Is that the same dude that got on here and gave us a dooms day prediction when we were discussing weather kids should wrestle during Covid or not?

Yes, Matt I'm the same dude. But I wasn't talking about High School wrestling. I was talking about whether Colleges could stay open.

Oh, and I'm also the same dude that sits next to you at Cobra and talks to you about Covid just in case you didn't know ;)

Our former SSQ 106 didn't come out and it sucks.. He lost to morton at SS last season.. Yes Gavyn def grew is undefeated so far along with 132 Thrine add 220 Taylor.. Your boy looked nails when they Wrestled at NC earlier this season.. Tall 106, was impressed big time.

Yeah, I saw all three up close. That's a solid trio. And your thread earlier about Brevan's match with Keegan pretty much summed it up ;) He's a clearly going to be a handful for anyone.

    Good luck to your guys.

That dagestani handcuff and Tilts are money.. That cross wrist ride and Fairfax (thread the needle tilt) was my thing, Coach peck actually named it after me at NC during his tenure..I have noticed tilts and legs are big big nowadays..I seen your boy wrestle and he's a 🔨 and some! Best of luck to you and your son.

    That tilt is tough.

Thank you. Maybe one of these days he'll get to wrestle a 106 from NC ;)  I thought maybe Whitehead would come in at around that weight. Turns out, he grew a bit.

Hello , gsmith58 and wrestling fans.  I have to Respectfully disagree.  I like the Feeler kid and Hope he can get to State for ALL the Little Schools.

I am a numbers person & Realist. Most of todays youth are focusing on 1 sport and putting their Heart and Soul into it. The Standout 3/4 Sport

Athletes are Minimal today!!  Now with, that some substance on it.

      1) Feeler has a LOSE to Schreck- CC  6-2 , he is ranked like #17 in the 106 class.

      2) Schreck LOSE to N. Smith-SP 4-0 in the Old Capital Tourney past Saturday. Smith-SP is ranked #6 in 106.

      3) Feeler made the EVSS ticket rd last yr losing to Kyler West -EV Rtz Mem. who went on to Place 6th

      4) Top 8 in the EV Semi State is the Final 32 kid in each class.

      5) I think Crawford County's SOS is no where near what Programs have around the Mooresville or Evansville Regionals.

He is a Good wrestler , hope the draw lines up to his Favor. Good Luck to all the young Men in these Crazy times!  BT19

I suspect you know that's my son in 2), but if not over the years he's wrestled probably 60% or more of the kids on ranking list. Donnie is as tough as anyone. I kid you not.

The fact that Donnie isn't wrestling the top tier kids regularly is probably the reason he's not on the list. My guess is that he took a early loss to Schreck and hasn't had an opportunity to show himself since. At 106 practically anyone could beat anyone on a given day or even on the basis of the first takedown.

Losing to Schreck is not a bad loss and probably resulted from a cross wrist ride. I've seen it happen.

I fully understand everything you have said, especially the large gatherings we are starting to see.

However, I'm not sure I comprehend how these kids being kids will lead to programs being terminated. Are you basically saying that the gathering will lead to increased cases and thus a school being closed down to virtual learning, then that leading to sports being suspended or terminated?

Yes. I should have made it clear. I'm simply pointing out the budget constraints that many schools are under. I'm not justifying what any one school does or doesn't do under those constraints.

I don't like it anymore than anyone here. And, I would agree that these circumstances can provide cover for decisions that have nothing to do with a virus.

Could you explain how the athletes are the reasons for programs to be dropped? I'm curious what the athletes at Iowa did to cause their programs to be dropped or at Stanford or at ODU for wrestling.

Sure. Perhaps my post wasn't clear. I'm not making a political statement and certainly I'm not blaming athletes or students in general.

I know you want your kids to wrestle, believe me I want my kid to wrestle. They've all worked incredibly hard. My post was an observation.

Having worked at an institution I am keenly aware, having watched colleagues lose their jobs, that no one wants to go totally online and/or shut down programs. Most schools like mine are largely driven by tuition dollars. Shutting down would simply be a matter of public health.

I will agree that students just want normal and who in their right mind would blame them. They're kids. That's what they are supposed to do. And, unfortunately, I think ultimately that is what they are going to do.

I don't believe you can stop an 18 years old from being an 18 year old. And, in those circumstances you aren't going to stop an infectious virus from being an infectious virus. I have a difficult time seeing how that has anything to do with officials, lawsuits, or politics.

I can't even begin to tell you how much we've done to try and protect and provide a normal and safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff. That can all go out the window with 'one' on or off-campus event. How and where do universities safely quarantine a large group of infected students?

We all want normal, but that's isn't where we are.

no, that's not right.  its in the hands of politicians and officials worried about fall out with lawyers.  its not in the hands of 18-20 year olds who want to compete and live a normal life devoid of media and political opinions....

    We will have to disagree.

This definitely a very slippery slope for college presidents to navigate at this time. But what they do or dont do can be easily justified by using the virus as the reason. That is the scary part to me.

Yep. A lot can be covered under that umbrella.

However, a large part of what happens to the schools/programs are in the hands of student athletes and the students in general. And, these are 18-20 year old kids that will do the things 18-20 year old kids do.

Looks like Oxford is in the lead.

Regardless... I think that we will have a vaccine before spring. With this said.... people on Fox News will have you believe that we are going to have one next month. People on CNN will have you believe that we will have one in 2022. It is what it is. I stand by my prediction of a pre-spring vaccine.

I never thought I'd spend so much time watching the latest on vaccines and therapeutics. I just hope when they find one (or five) effective ones they have the logistics worked out better than the testing.
