  1. I just heard that Mount Vernon in Fortville is needing a wrestling coach..... I just heard that today and am not sure if it is true or not....Just letting you all know. It is getting too close to the season for these kids not to have a good coach and role model there with them..... Like I said, I am not sure if it is true but I was asked if I would like to coach there....
  2. I have no desire in demanding that my Grandson's wrestle....I have been taking them to matches with me and they both seem to love to watch it... Every since Collyn could understand me, I have been talking about wrestling with him and he seems to love it....I am just praying that he falls in love with it and then his little brother will follow....I would never tell them that if they don't wrestle, Papaw wont like them....I just am trying my best to influence them... I know in my heart, that it would be the best for them boys.........OLD PAPAW TRICK...... Heck, I am 50 this year and I have a few more years of this great sport in me......If I have to lie to them, so be it......
  3. I would have put Danville in here this year but the state moved Perry Meridian out here for some reason....Perry is just too strong, in my opinion, for anybody in this region to topple them.....Not taking anything away from anyone out here in Team, but they are strong top to bottom.....Every Year....
  4. Mater Dei will have a good number there this year as well, lead by John Sims and Josh Boots...
  5. You know the Welch boys will be there.....
  6. I would have to start in the 70's with Kenny Delong, Gene Loomis, Stuart O'Dell, Mike Murphy, Greg Grahm, Paul Byrnes, Ronnie Bean, Paul and Nick Rasic, Eric Kriebel (Pendleton Heights coach), Mike Breeden, Todd Hacker, David Delong (coaching in I think Centerville), Mike Hawkins, Greg Davidson, Kevin Simmons, Brad Bailey, Buddy Wiser, Jeff Sims, Alexander Warren, Eric Lybarger and his whole family, Little Todd Hacker (actually real big Todd), Evan Wooding and the Caruso boys', and a little kid named RED....Red Williams....And one Great Coach Tony Qulitzza.....I am sure that I don't have his last name right but he use to beat the crap out of me and I still love him...
  7. I think that Danville will have 4 maybe 5 this year. Very good chance at it..
  8. Roncalli could have as many as 7 or 8 make it this year. They are going to have a great team this year also.
  9. Cathedral could have at least 5 this year.
  10. Just from me speaking here in Hendricks County for myself and I am sure a few others, I am a big fan of those Pendleton wrestlers....Our hearts go out to your family and friends.....God is with you as I am sure that Zach is with God........We all love you here......
  11. Man, them Lafever boys are some tough boys from that northeast area.....
  12. I need some help here......I have a grandson that is getting ready to turn 4 and have been preaching wrestling to him since he began walking and talking......I have had him in some wrestling rooms since he could walk and couldn't keep him off of the mat...... My question is: What and how do I keep him and his 2 year old brother interested in it? It has been a long time since I have had a kid and nephews involved in wrestling but none of them started until JR. High...... What can you do to get them and keep them interested in wrestling at such an early age? Please, parent's, help me out here. I am trying to lay a path for my grandson's to a better future....How hard should I be on them? Should I just make it a fun time? I haven't had a wrestler this young....If you ask Collyn he will tell you that he is going to be a wrestler but that is me talking through him and praying that he takes to it....No matter what they do, Papaw will be proud.... All of the advise that you parents and coach's can give me will be great.... If you ask Collyn at four years old he will tell you that he is going to be a State Champ......Now I need to know how to get him there..... Thank you all. RD
  13. Tyler Willis at Cathedral is doing very well on defense. Two tough games and a few more to come though. I listened to the Cathedral/Carmel game on the radio and heard his name several times in the broadcast. Not real sure but had somewhere between 10 and 14 tackles. I hear Trey Reese at Indian Creek is doing well again also.
  14. Just an old country boy's thought about this.......... First of all, I see these huge new schools being built around Indy and wonder where all the money is coming from....Heck, the weight room at Plainfield is as big or bigger than our high school gym....By the way, I went to Mooresville in the 70's, very impressive but kind of wondering why? TV's in a high school weight room? I am not putting down Plainfield at all but was in awe when I walked in there last year for a dual meet for the first time....The pit that they had was perfect for a meet.... Who is paying for this? We are of course and I don't mind because I love high school sports and it has a place for all of us. I just wonder who thinks this crap up that we neeeeeeeed this type of new high school to keeeeeeep up with the other schools.....I just think that they should ask the people first to find out if they really need to spend this kind of money...Now Franklin Central kids parents need to pay for the kids to play sports??????? What a screwed up system.....Now you are asking for volunteer coachs????? Me personally, I would rather that my children and grandchildren be taught and coached by a well paid teacher/coach that doesn't have to worry about how they are going to have to provide a good upbringing for their family/children or mine....My parents knew that I was in good hands when I was in school....God knows that I was in good hands.....and I think that he had a hand in those paddles.... I turn 50 next month and read this thread and it is sad. You teachers and coaches are fighting with your hands tied behind your back....and it seems that it has all turned to politics.....We have our Unions, our rights and the good ole ACLU and whatever.....the bottom line is (in my opinion) that we are forgetting about the children......The kids.....I wouldn't expect any of you coaches to work for free...You shouldn't have to and anyone that expects you to work for free is very shallow..... Somebody made this thread political and I am just saying that we as a nation and people have let our government take God, Country and Morals out of our schools and now we are having this conversation.... Bring them back and maybe our school system can come back around...... Let the teachers teach without fear and the coaches coach...... Bring the morals and standards back to the schools, bring back religion and repercussions for your actions to the schools and let the teachers and coaches teach and coach without worrying about being sued.... Just venting.....Love you coaches and teachers (don't know how you do it these days), hate your unions and ACLU..... I know that you could do it without them.......
  15. Congrats Cole. I know that you will do very well at the next level. You did a great job at Avon and should be very proud of that. We are very proud of you and you represented your school with pride, honor and dignity. I know that I hate to see you go on but I wish you all the best at the next level. With your attitude and humbleness. you will make Southern Illinois a GREAT addition to the line up. Keep up the great work and remember that the education is worth way more.......Make the grades........ Corbin's Uncle Ronnie
  16. God bless you Brandon and your family...Thank you for serving your country with Honor and Glory.....You will not be forgotten..........
  17. Dave Delong from Richmond retired... Is this David Delong from the Mooresville wrestling days in the late 70's?????
  18. Great job Cole Brandt.......Made Avon Proud.....
  19. I heard that Mason Todd had a bad one at folkstyle state this year. I know that he is proud of it....Not too sure about his Mom though...LOL
  20. I did not know Greg and I wish that I did. I will pray for Greg and his loved ones. I pray that you all will pull through this and carry on. Greg did his thing for a reason only a few of us will ever know why. I am sure that he fought for God, Family and Country....What a Noble thing to do....I know that he was Brave and HE IS ONE OF OUR COUNTRY'S HEROS... GOD WILL BLESS HIM AND GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY....... CARRY ON SOLDIER.
