  1. Al Smith listed first.
106- #2 Jones vs #3Campbell (Jones 3-2 ot) I have to trust the rankings bout this could go either way.

113- #4 Lewis vs #2Rioux  (4-2 Rioux) Rioux only loses to Dickman instate.

120- #2 Jendreas vs #8 Henderson (Jendreas by fall) Gavin remains dominant.
126- #2 Hawkins vs #1 in KY Raney (Raney by fall) kid is super slick

132- #4 Demarco (who might be the second best in the state and can make a run at Hockaday) vs #1 in KY Raney part 2 (Raney gets pressed early wins 12-5)

    138- #2 (soon to be #1 after beating Kyrel 6-4) Shepherd vs # 7 Syra (Shepherd 5-1)

    144- #1 Courtney vs KY 20-0 Jenkins (5-2 Courtney)

150- #1 Kresja vs # unranked Vanover (Hunter May fell ill so 1 v 2 doesn’t happen, so Kresja by fall)

157- #2 Braubender vs a very accomplished Griffin from IL. (Griffin 3-0)

165- #1 Rinehart vs #17 Hallet (Rinehart by tech)

175- #3 Costello vs #5 Emerine (Emerine in 3-2 TB)

190- #2 Penola vs IHPO champ from KY  Kiser (Kiser 1-0)

215- #1 Clark vs #14 (grossly underrated Terry) (Terminator gonna terminate Clark by fall).
285- #1 Clark vs KY Guillame holds a state title in KY. (Clark in OT)

final score Al Smith wins 35-21

  2. I have a few questions on this one…

Are they scheduled to face off in the regular season ?

Will one bump up (Leavell) seems silly, or down (Schaefer), no small task, but a better option than up.
Or, will they give us a show a la Lee vs Red high school part 2.?
    And lastly, who wins ?

My prediction: Both of those throwback type wrestlers don’t budge and stay on a collision course only to wrestle under the lights and for all of the marbles. A perfect scenario is both wrestlers entering with an insert 45+ wins to zero losses, but depending on that heavy Brownsburg schedule if Hockaday drops one, or we find out splitting time with a pigskin vs. specializing in one sport is the better of the two routes.
If they meet once then I give the nod to Thrine because he’s an upset machine, but if twice then Hockaday days what he does and learns from his loss to get the W!

    thoughts ?

Who do we have pulling some upsets? Great group of indiana hammers going.

I mean how deep is that weight class if Leavell is #24?

Will always be a fan no matter what singlet! Would have loved to see him compete in indiana, but mt carmel has a top notch program and just got a top notch family! Go kick some butt big E!

    It’s a different era…

  6. I created a bracket of 4 time state champs  (exception of Nick Lee) and the most recent 3 timers and made it a single elimination bracket (sorry i couldn’t figure out how to fit the bracket on one snipit)with everyone the same weight. No consideration to college, and strictly their junior or senior years of high school. Top 4 can only place. I also used a randomizer to mix up the bracket. Attached is the bracket roster and bracket. Fill out it to the best of your ability.

HS GOAT has to be Jason Tsirtsis. 3 years without getting scored on offensively, and the only high school wrestler in Indiana history to beat a D1 NCAA Champion while still in high school. Jason was multiple levels above everyone in the country his senior year, destroying guys like zain retherford. I'm pretty sure Jason manhandled the #2 kid in the country at his weight class by 14 points at the Dapper Dan too. We've seen many guys win Fargo, Super 32, make a world team, win 4 state titles, etc. But we have never seen anyone match the level of dominance Jason had as a senior in high school. That ceiling of skill is yet to be reached by any other high schooler. The highest ceiling we have seen was when Jason controlled Darrion Caldwell. Until someone matches that, HS GOAT belongs to Jason.

Valid argument, and I feel like T-shirts is Mendez in disguise or vice versa. Jason probably has the best high school resume.

  8. Which high school has the most D1 All Americans in the modern era (1980-present)? I know Griffith has a few thanks to Angel, Alex, and I believe Andre as well? MD has 2 with Coughlin and Lee with 2 more who might place in the future. I am sure Cathedral has a few as well ?
