What is going on in out community? A coach is physically restrained in a coach v parent altercation at an IHSAA event and not removed from the tournament. A parent brings a backpack to a tournament with 2 handguns, 1 accidentally discharges in the crowded gym. A wrestler responds to a hard club by throwing a punch at ISWA state and is allowed to continue wrestling. His dad is asked to leave by a referee but refuses and remains without any consequences. Have things gotten worse or did I just have my head in the sand before?

Gotcha. Obviously IT isn’t my wheelhouse. What was different about this year that they didn’t have the bandwidth to stream from the school when they were able to do so in the past?

Its not a Warren/bandwidth problem. I’m having the same issue at home.

Sorry your kid is experiencing this and no doubt he’s tough. But please remember he’s not the only person that to injury time and it’s definitely not limited to State. -

Sometimes he took multiple injury times in the same match. I can’t decide if I respect his gameplay or loath it. -

Ok- I’ll play, even though I suspect your intent is to lure people into a conversation so you can belittle them by inferring they lack common sense. GA almost guarantees everyone is forced to line up early and wait in the cold for an hour or more and then see who can push past as many people as possible without knocking anyone over. Then when break time comes it’s time for round 2 of the pushing game. Here is the time when you insult my critical thinking followed by me not being surprised. Having a username that starts with Law is a lead balloon of a clue that being demeaning and dismissive is your go to. -

Now that is leading by example- by coach & wrestler. Well wishes for a full & speedy recovery to a great sportsman.

Not sure who started it- it goes way back, but it’s true that Mr Demarco was kicked out of regionals and banned from SS. Even though someone had to restrain coach Sessa with a body lock he was allowed allowed to finish coaching regionals and coach at SS. Don’t care who started it- all coaches should be held to a higher standard and if you can’t objectively coach your kid sit in the stands with the rest of the fans.

Might I suggest all schools that “assemble” aka recruit their teams compete in their own division. Level the playing field for teams that play by the rules. Get kids excited and amped up to compete again.

A team win isn’t impressive when you haven’t developed any wrestlers and instead cherry pick, aka recruit, them from other schools.

Looks like Johansen was named the new HC for Hobart. He was the obvious choice. Wonder if we can expect a coaching change at Lowell now that Stanley has announced his plan to attend Mt. Carmel.

I understand parents want to give their kids every advantage they can. If this is such a widely accepted practice, why are there still rules against it? Is it fair that one student has legitimate social, academic, and athletic reasons for wanting to transfer but has to give up a year of eligibility while time after time students at select schools transfer without losing eligibility? Let’s get rid of the facade of having this rule if they are not universally applied. Notice I’m not saying to level the playing field, because there are families that cannot afford to pick-up & move, but removing the rule barrier is a step in the right direction.

IHSAA only seems to pay attention to the when when it’s a female breaking the rules. Although in, all fairness, I think IHSA was just publicity criticizing for holding the girls to a higher standard as well. The difference is, in Illinois, people called them out on it.

Very different situation when it’s 1-2 studs deep at every weight class.
