  1. 165 - Garrett Pederson Pendleton Heights fall #11 Richardson Noblesville 144 - Jack Todd Pendleton fall #20 Pughe Ham Heights
  2. I know this is about not winning a championship. But after the finish totals it got me thinking about that. And this doesn’t apply but can anyone help spark my memory. There was a kid from Belmont around early 2000 that won as a freshman and finished 3rd 3x(finish total of 10) I’m drawing a blank.
  3. https://t.co/dxc5OtXz6P First, this is rhetorical. No need to start rambling off names of kids we all already know are supposed to be juniors and are freshman/sophomores this year. But, I do know this has been brought to the ISHAAs attention and they are interested in a similar policy in the future. When? Who knows! This has been discussed in other posts. So we do know it’s happening here in the Hoosier state. How much do you think this affects some of our younger kids success locally? How much do we think this starts to affect power house states who are known for this(OH,PA)?? Do we see them start to slide? I’d say we can say goodbye to 3x MS state champs. I also remember Y2 posting a stat a few years back about freshman making it to state above 126/132. (Slim Pickens) So it will be very interesting to see how this starts to affect the wresting landscape. PA is not backdating this ruling just 8th graders moving forward. Any chance the IHSAA back dates and kids lose Jr/Sr years? Or includes all MS years(6th/7th/8th)? This should get interesting across the board.
  4. Pendleton is bringing 7. Lots of young talent back in the room next year.
  5. Boy, this was a really unpleasant experience all around.
  6. This is less about arbitrary weight class changes and more about other more prominent wrestling states, cough cough PA, wanting less HS weight classes. I never understood the less is more concept here but do understand it’s hard to get big guys out. Nationally I think theyll end up settling on 12 but we’ll see where it goes. PS - 12 is a travesty. And it’ll be hard for everyone to comprehend but it’s better than 10 or 11 and that’s what some states are after.
  7. Indiana is slowly turning into Ohio in this matter. And I understand the rules of 19 and under but I have a Junior that could be held back twice and still meet that rule. Does that mean I should? He has kids who started in his grade now one or even two grades below him. That’s wild! And there’s no denying it will or does pay off in MS and HS but doesn’t always pay off in the off season or college. It’s just a weird approach to life. To each their own.
  8. I don’t know about actual numbers and upsets in the sectionals. But we have thought that of this year as a whole. Lots of A beats B, B beats C, C beats A. Lots of unknown unpredictable matches outside the top 3-5 in most weight classes.
  9. Pendleton 145 Kiner #16 Todd #4 Graham #9 Franklin #24 Fettig(has been ranked and #8 in SS) Talyor Unranked 32-4 Fettig v Franklin first round, winner gets Graham in the semis Todd v Kiner in the semis Pendleton 220 Hastings #4 Kendrix #7 Brown #21 Johnson #10 Weingart #6 Brown v Johnson first round, winner gets Weingart in the semis Hastings v Kendrix in the semis There are others with 3 state ranked kids(120) or multiple SS ranked kids. Highest match up of the day will come from #6 Branham and #3 Smith at Hvy in the finals. Should be a good day all around!
  10. Bahl and Krieja both missing from 145 as well??
  11. Sorry just catching up to classes. What are the actual enrollment numbers to distinguish classes for wrestling? 1a<? 2a between x - y? etc.
  12. At the end of North Montgomery looks like the 3 previously mentioned from Rochester, Jack Todd 145 28-0 and Titus Waters 285 25-0. Waters winning OW, looking impressive both days. Very athletic big man.
