  1. Ok well please don't take this serious. I did not put much thought into these silly names. My daughter was bored and I started saying funny names to get her to laugh. As bad as these are, I promise you this is nowhere even close to being the silliest thing Ive done to make her laugh. It wouldn't even crack the top 100!! This is the most interesting time to do pickems, because as predictable as some of these weights can be some years, they are just as unpredictable in others. One year you may get 7 winners and every guy you picked made it to the Bank. Then the next year you may pick 0 correct and only a few of them even made it to the Bank. Their has been a whole lot of predictable weight classes in the past decade or so. It's pretty easy to do when you have All Time greats like the Tsirtsis and Lee brothers and then you have Angel Escobedo,Chad Red, Steven Micic, Drew Hughes, Shawn Streck, Wesley Bernard,Gelen Robinson,Tommy Forte,Blake Rypel,Brock Hudkins and Andrew Davison. And now we have Mason Parris and Brayton Lee. So it didn't take much knowledge of the sport to pick By of these guys as the winner.I don't believe it will ever be as many "locks" as their has been since Alex Tsirtsis came through. Not only did everyone in Indiana know he was gonna win it all no matter what team they were from, NOONE even thought he'd be scored on so any time an opponent would even touch a leg or literally show any fight whatsoever the whole arena would erupt. I don't think we will see many more years like that or some like the ones of these other guys either. So take your 2 "locks" this year and appreciate them because I don't think we will see anywhere even close to the amount we've seen over the past 10-12 years. Good luck to everyone who has a son or friend in the tournament, this could possibly be the best times of his life. ENJOY 106- Jacob " A bunch walked away losers but" Moran 113- Brayden Curtis "in session" 120- Sammy "last year wasn't" Fair 126- Asa Garcia "in the finals" 132- Graham "cracker" Rooks 138- Kris "shake your" Rumph 145- Kasper "not so friendly" Mcintosh 152- Brayton "could win it with his eyes closed probab" Lee 160- "go" Diego "go" Lemley 170- Zack Fattore " them to pieces" 182- Nathan Walton "the world were they thinkin" 195- Lucas "i can" Davison 220- Mason "of God" Parris 285- Isaiah "I'll take a large fry and a" McWilliams
  2. For some weird reason I thought you were from Avon. And I know you said most sectionals but I can see this one doing as good or better than the other 2 you mentioned is why I replied.
  3. Well I do believe their is one more sectional that would win quite a few matches against the winners of all of these sectionals. and a few runner-ups wouldn't do too bad either. 113- Spears 34-0 120- Antunez 27-1 126- C. Rooks 32-1 132- G. Rooks 34-0 D. Craig 26-2(both losses came to Columbus East) 138- Combest 33-1 145- Schoenegge 30-4 160- South 34-1 170- Kleinhenz 33-3 Beineke 26-6
  4. Please dont fall into this SAVAGE comment lol. Obviously just trolling. Triple B knows more about wrestling then most people on this site. That being said here is my picks 106- Alstott pins Jeff winner 113- Brown pins Jeff winner 120- Combs pins Jeff winner 126- Jones pins Jeff winner 132- Santos pins Sr winner 138- Kervin pins Jeff winner 145- Sellmer pins Jeff winner 152- Josh Foster pins Jeff winner 160- Schank pins Jeff winner 170- Fuller(I believe he places this year) pins Sr winner 182- Mosely Majors Jeff winner 195- Sonner pins Jeff winner 220- Sisk pins Jeff winner 285- Goff pins Jeff winner I promise you that noone wants to draw into Kameron Fuller. If you dont know who he is or haven't had the pleasure of watching him wrestle then you are missing out.I dont believe ive seen very many wrestlers with hips as good as his.he gets out of spots that make you wonder for days how he did it. His match against Beineke in the Conference Finals was nuts.it looked like Fuller was just playing around with him for the first 2 periods. It was probably the worst whippin (MMA STYLE) that i have ever seen in my 25 years being around the sport. He was slamming(legally),throwing, squeezing, crossfacing, twisting and everything in between. I even told one of Jeff Highs coaches that Beineke is going to be so sore tomorrow that he may not be able to get out of bed.well the third period came and it was pretty much the total opposite of the first 2 periods. Fuller layed on the bottom for 2 minutes(he did have a 12 point lead i believe) while Beineke got his pay back by doing just about everything that was done to him in the first 2 periods. It showed so much toughness. I dont believe there are very many guys in the state that wouldnt have been mentally and physically broken. This will be a good one the next time around if they meet in the regionals.
  5. This could be possibly dumbest comment i have seen on this site. This is one of the very few wrestlers in the STATE that has like 10 different moves from every position he is in. :
  6. I think you mean dont lock up with ONE of them. Their is one on the team that if you lock up with him you will not like the results, no matter who you are. But to say something about locking up as a team might be going just a weee bit overboard.??
  7. Well I see both sides of this debate. Their are obviously some Pros and Cons of both. I don't think that if you eliminate the 106 pound weight class then it would be hurting the sport tremendously. Not only because of all the excitement that the smaller guys have given us consistently over the years(everyone wants to be in their seats before it starts, instead of leaving when it starts like they do the big guys) but like someone mentioned earlier about kids too small to play basketball or Football can be a wrestling superstar at 106 even if they only weight around 100 pounds.but if you take 106 out and make it 113 or above then that 100 pounder probably wouldn't even make varsity and if they did would be very undersized and would not be very successful in most cases. I believe that maybe instead of eliminating 220 then maybe make it something like 195(or even 200),then have one anywhere from 230-240 and then make the big guys like it used to be I believe where their is no max at Heavyweight.this would maybe bring the big football lineman out that has his future set on playing College football and wants to get in better shape and work on his footwork but does not want to lose much weight because it's better to be as big and as strong as possible when you are a lineman. I really won't be upset at all if these weights stay the exact same. This is the best sport in the world and although Most would like to see wrestlebacks at semi state, other then that I believe we are very fortunate to be able to witness one of the most exciting State Tournaments in the entire world.
  8. Tristan Sellmer majored #6 Jake Schoenegge 12-4 Sellmer completely dominated this match from start to finish. This was one of the top performances I've seen all season. He looked really good on his feet getting a few very nice overpowering takedowns. He looked very very good in the top position turning him twice I believe which hasn't happened too many times over the past few seasons.and he did not get rode very long against a very tough guy from the top position. It's scary to think that Sellmer is only gonna get even better and his timing is gonna get back to normal every match he wrestles since he was out a little while dealing with an injury and he hasn't had very many matches. Obviously he is not a sleeper because he placed 5th last year but I think he has just as good as chance as anyone to reach the State Finals. I believe he can beat anyone right now in the State except maybe Kasper McIntosh but I think he can keep it close.
  9. Oh man.thats a long embarrassing, miserable, ride home..and I bet they didn't feed him lmao
  10. Very smart call. Not only for his benefit but for the team race also. I hope to see him out there tomorrow because I enjoy watching him wrestle. If he ever decides to be as mean and ferocious as his brother Graham then he may not lose again lol. Good Luck tomorrow and more importantly hope all kids are safe and healthy.
  11. Wow I was worried about them missing senior night because of Conference. I'm very glad they got to do it. Of course I expected nothing less from Brownsburg and their class act Coaching Staff..some people may think moving it up one day isnt a big deal or much of a problem but I can tell you as a former wrestler that just the having one less day on a short notice to make weight can cause problems for alot of wrestlers. I also know a whole lot of coaches that would not like to face a really good team like Columbus East without having that extra day to prepare or talk about strategy and/or who to bump and etc. especially when they are ranked #1 at the time. So Kudos to Brownsburg and Columbus East also and everyone involved in making this happen for them special Seniors. Also a quick question for Chris Cooper. Obviously the main thing that I care about first and foremost in any kid on any team is their health. So was just wondering if you knew if Cayden Rooks was resting and trying to feel better so he can wrestle at Conference tomorrow or did he already decide he wasn't going to? Thanks.
  12. I'm sure their will be some people(more than likely old timers) that did not like the Pat on the butt. I don't think it was anything to try and humiliate Jack Servies I just think he is having fun and loving the sport. Everyone who has ever been around him or knows anything about him knows he is the nicest and most respectful kid out there. It just looks to me like he is bored. Servies could place in state this year and he made him look like a sectional qualifier.I think he may be one of the most College ready that I've seen in his Senior year. Remember Nick Lee doesn't count because he wasnt a senior in High School lol.
  13. Let's just have Jerry bring us some Zaxby sandwiches lol
  14. Ya know.I truly thought about that and I know that Lee missed some time and even tho I was never a Chad Red fan I know greatness when I see it(I'm a frustrated dolphins fan that has to reluctantly agree that Brady is the best Qb ever?) and I respect him but I couldn't find it in me to discredit Reds top game that much.I believe he was so underrated in the Top position because he never really had many people make him HAVE to ride them. Also another reason I do not think him missing some time hurt him at all he destroyed everyone else he faced and showed no signs of being rusty or out of shape..matter of fact he majored a State Champion in the semis I believe. It was Brendan Black who was really dominant and woulda gave Red his best match if Lee wasn't there.Black was one of the best in the top position also. He turned pretty much everyone he wrestled and Lee didn't show no signs of rust or fatigue. I don't care if Lee wrestled 50 matches that season he was not gonna beat Brendan Black much worse then he did if any. Lee wrestled 17 matches before he got to Red, but I'd bet 8-10 of his matches were against really tough opponents that let him get plenty of mat time in before he got to Red.And who knows how long he had been practicing before he came back.same situation as now his partners are as good as they come.I usually think missing part of a season hurts wrestlers but I don't think it mattered in this spot because of when the match took place. I don't think very many wrestlers in the history would be able to not only escape from Red but not many would even be able to stay off of their back and out of that nasty cradle that he has hit so many nationally ranked guys in it including Lee and I believe he pinned one of the top ranked wrestlers in the nation at the time Luke Pletcher also with the cradle. I probably sound ridiculous saying this and I mean absolutely no disrespect to either guy either and It is kind of weird to me for some reason and maybe it's because I did see them wrestle each other in person at the bank but for some reason this still gives me the feeling of a High School match. Lol I think after this first match between them in college then it will finally start to get the feel of College Wrestling.
  15. I think it would depend on if he got the gig or not on how bad I'd make fun of him. If he didnt then id roast him all day. If he did then I really couldn't say much and wouldnt blame him for going because all hed have to say is something like "just because you are so ugly and can't get a modeling gig does t mean you have to be jealous of me getting one" lol then hed be able to drop the mic and id never be able to say a bad word again to him ????
  16. I have been really thinking and wondering about this match, and this could be one of the dumbest posts I have ever done because I may be higher on how important confidence is in wrestling than anyone I know. Just because I have seen so many wrestlers wrestle TOTALLY different matches when they had confidence compared to when they didn't have a whole lot of confidence. It is like a night and day difference sometimes. I just don't know if this still applies as much or not the higher level you get to. I honestly think Lee has looked better in college so far in limited time and if you didn't follow these guys in indiana and watch their finals match then most would definitely take Lee. But what I'm thinking is when a wrestler wrestles with much more confidence than he normally does it can make you more aggressive and you will open up your offense and attack more. Here is my question and I really shoulda did a poll to see because I'm really curious what people think.but never have done one on here. Does the fact that Chad Red beating Nick Lee just a few years ago in the Finals of state have any effect at all on how this match would go? Surely Red is really confident that he can beat him because he did it not long ago. and you know Red has to also be thinking he has improved more than Lee since then because he has had more College Practices and matches than Lee has.he wasn't so sure he could beat Lee at the time IMO(so don't roast me). I know when it comes down too it it may not matter at all that he has beaten Lee at his best at the time. but I know when I wrestled someone I knew was one of the best in the state(or nation really) for the first time then I had some doubts in my head and I didn't have all the confidence I usually had when I'd hit a move or wrestle someone period. But the next time I wrestled them after I did beat them the first time then I knew I'd beaten them before and I could do it again but probably by more points because I believed i practiced harder than anyone at the time and I felt no one would improve more than me because that's what motivated me knowing that if someone improved more or practiced harder than me then he would beat me next time, so my confidence was sky high that I could take him down(or hold him down) and beat him worse. But on the other side of the equation what is Nick Lee feeling/thinking when they wrestle? Is he more confident this time and motivated because he wants to avenge the loss and prove to Indiana fans and coaches that he is the better Indiana recruit? Or will he be less confident knowing that as dominant as he was to everyone his Junior year in HS that he couldn't do too much against Chad Red and Red has had to get A lot better since then being in Nebraska's room the past year and a half(don't know exactly how long) and knowing how good of coaches he has including his dad(Red Sr) that also helped coach him when he was younger? Either way I really hope it happens this year because they are both 100℅ Healthy and are very young and were both awesome recruits and are learning a whole lot and are getting significantly better every single live College match. It will be exciting no matter when or where it takes place but I'd love for it to really have something on the line during it like in the finals of a tournament or in a really tight team race just to add to the emotions and atmosphere. Thoughts please. And sorry this is so long and may not even have any effect at all on the outcome when they wrestle next time. But This is a message board and instead of me wondering about this all by my lonesome I have you great "Indianamatters" to ask and hear what y'all think about it.lol. wow I really came up with that name for us. I like it.we need this on a shirt and I'd buy it . #IndianaMatters
  17. So you are saying he missed weight and his family made the drive for nothing??? Or did he end up making weight?
  18. I did some research and Garcia wrestled a few of these guys. beat #2 Disabato(got 4th) 2-1 beat#5 Carmany (got 7th) 8-6 beat #16 Walczac(dnp) 8-4 Lost to #10 in nation Decatur 14-5 in the Finals #1 Burnett placed 3rd lost 13-4 to champ Beat#5(IN)Poynter 9-3,beat #2 Disabato 3-2 #5(Indiana) Poynter placed 6th lost to #2 Disabato 5-3 and unranked Massey 2-1 #6 Thomas placed 8th got pinned by Champion lost to #5 Carmany 18-4 #15 Chapman did not place only lost to Champion 9-3 #22 Zahoransky did not place #25 Donathan did not place Asa getting to finals shows that he has definitely reached the top of the tier just below B. Lee and M.Paris. Can make an argument that he is in serious discussions for the 3rd best I've right now. Great kid and Amazing wrestler. Keep up the good work TeamGarcia To say this is one of the toughest High School tournaments in the nation is not that far fetched. When ranked guys from Ohio are not even placing top 8 and one of best wrestlers in Indiana at 126 placed lower than what he is ranked shows it is just insanely competitive. It looks more like a tough Semi state Tournament or better. Id love to see Mater Dei,Cathedral, Brownsburg and Perry Meridian try and get in this.
  19. Lol I promise you if you get it you will win the 'most liked content" for the day and maybe a few days after lol?
  20. So maybe you can get access to a video of this match? Lol
  21. Thanks a lot. What happened was after I got done I started looking back at who could be bumped up weight classes and changed it but left the same score lol. Thanks again.
  22. One of my all time favorites has to be when a wrestler told Mitch Robb after he was a pound or 2 overweight(approximately) that he took a shower that morning so he must've accidentally drank some of the water from the shower. ??? This came from a wrestler that was good enough to place in state if obviously his head was in the right spot lol.
  23. Was told that it would be at Jeffersonville Friday night at 5 pm. But Columbus East had Senior Night scheduled against Brownsburg Friday so that would be awful especially with that great group of Seniors they have. They deserve to have a special farewell night for them. Not too many teams have a couple of Seniors that have a really good chance of placing really high and possibly winning a State Title. And they'd get to wrestle the #1 team in state. I really wanna see conference but u hope they can figure out a way to have it and still give them seniors a special night in front of their friends and families.
  24. Any ideas or rumors of when and/or where this may take place at? Thanks
