Looks like "official" brackets are out on Track (caveat, didn't check all of them). bout dang time! What other sport has to wait until the day before to know the matchups? Understand for those that delayed seeding meetings, but otherwise, just don't get it.

Man, this comes to mind :
Seriously though, given the position this is at now, I agree, the logical conclusion is to have it at Ft Wayne or Evansville. No way it's feasible to move it or keep it in the Indy area as stated. Ship has sailed.
Realize the NBA schedule change was out of the IHSAA's control and lots of $$$ involved. However, I still think this could have been planned better and definitely communicated better. Maybe the reporter in the earlier article left things out or Neiding from the IHSAA was misquoted. Either way not a good optic IMO. I still say it's par for the course, 1st round not scored, "ticketgate", having to wait until late Friday night to get Saturday tickets, then system doesn't work... I will stop know, there are others, but all seem to demonstrate lack of planning, communication & execution. Just my .02c
Lastly, hoping it's smooth sailing from here and folks can purchase the stream without a Flo subscription!

Interesting article. So Neiding from the IHSAA says, Gainbridge is home for basketball and that's where they want to be. But, for Wrestling, people are just going to have to travel for a year. WOW, right there in "print". IHSAA doesn't give 2 you know whats about Wrestling. Par for the course...

Nice to see IU pull it off! I didn't think they would and glad I was wrong. Also thought G Rooks win over #22 Miller at 141 was a solid win.

Maybe just me, but don't care for the concurrent tournament idea at all and don't think it's feasible. Not sure what the IHSAA would say about it either since girls wrestling isn't sanctioned yet. Not sure what sectional is done by 1:30, Regional, maybe, but no sectional I have ever attended. It's usually a pretty long day, especially for sectionals with 10 or more teams.

I thought Gilcher at 157 & Bulluck at 285 had nice wins over ranked guys.

Agree that IU seems to be getting more competitive lately, but if OSU wrestles their top guys, IU will be lucky to win a match. Hope I am wrong. Anyone know why Washington didn't wrestle Midlands?
-
I don't think IU beats Maryland or Purdue. Lineup changes or injuries could change my opinion. Wrestlestat has Maryland winning and I think some of the IU bonus points VS Purdue are a little suspect. Guess we will see!

pinned Purdue Poly Tech’s Silas Foster in overtime after a wild 10-10 score through six minutes in the finals.
If that would have been in the finals of the Madison County Tournament today at say 220, the match would have been stopped after the 2 was awarded with the opponent on his back. Ref seemed to indicate match was over after the 2? SMH....
At 120, NC SS #8 & #1 seed Ezra Fye lost first round 5-4 to Madison-Grants Haisley in a very close exciting match. Fye then lost to Lapel's Buzan 6-1 in conso's & won the 5th place match by fall.

No all teams don't face the same challenges. Specifically when you have Football players playing in state finals.
Problem solved. Updated rankings have neither team in the top 10. You are also right, only 12 teams total and 1 in 3A played in the football state finals. However, health & weight management are faced by all. Good luck with both this season.

All teams face these same challenges. Franklin Community wrestles a tougher schedule. Many of their losses are to higher ranked 3A and 4A schools. Whiteland's only other ranked win is 1A #8 team who Franklin Community beat as well. Common opponents and duals in general are tough to compare due to matchups and depth to bump wrestlers. Honestly, based your logic, if they aren't a top 10 team than neither is Whiteland.
Also, your wrestler technically did not bump up 2 weight classes. e.g. He normally wrestles 120. Weighed in at 120.5. Now he is a 126 for this dual so can bump 1 weight class to 132. For the record, no connection to either program at all.

I would add Cowan to the list as well. Definitely a strong regional and should be interesting & fun to watch!

FWIW, on the B1G+ stream, they mentioned a lot of the Ohio State guys were dinged up. Didn't say anything concrete, just mentioned his elbow had been bandaged/wrapped and hoped he just needed a little time to heal up. The new rules for true freshman do give teams more flexibility on match lineups and red shirt options. Be interesting to see how things play out.

Thanks for sharing this! Enjoyed the videos and channel. Nice to see the coverage for the east central Indiana area.
Yes, Dave Cloud has and continues to contribute a lot to the sport. Many years ago, when there weren't as many clubs or academies around, he would welcome wrestlers from all over to the room during the off season which was not common back then. Have a lot of respect for him and the program!

Nowaczyk bumped up from 120 to 132 to replace Baca and lost to DeMarco.
Uh, that's not legal. Technically, had to be a 126 wrestler for this dual and weigh in over 120. Can only bump up 1 weight class.

Middle school sports aren't under the IHSSA. IHSAA is only for high school sports. Middle school "season" isn't consistent across the state either nor are weight classes. I assume that is what you were referring too. Sunday is likely the day due to gym/facility availability.

I am glad there is a vote for a spot. If you are going to just go by numbers, then do it. The points system is very good and proven to find the top teams for the tournament, but not necessarily the best top to bottom. Not a knock and just my opinion. It's based on an individual tournament, not dual format where matchups and bumping come into play. Anecdotally, there have been many cases in the past where a team had more points and was beaten in a dual that season and the following season by team(s) who weren't considered to get in. This vote in spot along with the remaining spot for the best performing in season team, helps address that and any "scoring anomalies". All 3 combined, points, vote, & in season performance, seems to be a good all around approach given the limitations and situations the dual team tournament faces.

Blast double ala Jordan Burroughs is my vote.

Thought it was a pretty entertaining dual overall. South had a nice OT win. At 174 if Null hadn't given up the late reversal on the edge, wouldn't have been a major. He was going for it though after reversing Washington to his back so hard to criticize I guess. Match would have been tied 16-16. Not sure on criteria who would have won.
Not sure Purdue beats Maryland. Probably another close B1G basement dual. haha
