  1. 2018 regional at North my wrestler was wrestling a kid from MD that was on his way to tech falling us. I’m the process he illegally slammed my kid and automatically I knew we would continue the match, or at least restart, then default and give them the victory. But for a moment, we sure had the MD coaching staff sweating. Which I reassured them there is no way i would default a match purposely default a match just to get a win. Their kid went on to win regional, then qualify for state.
  2. So if Boonville gets voted in for 2A, that will make 4 teams from the newly expanded Pocket athletic Conference (PAC) participating at team state next season. That would bring the number of previous PAC teams participating at team state to 8 heritage hills gibson southern tecumseh southridge north posey tell city Mt Vernon (new PAC team) possibly Boonville (new PAC team) i know this this is silly question, but does that make the PAC the best wrestling conference in Indiana? im kidding, but that is a pretty interesting statistic. What are the most teams from other conferences to have qualified?
  3. You are correct, I apologize. Funny, I was at that event in 04 watching and still forgot who beat MD that year
  4. That’s a crazy statement to say considering the two years following the 03 Mater Dei team, Lawrence North did win team state, beat MD in the process both years
  5. Crazy to think that if it wasn’t for Griffith, they may have had 7 champions, or at least 7 finalists
  6. Deffendol is out and Omar Mora from Washington moves in to the bracket as the 4th seed against Morrill from Columbus East. Farmer (ev memorial) took the place of Purdy and Purdy moves to Deffendol’s place
  7. It is possible to get close to that with the right scheduling. Tourneys that I know that have 8-10 matches are War on the Wabash PAC Conference Duals Evansville Harrison 10 Way Madison Cub Classic Scottsburg Warrior Classic
  8. Probably missed him as a sleeper because he would possibly have to meet a returning state placer in the ticket round.
  9. Well I think one of them just made that comment McCain went on to be a 2x JUCO all American (3rd, 2nd) at Iowa Central, transferred and wrestled a season at IU, and currently is the head coach at Pike Central. Not sure on the other two
  10. I believe top 3 at heavyweight in 96-97 at Evansville (then it was Seymour) SemiState were top 3 at State. Willis of Southport, Bentz of Madison, and Massey of Martinsville. McCain of Pike Central, the 4th place in that semistate, lost in overtime on Friday night the the eventual 4th place at state, so that was a close challenge to that 171 bracket that same year
  11. I’m pretty sure Mater Dei had 11 qualify in 1996. That was the year they had 10 wrestlers in the semistate finals
  12. No, I’m referring back to a post to where someone said a person who wrestles a lesser schedule with a 34-1 record- they were saying if it wasn’t a strong schedule then the 34-1 record is only worth the paper it was written on. my point was I had kids that had losing records wrestling a tougher schedule than some kids that had winning record in a not so tough schedule. And when they would wrestle said wrestlers with the much better records. The person who I was referring to said strength of schedule matter now, not what your record is. I was simply saying that’s not always the case.
  13. Strength of schedule has some factor, but not the main factor. My next to last year I coached at Washington, we wrestled a schedule that included cathedral, warren central, Avon, center Grove, Columbus east, reitz, jasper, heritage hills, and Gibson southern, and mt Vernon. all those teams that year were either state ranked or participated in team state. I had 5 wrestlers in my lineup that had losing records heading into sectional. None of those kids advanced to regional, losing to kids from teams that most definitely didn’t have a better schedule than us. Sometimes a kid from a “lesser” team that’s 30-1 will just beat a kid that 20–15 that wrestled the tougher schedule. It happens.
  14. Within the last 6 years, 4 of the current teams in the castle sectional have been in team state, also 4 teams from the central sectional in that same timeframe . So I’d say there is a good balance. No need for realignment, it’s just a down year. Just because Castle isn’t the 2nd best team in southwestern indiana this year and Boonville, Memorial, and Heritage Hills are having slightly down years compared to recent years doesn’t mean we need to jump the gun and realign. The Castle Sectional has a shot of 8 state qualifiers (give or take a few). That’d be a nice down year to have.
  15. They would actually have their hands raised the first time in the consolation semifinals (against a forfeit ) but honestly, that would be pretty crazy to have one or two wins and make it to semistate
  16. I don’t believe any wrestler that is in our state truly has a choice whether they can seek out top level national competition or only wrestle in their back yard.....in season. Understandably you can seek out whoever you want to wrestle in the offseason, but in season they are at the mercy of their coaches and AD’s. And if someone beats everyone that’s put in front of them, whether it’s back yard or not, thats great, and only a handful of people in the state do it every year. As as far as the post on Jordy Fulks, Boonville has wrestled local teams (pretty much every southwestern indiana team in PAC, Big 8, and SIAC, I believe except Gibson southern, forest park, and Mater Dei), and also wrestled Union County, KY.
  17. That one kid from Crown Point has a loss
  18. https://www.trackwrestling.com/predefinedtournaments/MainFrame.jsp?newSession=false&TIM=1579711907157&pageName=
  19. In 2006 Forest park had a Hopf boy that i believe was 6’9” that wrestled 189. Finished out his career as a heavyweight
  20. Some coaches are their school’s athletic directors. That’s a possibility for things being changed sometimes
  21. With Fitts dq’d at the Classic, would he be able to wrestle at team state?
  22. I know milanes from jasper was in their lineup this week at 106 all the Gibson southern wrestlers you mentioned are in their lineup
  23. I believe jasper now goes the Spartan Classic as well
  24. When did Edgewood start going to new castle? It shows Koontz ranked at 138
