  1. 1proud, I think the coaches missed the call on the outstanding match (Timberman vs. Lee). Regardless of who you supported in the match, you have a big gripe with the referee. Coach Red certainly did. Literally, every fan in the building was upset--during the match. On top of that, out of bounds resets and blood time-outs were too numerous to count. I cannot remember a match that has required more time to reach a conclusion. Zero momentum. Timberman and Lee are tremendous; if you are 145-pounds, you do not want to wrestle either of them. Meanwhile, the 120 title match provided a ton of action, excitement and stress--in a 3-1 decision. Two great kids and a match that eventually turned on a gutsy, last second escape in the second period. Hats off to Union County's champ, Saul Ervin, and Mater Dei's Kyle Luigs. As a Mater Dei fan, I was disappointed with both outcomes. Under the same circumstances, I would sit at home for another Lee/Timberman match-up; I would pay $8 just see Luigs/Ervin, part 2.
  2. Indy- You make a very good point. The fortunate (or unfortunate) thing about message boards is that the very vocal minority become the de facto spokespersons for their school's fan base. Witness the 13-14 season, a certain Hobart coach's non-stop drum beating predicting a "Black-Out" state podium run. Remember? What did that do for Hobart's reputation? What did that do for the freshman wrestler? Did it help him, or hurt him? This year's Warren Central team is a force of nature. I have vivid memories of Caliboy. Somewhere, right now, between his Crayola snacks, Cailboy is adjusting his drool bucket and contemplating a new screen name. Brownsburg has a tremendous team and looks to be a player for the foreseeable future. This is great for Indiana wrestling and a model for programs that wish to take the step. That being said, #paintrain, #bringthepain, #bringthepaintrain, #atbrowsburgwebringthepaintrain....is exhausting. You want a lot of attention; be careful what you ask for. On the other hand, I could be wrong. Drum-beating, whining, self-promotion and smack talk could be the key to intimidating the opposition and putting your team over the top. Pardon, the "over the top" pun. Completely unintentional.
  3. It is tuff. Move CAT to any of the other quarter brackets, and they still get two losses hung on them. Destabilizing AND tuff
  4. I do not see it. In each dual, cathedral is a favorite in only four matches. Perry and penny are both "big match" teams. It would take a monster effort and some breaks for ic to come close to either club.
  5. this is a dual event. at last year's dual meet title meet, perry was second, penn was third and cathedral was 10th. that being said, i'm not sure how last year's finishes are relevant (graduation, skill improvement, weight gain, etc). as far as a screw job, i am willing to wager that perry prefers penn in their bracket rather than portage, md or browsburg.
  6. I I predict that md gets blown out by a browns burg/perry/penn/portage all star team.
  7. mater dei wins 2 decisions; bburg wins 7 of the "clear cuts." md wins three of the five toss ups. final score: md- 15 bburg- 27
  8. does joe's match have a webcast?
  9. Perry has been successful for a very long time, pre-dating Jim Tonte. That being said, Tonte was at the helm for their meteoric rise. It will be interesting to see how much of an "X-factor" that he is. While this is great news for Warren, it is bad news for everyone else. Warren already has a tremendous program; I expect Tonte to bump it up to the next level.
  10. Is that the woulda/coulda/shoulda championship ?
  11. I'm not sure that the rest of indiana really appreciates the dominance of the MSS. But then again, what would a reasonable person expect from a SS that contains da region? To make it easier on the rest of the state, probably should let the other three semis combine for a "I won a state title only because merrellville was not in it" state title. This is why "team state" is a joke. There is no possible way that perry, md or warren could hang with schools from da region.
  12. Wrong. Lee was awarded a rev/td plus three backs, making it 7-4. He switched off to a half for the fall.
  13. Who said anything about james getting "caught"? James was behind when he got pinned. Cash was behind when he won. He saw an opportunity and capitalized. What does deserve have to do with it? I thought outcomes were determined by performance within the rules. Your arguments are preposterous
  14. Newcaliboy It's been an expensive weekend. Have any more tips for MD fans who wish to save time and $$$, if ya want?
  15. An upset, but not a huge one. Joe wrestled a very conservative match at team state. At the end of the match, James was exhausted and joe was fresh. A big win, to be sure, but MD fans are neither shocked nor surprised.
  16. With your command of the language, grammar and communication skills, you are the best qualified poster to take over Caliboy's position. Your name is now Newcaliboy.
  17. Here's a tip to save you heartache and ridicule..if YA want! You are a moron! Your semi-coherent pigeon-English posts confirm that. This tip is free...saves ya $$ and saves the rest of us time! Everyone wins!
  18. Joe- Please clarify. The IHSAA has some method of drawing the brackets. The draws were reflected in the brackets posted by Indiana Mat. When they gathered on Sunday, the brackets they had were different from the ones that were drawn, so they arbitrarily changed the brackets. Is that correct?
  19. One legal tactic, when a case is being lost, is to intentionally affect a mistrial. The reset button gets pushed and a new trial begins. Is this what happened in Merrellville? Someone did not like the draw and released the brackets knowing that it would affect a redraw? Maybe, maybe not. Prove me wrong. This is the problem. Does the IHSAA have codified rules in place stating that if brackets are released early, that they will be redrawn? If so, they need to come forward and show their policy. That will put this to bed. Otherwise, I recommend that you get a copy of the draw and see whether or not it is favorable to your team. If it is not, circulate the draws, affecting a new one. Wash, rinse, repeat. This stinks to high heaven.
  20. I don't understand. Is this a rule? Who makes the decision to redraw brackets?
  21. Other than the part about bumping heads, every other statement you made is factually incorrect. Kudos to the medical staff at the ford center. They were on the spot and incredibly responsive. The Danville coaches were also gracious and tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to resolve the problem. Good luck to Elliot Molloy at state. John S, Johnson
  22. he meant made. as in "made" by the home school mafia. settle down, troll.
  23. Besides having the coolest name in the biz, Courvoiser Marrow has a 7-1 over Grable last week at the Sectional. He's my pick to win it is the coolest! any idea how he pronounces it?
