I cancelled my subscription about two years ago....a waste of my money. It might as well be an extension of the Purdue Exponent! I think they use the Exponent's articles! LOL

I was watching the HWT match on TV last night with NW and Mich. It's amazing how much out of bounds wrestling they do compared to high school matches. At one point both men were out of bounds, but no call was made until it was obvious they were not returning. High school calls are somewhat judgemental. Some are very conservative, while others are a little more lenient. But the rules are definitely more conservative than collegiate. If we go in the direction of collegiate rules, we will need bigger mats! LOL

As a friend of the family and one of the coaching staff for Vlahos, it is still obvious to me that in the big picture the only thing to say is....Congratulations to Sean McMurray!!! Let's not lessen his incredible accomplishment of 3 state titles. He looked smooth and in complete control of this tournament. The other boys in his weight class have a lot of things to deal with, but that's usually the case for everyone other than the 14 champions.

Unfortunate for both boys....both deserve better. The move was NOT called illegal...it was the referee's JUDGEMENT that Vlahos did not discontinue the move soon enough after the whistle...he was penalized for being an aggressive wrestler....it happens, both kids payed for it. As far as the decision to lay down and take the win....there's a lot more to it, but at this point that doesn't matter. We all know Tyler's wanted to wrestle. That's all we really need to know. 160 lived up to the hype, in my opinion...win or lose, that was some exciting wrestling!!!! And no worries about the missed opportunity for another McMurray vs Vlahos matchup...both will be Big Ten wrestlers for the next few years! And you never know....Willis might be right in there with them in the future!!!

Coach Joll has done a good thing by not complaining about the rule or the suspension, but instead coming up with a solution to the problem that he is willing to share with everyone. Great job being proactive and positive Chris!!!

We are still unsure of Daniel's spring wrestling future. I know he'd love to get a chance to prove himself against the state's best, but his health is more important.

Quiroz is definitely tough, and a scrapper...but I don't see him getting by both Willis and Vlahos...Vlahos owned him on their feet. But at state...it's the day!

I saw the Atwood/Johnson-Jones match at North Montgomery....Atwood will pin through the tournament!

Sean, I'm hoping to see you and Vlahos in the finals..not just because I'm one of his coaches, but because you two are very similar in style and make for a great matchup! Good luck!

215 Gallegos SB Clay (4 seed to State) over Sumner McCutcheon 1st Round Sumner did not wrestle....Vice was bumped to his spot...Gallegos beat Vice.

Well, I believe there is never an "after wrestling", but of those I wrestled with in college I believe there are several high school coaches, a few of us firefighters, some in law enforcement, attorneys, physicians, dentists, business owners, an occasional wrestling referree, college professors, and the list goes on....One thing that never changes is the love of wrestling!!!
