  1. Jeremy Hunter. Well established wrestler and assistant coach with a ton of Big Ten and NCAA Championship experience. Probably won't ever get the nod at Illinois because Mark Perry is there. Just saying, he could probably do big things given the opportunity. Wouldn't take much to move a whole 2 hours east.
  2. Hopefully that's what happened, because that would make a lot more sense. Commentator said Quiroga chose bottom, that must be where the confusion is.
  3. What was the thought process putting him down in the second after getting balled on?
  4. Lofthouse and Moore go down first rd. Not huge upsets when considering records, but when looking at seeds and the fact that they're from Iowa it's pretty significant.
  5. It is easy to jump on the Walsh bandwagon because he has more pins this season than his first two years combined. I guarantee he has something to do with that; you'd have to be a dunce not to see the correlation. Did you ever watch Simmons wrestle? They look pretty similar from top. Also, who on IU's starting roster through the first four weights would he have had the opportunity to develop to be successful at the Big10 level? Roach and Duca maybe, but both of them were there well before him. Raley would have done big things had he made the grades(so the rumor goes, don't know how accurate that is). Give him time to develop his own recruits. Even Donny Pritzlaff had to have a couple years to develop his own recruits and really solidify the middle weights at Wisconsin, but he also had the luxury of coaching under a tremendous head coach.
  6. I know it is only one blue chip kid but IU nabbed Jacob Danishek, 4x OH State Champ, also won the Walsh Ironman and the Super 32, currently ranked #2 in the nation at 152 they also landed Cole Weaver who is a 3x'er in Michigan.
  7. He was still in the room working with the wrestlers, while also coordinating events and home duals. Now we're just splitting hairs, though. My point was that he played a role in development and seems to win at whatever he does. Every guy needs time to translate that. Just out of curiosity, and this could be an entirely new thread, who are some guys that would be a good fit at IU or Purdue?
  8. Not until the recruiting classes he plays a big part in start to matriculate. That is all I'm saying is give him some time once Goldman is out of the way. I agree that something needs to change, I just think he is the biggest positive they have and hopefully he can steer them in the right direction.
  9. I'm not saying he is the sole reason for it, but it's no coincidence it happened while he was there. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/238998-Oregon-State-Wrestling-Summer-2011/video/500758-Northwest-Regional-Training-Center#.Ux35fvldUdo At around 2:10 he's talking about Hanke and Simmons.
  10. The guy is a proven winner, period. Give him a little more than two years as an assistant to translate that to the program. As director of wrestling operations at Oregon State he was instrumental in some of their greatest success in program history including, two Pac-12 titles(one was a now defunct Pac-10 championship) and a top 10 finish at the NCAA's, all of which was just in the 3 years he was there. You will never be able to convince me that Taylor Walsh would have led the nation in falls if it weren't for Simmons tutelage. As for recruiting, I doubt Jacob Danishek(4x OH State Champ) and Cole Weaver(3x MI State Champ) are going there for Goldman.
  11. I wouldn't clean house necessarily as I would promote Simmons. The guy has a proven track record. He's significantly improved the technique as a whole, especially on top. He has also drastically improved the recruiting classes which seems to always fall on the assistants for some reason(Mena, Dubuque). Goldman will probably leave when his son graduates anyway so "on the fence" IU fans are just biding their time.
  12. He commited back in July via Intermat. It was specified on their commitment list that it was Baseball.
  13. Leen is a Baylor product. Good year for Tennessee at the NCAA's with Leen winning and Nick Marable taking 3rd.
  14. GJL qualified last year bub...
  15. Punches thrown, trashing the barricades on his way out and then an immediate police response to the tunnel. It was sad to see because it took the attention away from Kendall's win, but that kid was dominant all day.
  16. At Evansville a few years ago: Cody Kendall over returning runner-up Dusty Kief. Also at Evansville, a first round upset, Carter Lewis of Greencastle over 3rd ranked and previous SQ Warren(can't remember first name) of Castle.
  17. You should also take into account the accomplishments he already has as a Freshman. Fila Cadet National Runner-Up, USAW Cadet All-American(3rd), Fila Pan Am Champion and a Cadet World Team Member. When looking at all of that, there is really no argument about anyone else coming close to him during their Freshman year.
  18. That was his Junior year, both losses to Jeff Weiss, but nonetheless lost sectionals and regionals and beat returning State Champ Michael Duckworth in the finals.
  19. Nice win for Tsirtsis. It might be common knowledge now, but Busler beat Kendric Maple in OT last weekend.
  20. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet but here's the article from Intermat. http://intermatwrestle.com/articles/11565
  21. Is it possible these wrestlers will be stripped of the title of Olympic Medalist? I remember in the 2008 Beijing Olympics Ara Abrahamian returned his medal in protest and was stripped of his title, which he was later quoted as not caring about, and was kicked out of the games altogether. I understand this is an entirely different scenario, but still risky nonetheless.
  22. Your memory is better than mine, thanks for the clarification. I just remember Hemry putting on a clinic and Warren had nothing for him.
