    Can’t wait to watch.   Hope it’s a well balanced documentary.  Looking forward to learning how to redshirt and recruit without getting caught.

    Does anyone know if this headgear is approved by IHSAA ? Our coach is getting the run around from a few different people that should be able to give an answer.

    More protection than standard headgear. Trying our best to help prevent another concussion. Would like to use for practices and competition. He has used the LDR headgear and he did not like it last year. Since our dogs chewed the LDR headgear up ,  we are trying to get something new. Any other suggestions for a more protective headgear is welcome also.

    It probably doesn't matter , but is an interesting conversation too me . I don't see how balancing out some sectionals a little is a bad thing. It would give some kids a better chance to move on in the tournament and maybe light a fire in them. Which to me is a good thing for the kids and the sport over all.

    I have also done Oak Hill/Peru and Lafayette Jeff/Logansport.  They are much more balanced over the 10yr spread.
    The argument is that there is a success factor that helps build programs.  If a program can't have any success at the Sectional/Regional level that program will slowly die.

    If there is a balance at the Sectional level, more programs are able to have a chance at having success.  Success breeds success.
    I'm talking programs as a whole.  If you look at Lafayette Jeff Sectional:  Attica went from almost no program, sending nearly no one to North Montgomery Regional to a Class A State team once they were moved to Lafayette Jeff Sectional which is more balanced.  You could also look at the Western/Oak Hill programs for the same comparisons.  Those teams (Western/Oak Hill) continue to rebuild and have success.  Do you think if they had to go through a Sectional like Frankfort they would still have strong programs?

    Couple year's ago I brought up the idea of combining the Sectional and Regional Tourney into one tournament.

    I don't have the numbers in front of me, so don't nail me to exact details.....

    We have one of the largest regionals (most number of teams) and I'm thinking it's like 24ish teams.

    You'd have to have a round of 32 in theory....most weights have more than 8 ffts if you combine sectionals.  That would be a quick round.

    Seed top 12

    Friday night: Rat tail matches (I believe the number was around 10 matches total).  Then have the round of 16 right after.  If you lose any of those, you're done.

    Saturday morning run an 8 man tourney with wrestlebacks.

    When I looked at it I thought it would help with the ref shortage and make the state more money with less work.  It would also shorten the season a week, which might get us in the conversation of semi state wrestle backs down the road.

    The Pendleton Heights regional was pretty close to that this year, although maybe not quite as much so.  I think it was 39-17 (69.6% vs 30.4%).  But part of that was Cathedral getting 14 through themselves.  And multiple teams had down years in the Elwood sectional.  I don’t think it was quite that lopsided the last couple years at least.

    Since Zionsville moved to Crawfordsville the balance for 1st place is a more respectable 18-24. That’s a 43% win rate for 1st place for the Crawfordsville sectional.

    After compiling some data over the last 11yrs,  the Frankfort/Zionsville Sectional has completely dominated the Crawfordsville Sectional.  With the constant talk of growing our sport in our state, wouldn't it make sense to try and balance out the competition among Sectionals?  I know that talent and depth will fluctuate from time to time and the results can tip back and forth but a continuous domination should call for a change.  (More than just moving Zionsville over to Crawfordsville, as that didn't change results much)
    Are there any other cases throughout the state similar to this?  Any way, here is the data...

        TOTAL WRESTLERS ADVANCING TO SEMI-STATE FROM 2010-2020 FRANKFORT/ZIONSVILLE SECTIONAL 434 70.50% CRAWFORDSVILLE SECTIONAL 182 29.50%
    If you would like to see the year by year data I can post that as well.

    Frankfort Sectional has 41 Semi State Qualifiers vs Crawfordsville Sectional having 15.   Are there any other Sectionals that continue to dominate at Regional?  If so, why isn't there a change?  Before Zionsville moved over to Crawfordsville it was much worse.

    There’s also schools that are closer. We travel to Frankfort then to Crawfordsville. Pendleton is 5 minutes up I-69 from us and 7 from Fishers. In our case, that’s over an hour in time SAVINGS by rotating.

    not sure I’m for it but I wouldn’t complain personally. Now if we could discuss sectional competitive balance again, I’d be very interested....

    Just throwing out a new paradigm.  Im thinking outside the box.   Here's an idea and looking for open minded opinions.  Good or bad.
    Here's my idea: Rotating regionals.   Instead of having the same two sectionals going to the same Regional which is current state,  the new idea is to have every other year, move four of the sectional teams  or rotate to a different regional.  The benefit of this would be diversity and variety in the teams wrestling.  Consistently, there's a complaint that some regionals are stacked while others are soft.  Is it fair for the teams going to the tough regional to always have a tougher road to state while other teams get through Regionals easily?    So under the new plan, one year a team could hypothetically get the easier path with the weaker regional while the next year you have to go through a tougher one.    Regional locations can stay the same and four of the sections would always go to the same regional, but every other year there's a different sectional coming.    There's some pros and cons, including maybe a little more travel in some cases.  But this wouldn't be a monumental change and could be easily implemented.

    Ill use the teams from the East Chicago SS to represent one of the possible combinations of rotation.

    Current State  Year 1 (Odd numbered years)
    Crown Point = Crown Point and Laporte
    Penn =  Mishawka and Plymouth
    Hobart = Portage and East Chicago
    Logansport = Twin Lakes and Lafayette Jefferson

    Proposed Change Year 2 (even numbered years)
    Crown Point = Crown Point and Lafayette Jefferson
    Penn =Mishawaka and East Chicago
    Hobart=  Portage and Laporte
    Logansport= Twin Lakes and Plymouth

    Anyway,  I understand in wrestling formats, there is rarely a change and is very difficult to get inertia to change with the IHSAA and the coaches association,  but still we can brain storm and think of what possibly could be.   Would this make things better.  Maybe?  Note my combination is just one possible scenario.  Note it this also could be done with a 3 year rotation.
