  1. Naturally confidence has a lot to do with your performance in any sport, actually in life in general so there is no debating Red would look better when he believes he will win. I don't agree with your analysis that "Red has to also be thinking he has improved more than Lee since then because he has had more College Practices and matches" -- Lee has been in the Penn State room drilling with extremely talented wrestlers. Advantage Lee. Their high school match was as even as you could get. Red won, but many had Lee winning the match after watching the replay and the back points awarded. I have watched Red 4x this year and he is not the same wrestler he was in high school. I hope he can string together a bunch of wins and make a run at AA; Lee is looking fantastic and is definitely in the mix for the final 8.
  2. I met this young man last Spring and I have been trying to find results on his progress. In the rankings I only see 1 (9-3 dec over Boots). Is that his biggest win and who else has he defeated that is ranked in their SS? Thank you.
  3. I am 100% positive when a wrestler wins vs an out of state opponent (ranked or not) they INCLUDE them in their record. You can't have it both ways.
  4. I don't believe this type of thinking is prevalent though. I commend the individuals who have wrestled outside of our state but a loss is a loss. IMO
  5. If they have faced top talent there is no doubt it is a great accomplishment; if you haven't faced any wrestler ranked in the State or even the SS it is slightly devalued.
  6. JV 1st, then Varsity? What time will the introductions/festivities begin for varsity?
  7. Did Bradberry lose to Ramos 5-6 times that year? I believe they were his only losses.
  8. I believe this is going down Wednesday at Perry Meridian. Do we have any injuries on either team?
  9. Are all of the participating wrestlers from a given team in the High School district? If so should we expect bigger things from CG in the next few years?
  10. I have no idea if they can based on the rules and/or team philosophy but here are my thoughts just for fun. I believe there are 6-7 wrestlers who have a legit shot to take home the title, and 2-3 more that could make it under the lights. Garcia -- Although 126 is a meat grinder at Evansville (see post in State Rankings updated) he is at the top of the food chain and no reason to move. Rooks -- Very capable of winning at 126 but CE does not have a ranked wrestler at 120 and he is the defending State Champ at that weight. It would shock me but if he could qualify for 120 he would become the favorite. Viduya -- New Castle SS already has 7 ranked kids at 120, no reason to make it 8. Egil -- EMD has state ranked kids at 106, 113, 120, 132, 138 so there is no movement in that lineup. Poynter -- Portage has ranked wrestlers at 113 & 120 so dropping is not likely; 132 has 4 ranked kids at East Chicago so moving up would still present a realistic shot to advance to State. Smiley -- He has already dropped from 132 and only him and Alec are ranked at 126 in New Castle; no reason to move. Mills -- Brownsburg is similar to EMD in the fact they are loaded around him, no where to go. Mejia -- Fort Wayne is weaker at 120 vs 126 (based on rankings) and the team does not have a ranked wrestler at 120 currently. Has a victory this year over the #1 ranked Watts. Willis -- See notes on Mejia but substitute Evansville for Fort Wayne. Has a victory this year over the #3 ranked Fair. Once again I have no idea if any of these wrestlers can move per the rules or if the team will allow it BUT if it was possible I only see it making sense for a few.
  11. Based on current rankings -- the following weights/semi-states have 6+ ranked wrestlers. They are: 113, 120, 195 & 220 at New Castle, 170 at Fort Wayne, 126, 138 & 285 at Evansville, and 106 & 285 at East Chicago.
  12. Include Team State and no doubt there will be many changes. Of course that is assuming the ranking experts are able to get all the information.
  13. Nope, Mahern with a 1st period FALL I believe.
  14. Team scores — Crown Point 99 Roncalli 94.5 FW Snider 94.5 Carmel 91.5 Fiahers 87.5 Valpo 87.5
  15. At 126 your sleeper pick will have his chance to be noticed, he has Viduya 1st round
  16. Did they all go 4-0? Crazy to think 50% of the team goes undefeated and they don’t win it all.
  17. Not much chance Brownsburg will meet up with Harrison (WL) but Crider would be a strong match-up with Peterson.
  18. Just my opinion -- Best team 'potential' match Brownsburg vs EMD Best individual 'potential' match 106 -- Moran vs Cottey 113 -- Lowery vs Montgomery 120 -- Fair vs Peele 126 -- Garcia, Rooks, Mills, Poynter, Viduya, DeMien, Egil, Willis / I can't pick just one 132 -- Kreitzer vs Dickens 138 --- Mulkey vs Rumph 145 -- McIntosh vs Asbury 152 -- Washington vs Conley 160 -- B Lee (152) vs Mappes 170 -- Warren vs Brewer 182 -- Mahern vs Conde 195 -- Walton (182) vs Maceo 220 -- Boots vs Aiken 285 - Peterson vs Heinrichs
  19. I apologize in advance if I have missed the answers to my questions but I am unable to find the information. (1) When do the doors open for a regular spectator? In the past seating was an issue because of teams saving whole rows; will the upper deck be available again for viewing? (2) Are chairs allowed? It is a long day of standing when you can't find a seat. Thank you.
  20. We will probably have 1 of 2 things regarding 126 -- Either one of the wrestlers will distance themselves from the others becoming the favorite for State OR we will have A beats B who beat C who beat D who beat A. If a wrestler goes undefeated within this group they deserve an extra gift under the Christmas Tree when they get home.
