  1. I think coughlin and Escobedo were their senior year
  2. Why does that suck? That means two of our teams are good enough to be in the champions pool
  3. Off subject a little- there were recently meetings about realigning the sectionals again. Has there been anything come from that or will there be no change?
  4. I was just meaning it's a travesty none of those other teams got in. Geography wise, only 4 of the 36 are in the southwest, and that's if you count Edgewood as southwest
  5. There could be a considerable amount of factors as to why states don't come. Maybe it's due to some missing 2-3 days of school, travel costs, many involved in spring sports, prom season, or that there are so many national tourneys these days that this event has lost its prestige. Perhaps location can play into it as well. I don't have the answers, just giving some possible reasons why the drop in states have occurred
  6. that's the problem with discussion boards I suppose, people want to talk about stuff, they talk about it Just kidding, I do agree there are a bunch
  7. Agreed, that's pretty weak. I wasn't saying we should stay single class, I was trying that maybe just for a year it wasn't a bad thing. I know classing wrestling could/will grow the sport, and as someone who wants to promote it and build it in my school and area, I know it would be very beneficial. I want the best for my team, but I guess selfishly in my mind I would want to be "the" state champ at my weight, not "one of multiple" state champs at my weight. I don't have an argument either way. Part of me loves single class, part of me would be interested in being in a classed system. Just a question though, if we were a multi classed state, which kids would have got the invites to the Pittsburg classic? The big school seniors, or the small school seniors? If the big school champ was a junior and his runner up was a senior, but the small school champ was a senior and had lost to the big school runnerup several times that year, how would that be handled? I'm not being critical, I'm honestly curious
  8. If state was classed this year, we wouldn't have had Lee vs Red. Would there have been 12,000 people there? Would the atmosphere and excitement from the crowd have been there? Single class, maybe if just for a year, was great for indiana wrestling as far as bringing fans to the finals. As far as growing it for the little guys, like my team, we keep the same attitude. We don't want to fight for a spot as the best little school wrestlers, we want to fight for a spot as the best wrestlers in the entire state.
  9. I was told Arney for manchester is injured and Richard Osha, who wrestled for me as a washington hatchet, will be at 157
  10. '04 maurer vs '16 Hughes '05 Humphrey vs '98 Stephen Bradley '02 Moore vs '07 Hinton '89 Ellis vs '98 schaefer (similar to Lee vs red)
  11. It is also a shame that two representatives from east chicago woukdnt have enough points to qualify if they were in any of the other 3 semistates.
  12. Jeremiah Harvey of culver back in 2011 I think finished 3rd or 4th in his sectional then went on to win the state title
  13. I would say the 2004 and 2005 classes were pretty good ones. Maybe not as deep 04 had 2 four time champs, and 2 time champ 05 had a 4 time champ, a three time champ, and a couple two timers
  14. He would have to be in an elite group even if he loses. Who else could say that their only two loses would be to wrestlers who were #1 nationally ranked seniors?
  15. Ian Speerman was a semiState champ in 99, I think finished 3rd or 4th at state
  16. That alternate is deserving I feel. He did have to win his first round match to be in that position. So he has 14 osses...big deal. Didn't John Gillespie win a state title years ago with that many losses? It's not the losses that matter.
  17. I believe Mishawaka placed 9 wrestlers the last year they won team state
  18. Mater dei qualified 11 in 2006-07 season
  19. I believe at evansville they run all 4 mats for the semis. Ex, Mats 1 and 2 would be 106, 3 and 4 would be 113, and so on. Or at least the last two years they've done that
  20. Wood memorial advanced 2, first semistate qualifiers for the school in 6 years
