enough to not make a judgement on a kid's life expectancy on his competiveness and desire to win. Bob teaches his kids to wrestle hard! Stan (Pike's coach) has a jewel in Kendall. He had a great day and beat 2 dynamite kids in Kief and Kuhn.

It did get out of hand a bit, but Kief will be back...as will Kendall. Congrats to Cody!! And Kief...I'm sure he'll learn from this and be back better than ever next year. Just one man's opinion and don't mean to piss anyone off.

bb145 you are self employed great, you must write for one of those gossip magazines that like to put people down everyday and make your money on making people look bad in the public's eye.Kids are kids they all have to learn from mistakes in life if you don't make mistakes in life how can you better yourself? How can you become an adult without making mistakes apparently you were a perfect child with a perfect childhood, I guess you were one of the lucky ones in this troubled life.

Put people down? You cant put someone down who already put himself down in the first place. He will know the mistake he made more than anyone. Whats making it worse is your attempt to clear stupid actions that have already occurred and then justify plausible reasons for which it was done. It was a mistake yes, he will learn from it hopefully, BUT that mistake will never go away and there isn't an excuse for it. And please dont pretend you know what my life was like, although what magazine do you believe I write for? Maybe teen beat, Maxim, or playboy!

Fruitchillers listen to yourself...when it is all said and done 3-5 years done the road with the attitude he has where he is going to be with his life???? TROUBLE... If he is going to come back next year he better have a new attitude or sadly his career could end like the senior from Harrison. Get him the help he needs so he can compete...

What happened with the Harrison kid?

theman keep talking this day and age you have to have alittle bit of that in you to get anywhere. unless you want to sit back and make 20,000 a year and go home and eat tv dinners and watch seinfield, like I said I agree bad sportsmanship for the team and coaches and Kief , lesson to be learned

BB145 not trying to clear actions or make excuses people like you have to always get your little two cents in, which is probably what you make, to please yourself instead of thinking about the kids, they are just kids the sooner you realize that the better off you will be. Goodnite

Started out with Welch getting in a Bearhug and then Richey took double overhooks over the top and almost put Welch on his back. They scrambled into a stale mate. Then for the next 20 seconds 6 points were scored. Takedown Welch, reversal Richey, then reversal Welch. After that it gets hazzy. Second round Welch gets escape and takedown I think. I wish I could be more help but it was high paced match. After the first period tho, Welch took control. Richey wouldnt quit tho.

everybody keep talking about dustin kief and about what happened after the match, everybody loves when there is action like that. It is drama and you all love it. the fans  and the media thrive on it. It is all about the kid that gets pissed off when he loses. you all keep talking about it and keep putting your little messages about it. he has a little bit of a temper when somebody pushes his buttons, which kendle did without refs seeing it, but when it is all said and done 3-5 years down the road lets see where he is in life with an attitude that he has and a GPA he has and then we can all come back and talk about it. Kids like him will make it in life when it comes push to shove, and this day will be forgotten. you all probably work for somebody like him now! I agree bad sportsmanship today at end of match no matter how you lose. Have a great evening we are proud of his accomplishments this year and he will be back next year even stronger and you all can keep running your mouth its like entertainment tonite, who is the bad guy?

I'd hope he isn't the principal in charge of the school I teach at.   So, are we the bad people for talking about it?  I know it was your wrestler involved but maybe try to look at it in an unbiased way?  Many other kids wrestling their last match of their high school careers acted with class.  If his attitude is a measure of his GPA how is he eligible to wrestle?

grecoisu you have the score wrong at the end of third period and you must of heard and seen the very ending of the match. you guys are funny on here when you try to tell everyone what really happened and you really don't know what happened, if you don't know the whole story then don't comment . You must be a writer for national enquirer! if not you should be!

Um... Should I explain to everyone about the double grapevine/Saturday Night ride he was in?  Yes, I watched the match...  Had he connected with the punch you'd still try to defend him.  Must be his somehow proud papa.

The way Kief acted I'll say as many negative comments as needed.  He embarrassed himself, his school and his coaches today.  You should never be satisfied with a loss but to act in that manner sh0uld never happen...

For those who don't know the whole story I was there today and watched the event take place.

Kief was put to his back while tied 2-2 in the 3rd period.  He managed to get off of his back and was either rode out or got taken down again at the end.  The other wrestler got up after the whistle was blown excited that he manged to get to state.  His fan section was a crossed the facility and he got up and looked at them and screamed with excitement.  Kief then brought back his arm to throw a hay-maker but the arm was grabbed by the official before it connected.   He then tried to fight through the official and coaches cursing while trying to get to the other kid as he is being booed by just about everyone.  After finally getting him off of the wrestling surface he went through the tunnel shouting more obscenities and we heard a really loud noise.  Apparently he threw or knocked over (hard) a safety barrier fence.  The security then escorted him somewhere that I didn't see.

Nothing that happened to Kief was shady or not fair.  We all know in wrestling that it's just you two on the mat to decide things and today Kief was beaten.  There is NO excuse for acting in way he did today.

Everybody should keep there mouths shut untill they know all of the facts.  Mabey this kid has "ausperger's" syndrome.

Maybe? Or he does have it? If you know the facts let us know, it would help.

1st of all, What an awesome display of wrestling today in Evansville!

Congrats to those who have moved on to state, and congrats to those who qualified for SS but was unfortunate not to move on today! You all should be proud of your accomplishments!!

Just a few of my opinions about some of the kids:

Cody Kendall what can you say? Beats Kief in the ticket round and then pins the previously undefeated Kuhn. Amazing day for this young man.

Kief: I seen the incident, do not want to speculate but NOTHING said would of made me act that way!! You are a bright young man with a tremendous future in the sport you love. Keep your head up!

Welch's (Include Luke!) You guys are the best I have seen on top! One gives up 1 point to Simms the other has  pin and 2 Tech Falls before handling Richey

Ritchey, WOW that is all I can say..... this kid is BIG!

Josh Sampson 145lber (edgewood maybe? Mustangs) this kid was the ultimate class act, showed respect for his opponents after a victory and congratulated the Welch after defeat. Helped everyone up off the mat every match I watched. Ultimate Sportsman!

Stein & Weiss IV Stein ties series 2-2. Only losses by each wrestler by the hands of the other. These guys know each other in and out and show great sportsmanship every step of the way.

All in all a good day even though only one of my Tigers have moved on (Best of luck to the WHOLE Evansville SS next week in INDY!)

Josh Sampson is from New Washington, and you're right classy young man and Great Coaches

Thanks, couldn't remember the school.

Very impressed with his actions both in victory and in his only defeat.

Need more like him in all sports!

Great comments!!!  Love the positives.  Lots of great sportsmanship happened, and never gets the attention that the bad sportsmanship does.  I'm proud every time I see my nephews (or any wrestler) give an extra handshake, pat on the back, or word of encouragement, win or lose.

Weiss and Stein both handle themselves very well. To go back and forth all year in such close, heated matches with the loser always smiling or shaking hands is impressive. Last weekend when Weiss beat Stein I seen a little smile on Steins face and a head nod like he knew he would see him again. These two are impressive.

That is simple The Refs don't apply those rules anymore.  The most you may get is a point but don't hold your breathe.  So go on kids stall your way to a state title or if that doesn't work just run as hard as you can to the out of bounce line on your feet, Ride the hips on top, and try as hard as you can to get your one on bottom.  Hopefully the other kid doesn't have the same strategy.  Either way don't worry the refs will allow you to bore me to tears with your stalling rituals and you might (if you are the best staller) even win a state championship.
