  1. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2012/aug/21/mauer-hed1-10-inches-p-herey/ Great pick up for Gibson Southern. Best news since Toyota moved to the area!
  2. Lane finished runner up to Maurer (MD) at 195 in the Sectionals and 3rd behind Maurer and Halbig (Princeton) in the Regionals. Both Maurer and Halbig went to State. I can't remember the details but I think Lane lost a tough match in the go round at Semi-state? He seems like a hard working kid with a good attitude - very strong.
  3. Duvante (sp?) Lane from North should be a force.
  4. Not sure if he would be interested but Franzy Fleck is the Superintendent of Gibson County schools. He's a former wrestling coach at North Posey and coached a state champion in Chase Akers.
  5. Giving families an opportunity to schedule vacations in advance is critical. For families with multiple athletes in various sports it makes an otherwise impossible task - very easy.
  6. Derek Dowdy Reitz 141 (Rend lake College)
  7. I thought I remember hearing that Coach Ferguson (Reitz) gave Ellis a tough match while wrestling for Castle.
  8. I don't know any of these wrestlers or coaches personally....................but I was shocked to see Brooks come out on the mat so early after the conclusion of the 106 match. This did seem to be disrespectful to me even if it was unintentional.
  9. I agree. It shouldn't be that big of a deal with the ticket scanners.
  10. Very dissapointed in the showing of the Evansville Semistate
  11. I still think it was a bad call but the the "Karma" thing with the HH slam does make it interesting in the grand scheme of things! I'm just trying to get the 400 total posts tonight so don't slam me on this comment!
  12. I looked away and missed the move. Thanks for sharing the details and cudos to the HH team for doing the right thing!
  13. Bluebolt comes through again - totally agree!
  14. I agree that it was a bad call to remove the points. It sounded like the majority of the fans thought it was a bad call also!
  15. Nicely done! My favorite section is the Academic all state - great recognition for these young men! Very proud of Reitz with 10 representatives!
  16. Great year - and I believe he took a Limo from Mt. Vernon to Indy........good stuff
  17. I totally agree that back points should've been awarded.
  18. Kelley's wrestling style makes him dangerous to any opponent and to himself! His matches are never boring.
  19. what time does the tilted kilt open? See you there mtvernonwrestlingdad!
  20. The alternates are the wrestlers who lost to the semi-state champion in the go round - correct? I'm sure this doesn't happen too often - when was the last time an alternate went to State? I don't wish injury to anyone but I would like to see a certain alternate from the Evansville Semi-State make it to Indy.....................maybe due to a curfew violation / strict parent, etc.!!
  21. I love the new Ford Center. Beautiful complex with comfortable seating and great views of the entire floor. The food was good and decent sized portions. The prices were a little steep but as expected. I would rather be cold than hot............you can always add clothing but you can only take so much off............sorry for the mental picture The parking isn't too bad for a Downtown arena. I do appreciate that they sold tickets inside instead of using the booths outside. It sounds like Markio has a great plan for next year. Thanks!
  22. Random thoughts: I believe Suter beat Honaker (Washington 37-7 Junior) 1-0 in the go round. I liked the Hat worn by the Washington coach............. I'm still sick over the Rueger loss but hats off to the Farmer who finished off an impressive day with the SS title. Amazing career for Rueger. Very impressed with LaHue. Bloomington South had a great day. Neal Malloy is the real deal but Moody did okay against him in the Semi's. Malloy had 3 Tech Falls including the finals and a 2-0 victory over Moody. Great year for Aaron King - tough draw today. 170 was all over the place with Warren losing in round 1 but Mappes was the clear standout in this class. MD: 9 advance, big win for Schroeder in the go round, Lannert gets revenge, Brandenstein & Maurer stay undefeated, Wright doesn't look intimidating but he just wins! Reitz: 5 advance - (4) 3rds and (1) 2nd. I expected 7 to advance with 3 champs so I'm not in the best mood! The Mater Dei girl who sang the National Anthem was amazing! My feet are still cold!
  23. I don't really have a comment.........I'm just checking out American Airline's new option on inflight WiFi - I like it!!! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing wrestling mats on the floor of the new Ford Center. I've been to a UE BB game, IceMen, and Kenny Chesney................but I prefer wrestling.
