Gridiron Digest forums took a hit when someone created a Facebook group called something like Indiana High School Football fans.
I'm grateful for Indianamat. It's got to be a top 3 high school forums/website in the nation.

First off, 120 this kid has 70 matches in one season!!! Amari Hardin (John Hardin) 68-2, Sr., got 3rd at 120. Check out their 215 champ- Austin Silva (John Hardin) 68-0, Sr.
I always like to compare the out of state wrestlers and how they did in the state tournament compared to what our wrestlers did. It will be more difficult because of BB and CP wrestling so many out of state teams. Here are the Kentucky results.
120 Jayden Raney (Union County) 12-0, Fr. Got 1st. He beat Schaefer 8-5
126 Jordyn Raney (Union County) 11-0, Fr. Got 1st. He beat Seng by Fall!
145 Bryant Beane (Trinity (Louisville)) 25-4, Sr. got 2nd. He beat Keegan Williams 3-0
145 Glenn Mayes (Union County) 9-5, Sr. got 6th. He beat Brayden Lain 4-2 OT
152 Max Speaker (St. Xavier) 44-10, Jr. got 6th. He bot TF by B. Lowery and pinned by DuPont.
160 Lucas Ricketts (Union County) 10-3, got 4th. He got beat by Huckaby 4-3 OT
160 Justin Krebs (St. Xavier) 47-9, Sr. got 5th. He beat Landon Terry 8-0
170 George Ferree (Trinity (Louisville)) 50-4, got 1st. Sr.. He beat Spencer Turner 5-0
182 Gavin Ricketts (Union County) 11-1, Sr. got 2nd He beat Bray Emerine 4-1.

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Tara K. Jenkins, Principal, Sullivan High School, 902 N. Section Street, Sullivan, IN 47882, in writing, no later than 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023. e-mail at tjenkins@swest.k12.in.us.
Sullivan has several youth wrestlers coming up that put in the work needed to be successful in high school. We have a great feeder club and middle school team. Last year the middle school team went undefeated. Sullivan is 25 miles south of Terre Haute and 40 miles North of Vincennes. Affordable housing! One of the assistant coaches is a realtor so he can get you in touch with housing. Rural farming community. GREAT SCHOOLS. Small town who loves sports.

I am 100% okay with youth redshirting if they do it in K-5. The older the kid gets, the worse it looks. If the kid is in 8th grade, and takes a redshirt before starting 9th grade, the kid should have an asterisk next to their name for their accomplishments.
I'm bias. Semi state, I was 17 and got beat by a 19 year old 5-1. He went to state and I went home. I wish my parents would have started me later.
-
My MVP goes to the most dominant wrestler. Here are my picks.
1. Goin 3 pins and a major
1. Cruz 3 pins and a win against Veazy
3. Purdy- He won arguably the deepest weight class.
4. Hockaday- Major, Pin, and beat a two time champ
5. LaRocca- 1 pin, 2 tech falls
6. Dickman- two pins and a major
7/8. Lowery and Torres for undefeated runs.

I asked this question last week
mauer Ohio state
coughlin indiana
did anyone else from the Mater Dei teams wrestle in college
CP is running out teams with
mendez Ohio state
tattini Duke
Frazier VA tech
Bahl IU
Goin IU
Cruz Purdue
that’s at least 6 division 1 wrestlers in their line up
Rinehart I can see going D1, the Clark’s probably D1 football kids
line up the duals and see?
We can all be nostalgic but this is the best indiana has ever been and that’s coming from all of the National guys.
More guys will be recruited in indiana right now because of how good CP, Brownsburg and Center grove are
Good perspective.. I'd like to know the most D1 kids from one team. Not even D1 but the team with the most kids who wrestled in college.

Define home raised talent?
besides Rinehart who was not trained by Hawkins and Sessa?
Rinehart lol. But I was just posting to ruffle some feathers and get some comments going!!
-
What's scary about this Crown Point team was that they weren't at full strength come tournament time.
132- Hawkins would have placed.
152- Rhinehart would have placed.
The difference in the old Mater Dei teams that I would consider is how Mater Dei, contrary to everyones belief, had Mater Dei kids on the team. CP has kids from other schools. I won't say the dreaded R word because now it's open enrollment and kids can go wherever they choose.
If you are talking about a pure home based Indiana team, it's 2003 Mater Dei. If you are talking about the best team in Indiana history, it's 2022 or 2023 Crown Point.

I think he was under 220
but there is another set of Clark’s in 8th grade and one is currently 220 so there will be a Clark vs clark wrestle off
Wow. So two sets of twins? That's awesome!

Who knows?
They've beaten each other. You don't have all the recent results. That being said I made this post to give Gunner his flowers. However: In freestyle or greco you are not up on things if you think anyone is beating Veazy at either. I'll remind you he beat Cruz last May in freestyle. He nearly made the finals in both styles last year at Fargo. Folkstyle i won't argue I'll let the wrestling speak for itself.
Yeah I was just reading up on Veazy's success.. kid is a beast!!! He was always beating Gunner until recently.

And the new weight classes
175-190-215-285
AHHHH I got to get used to them.
175- Veazy
190- Henry- I think??
215- Clark
285- Clark
What are the chances 220 Clark gains weight and has to wrestle off his brother for a varsity spot!?!?
-
Where is Crown Point?
-
I am now a fan of Gunner after seeing him go to Indy Nationals the day after state and winning it.
They have wrestled twice recently. Gunner won both. Freestyle is completely different but it won't be a blowout. Veazy and Gunner will hopefully be in different weight classes next year so they both get a title instead of one.
195 - GUNNER HENRY (RED COBRA WRESTLING ACADEMY) over DE`ALCAPON VEAZY (WARRIOR RTC) Dec 14-5
3rd Place Match - Gunner Henry (Brownsburg) 35-3 won by decision over De`Alcapon Veazy (Fort Wayne Snider) 35-6 (Dec 3-2)
Just imagine next year's 182-285
182- Veazy (Penola)
195- Henry (Mcconnell)
220- Clark (Kindred, Beck, Hinton, Johnson)
285- Clark

Jesse Mendez 126 his freshman year. He had Hunter Watts (6-2-1-3) and Brayden Curtis (7-1-1-4) at his weight. (Others included Logan Wagner, J Conway, Kane Egli, Lucas Walendzak, Brock Peele, Ian Heath, Chase Wilkerson , Jared Brown and Ray Rioux 6-3-2-2). Jesse previously beat Watts at the Al Smith Finals 5-2.
Jesse won by fall the first two matches. Beat defending champ Watts 13-4 and beat Rioux 6-0. Curtis got upset by Rioux in the other semi final.
Thrine has to be in the top 3. He took out the defending champion Frazier (3-2-1-3). Could have easily been a two timer if Illinois didn't go crazy with Covid.
Nick Lee's only loss was to some guy named Stevan Micic 10-3. Nick beat the returning runner up and that years runner up Zach Davis (Q-6-2-2) 13-4 at team state. Davis only lost to Micic in the finals 9-7 and 10-5.

Huddleston was 75 at Mss this month. I don’t think you will see him in high school next year.
I thought he was cutting for middle school state. Surprised he didn't bulk for 106.

Logically... it should go to whoever was a 4 time runner up. If no one, then a three time runner up. So...
Delaney Ruhlman and Tristan Tonte are both three time runner ups. They are the only wrestlers to my knowledge who have made the finals three times without winning.

How is center grove a dynasty with 0 team titles? No disrespect to them, they compete hard as hell, but cmon. And Indiana hasn’t had more dominant schools? Mater Dei, Perry, Penn, warren, cathedral might beg to differ lol
They have never been a great program like they are now. Last year was their break out year. But look what they did this year with having so many wrestlers break through the Evansville semi state and even the state finals. Look at how many made the finals. My point is they are doing something amazing in their program and I want to know what the secret is. You don't have to call it a dynasty but you can't deny their success.

Indiana University would be an ideal location.. seats more than the Ford Center and closer for the North teams.

(‘22 listed first, ‘23 second)
106-(43-2) Hockaday vs (41-5) Dickman-low scoring affair, but the match goes to TB Dickman (0-3)
113- (50-0)Jackson vs (42-2) LaRocca- LaRocca super long and super technical, and his length gives Jackson problems. LaRocca stays on a roll wins 3-1. (0-6)
120- (35-1) Leavell vs (33-4) Hockaday- good scrambles, but technique beats funk in a fun one, so Hockaday rolls 8-3 (0-9)
126- (34-1) Frazier vs (42-0) Thrine (rematch)- Thrine gets it done (again), and a well seasoned interviewer dazzles on the mic and a star is born 4-1 (0-12)
132-(43-1 undefeated in state) Seltzer vs (45-0) Buttler- Zeke’s best in state challenge all year and wins 6-2, but the closest 6-2 you’ve ever seen. (3-12)
138- (41-0) Mendez vs (48-1) Solomey- Solomey is the only person at state to avoid being either pinned or teched by Jesse but loses 15-4 in a major (7-12)145- (43-1) Watson vs (52-0)Torres
Barn burner 5-4 Torres (7-15)
152- (40-0) Goin vs (44-0) Lowery- holy h*ll!! UTB goes to the Sr. Lowery with controversial calls all around and a match that will be debated on indianamat for years! (7-18)
160- (37-0) Conway vs (39-2 undefeated in state) Goin- Conway is a gamer/gamer, but runs into a buzzsaw Goin. No need for OT, but a low scoring affair 3-1 Goin! (7-21)
170- (35-0) Baumann vs (25-4 undefeated in state) Goodwin- Brody was on a mission, but realizes how battle tested/good Goodwin is and secures an early takedown and plays it safe 3-1. (10-21)182- (43-1) Buchanan vs (35-2 undefeated in state) Cruz - Cruz wins 5-2 and touts the new travel rules and competition as the reason he was able to pull it off. (10-24)
195- (38-2) Sollars vs (44-1) Purdy- Purdy stole 1 or 2 from an injured Sollars last year, but Sollars got healthy and pinned his way through state and catches Purdy in a scramble to win 5-1. (13-24)220- (22-0) Carroll vs (38-3) Clark- Carroll didn’t steamroll the state competition in ‘22 and it would be the same against Clark, but he wins 6-2. (16-24)
285- (45-1) Fishback vs (37-5) Jones- Don’t let the records fool you, Brownsburg had a much tougher schedule that includes out of state. Jones 7-2 (16-27)
Winner ‘23 27-16
Agree except for the following
113- too close too call for me but I lean Jackson.
160- Conway wins in overtime
170- Baumann wins by 5
