  1. Worth noting Byrd a redshirt sophmore already has two 5th place finishes at NCAAs. Mendez also took out NCAA qualifier and current 19th ranked Drury 5-0 in the semis. There is a lot of the season to go, but Mendez showed the rest of DI that he’s definitely had All-American ability this season.
  2. You would figure he’d have one but I thought he may get a year or two at 133 (one at even 125 maybe) before that type of jump.
  3. I think the 133 situational comes down to when Tom Ryan wants to start putting all his chips in for multiple title runs. If he’s wanting both Bouzakis and Mendez in the lineup as soon as possible he probably starts Bouzakis this year at 133 and redshirts Mendez in hopes he get to a solid 141 by next season. If he’s fine waiting two years then he may start Jesse this year at 133 and redshirt Bouzakis, then start Bouzakis next year at 133 and redshirting Jesse to give him the year to get to 141. So they both are in the lineup at 133 and 141 in a few years and with multiple years experience under their belts too. I think those are the senecios he’s had to work out. But obviously all that could change if one of them make huge gains in ability vs. college studs, puts on weight than current expectations, or if the injury bug to anyone details OSU projections for the next few season.
  4. Maybe split it to 106A (around 98lb) and 106B (closer to 106lb)?
  5. Yes, but college wrestle-offs hold as much weight as winning your elementary school PE class pickle ball tournament.
  6. I live here and themat.com is more like my lake house. Well at least I used to be. I guess I need to look at some new lakefront property.
  7. But honestly a lot less advantages now than before, when you look at the open enrollment trends of public schools. Or maybe rather some public schools are now able to have some of those private school like advantages than they could have in years past.
  8. It would be a bitter-sweet result for Wabash to be awarded the title after these findings. A well deserved honor for them, but sad they never had the chance to truly celebrate that national title as a team.
  9. Technically IU won a national title in the pre-WWII era in 1932. It probably helped it was hosted at Indiana in the time where schools often choose to just send who they thought could compete due up little financial commitment to the program. Purdue and IU also have a runner-up spot in the earlier days, as well.
  10. Dang. I wouldn’t have predicted it, but I love to see it. Hope Team Indiana can find some more of those.
  11. Elor use of Judo technique completely threw a few of her opponents off their game. She had a great performance and to boot she’s only 18. If some of the top contenders can’t figure out how to negate her style we may be hearing about this young lady for awhile.
  12. Good pickup considering the loss of a few coaches. Mike experience will help the staff.
  13. The vote is suppose to take place at the end of September.
  14. Word on the street is UIndy is preparing to vote Sept. 30 to transition from DIi to DI. Would be nice to see another DI in Indiana, although we have a few already that could add their team back. And if anyone missed it Southern Indiana voted to moved to DI back in February. Maybe you Evansville people could get them interred in adding a sport there while we are at it.
  15. Agreed they are definitely an uphill battle for anyone.
  16. Returning back to wrestling at home from Wyoming Seminary then?
  17. Im sure they are still speculating on where some will end up weight wise but for now: 126 - #17 L. Frazier 182 - #12 D. Veazy 220 - #1 C. Carroll (and #1 P4P) Not a big list for Indiana, but with the more relaxed travel rules we do have more opportunity for a few guys to move into and up in the rankings in season. That’s something that very rarely happened before.
  18. And hopefully winning at Who’s #1 against another IL stud in a few weeks.
  19. Don’t see Tsirtsis currently listed on the IU staff. Has he moved on to another DI assistant roll? Maybe moved back home to help run RWA? Just IU not getting something updated correctly. Also does IU have a clear 133 for next year? I noticed a few 125 and 133 still listed in the transfer portal with starting experience that could fit the spot. With Moran likely a lifetime 125 it would be nice to lock down someone at 133 for a couple years. Angel could hopefully sell someone on the idea of learning from his (a former lightweight champ) and getting some time in with Red at the RTC (multi-time AA).
  20. Greco Juniors (Final Update) May gets 6th Khwaja places 3rd Bickel finished in 7th Junior Greco Team will finish 22nd
  21. Junior Greco (Last Day of Fargo) May going for 5th Bickel going for 7th Khwaja going for 3rd Junior Greco Team will likely finish in the upper 20s.
