Rough way to end Willis' career. He's a great kid and I hate to see that. Kid was walking and talking. Not sure what kept him from wrestling. That's not the way you want to essentially end an incredible dual meet.

WCWF you have 6 sectional champs but come in last place at the MIC. Only scored 47 points at the county I believe. If you can't beat out the TH teams at the MIC then there are some problems. Not saying it can't or won't happen. However if it does WC needs to start wrestling with some consistency. Roncali is going to run away with this one. They have turned it on at the right time.

Northwest with a big win tonight at the IPSAC! No Price or Thurman for Tech. Heard Price has an injury. Arlington freshman Purdue voted co-outstanding wrestler at 171. The other co winner was a 4th place guy from Washington. I don't understand how a 4th placer can be the outstanding wrestler. Washington's coach won coach of the yr award. Harris 215 from Northwest looks like a force to be delt with later on. If he keeps improving his stamina watch out!

Read the comments posted on the Indianapolis Star's website that are attached to this article. Says a lot about how ready people in our community are for change in the system and how hungry people are for leadership. Don't let this story die or fade away, or we will all be doing Coach Mendoza, and the risk he's taking, a great disservice.

And I imagine you smack your kid everytime he spills his milk? Give me a break. Nobody's saying kids are perfect. I'd be the first one to condone some kind of punishment if a kid strays from what he knows is "right". And I realize people boo all the time. It's nothing knew. But Willis just got injured. That's all. Not rocket science. He got hurt. There was no secret conspiricy to get him into the finals. Get over it. Because I'm sure he will and will be back next year ready for another great year.

Even if I agreed with this statement, which I don't, he didn't do anything "wrong". He just got injured. Punished for no crime.

Charlie's not a coach, he's a student/athlete simply defending one of his best friends. You, however, based on what seems to be semi-intelligent grammar, are probably a grown adult making excuses for other grown adults for booing a kid, which is about as childish as booing a 15 year old kid in the first place. You don't like the coaches, email the school. Or the IHSAA. I know coach McGinley well and he's nothing if not a class act. I can't defend coach Rhodes because I don't know the man. But wherever you're from or who you root for, I'm guessing coach McGinley has given you more respect than what you appear to deserve. Nothing excuses the behavior exhibited by those fans on Saturday. And any adult would know that.
