D-train
pro- it does prove that a 4th place guy from a strong regional at a given weight can knock off a champ from a lesser regional. therefore giving guys an extra chance to get downstate. con- it takes a lot of drama out of the do or die 3rd place match at regionals, and to a lesser extent the urgency of winning the semi match at regionals. con- makes semi-state take FOR-EVER! fire77
it does take forever but, there is some great wrestling so it was well worth it. i dont know how many # 4 qualified for state but , the # 4 seeds did a good job and showed they definately belong. decbell1
It can not last this long next year............. That being said, there were definitely some guys out there today that qualified for state as a #4 seed that deserved it. All they need to to at Fort Wayne is go one more round with 4 mats before they cut down to 2.
D-train
overall, i am for it. while it is not quite the equalizer that wrestlebacks would prove to be in negating bad draws, it does make for a stronger field downstate.
WrestlingFan
well fort wayne semi-state did take two i say two thirty minute breaks i say if we cut these in down a little that would help.

BlueBolt
We in Evansville got to watch a young man from Jasper (171) not only take the 4th place finishers spot, but advance into the Ticket Round by pinning a 43-2 Wrestler. I would have to say that is one piece of proof that it's a worth while addition.

allyourbase
We used to have(in the internet age) 2 from Secs 3 from Regs 4 from Semis the rest try and WIN. I guess along the way this was not good or fair enough for each and everyone.
buckpatrol
I Left Merrillville at 8:30 then drove home for almost an hour lol, 4 was fun but it did make for a long day. It was awesome though to see 2 - # 4 seeds make it down to conseco congrats to Medina and Bakalik.

macdaddy
I personally would rather have a round of wrestlebacks than 4 from regionals. Merrillville took forever in a small crowded gym. Definitely need a new venue!

TheAncientElder
It did shoot down the old theory that the #1 seeds were at a disadvantage by not having a first round match. buckpatrol
Well there is always the option of doing it like Illinois does, they have wrestle backs but start on Friday night w/ round 1 just like state.
tangarrray
I would agree wih Buckpatrol. Some how we need to get wrestlebacks involved in Indiana, there were some very good ticket round matches that sent some kids home that should still be going to Indy. The only way to do it would be by starting on Friday and going 1 or 2 rounds or else we will be at M'ville till midnight on a Saturday. Having the 4's there was ok, but with the shorter breaks they need to provide chiropractic adjusments during those 30 minute breaks ;D Congrats and good luck to everyone next weekend. 100%
The Jasper kid was a 4th place finisher at the sectional. Did not place at Regionals. He was an alternate and beat a #1seed.
