    Question for Coaches

    1. yes 2. Two of the Three qualifiers wrestled mostly year round. 3. Have never had an in season only wrestler go to state 4. Even once a week from March thru end of June can do something for you

  4. Freestyle and folk style are two different styles yes, but who at jesses age is doing what he is doing? Who is competing with the goats of the sport that hasn’t even hit 19 yet? jesse is amazing in neutral which I don’t see changing at all in college. Add on riding time from his rides? Definitely a contender.

  5. I've not heard about Lee going 133. I've read that he has said he's a career 125 lber and that he walks around at 130-132. Lee will be at 125 for the Hawkeyes next year. As far as Mendez goes, freestyle and folkstyle are two different animals, especially at the NCAA level. I think if tOSU plugs in Mendez at 141 as a true freshman, he will take some lumps. We all saw how Micic did when he bumped to 141 this past season. If the plan is to wrestle 141, then I believe he would benefit from a redshirt season to build his body into full sized 141. I think a folkstyle match between him and Bouzakis would likely be a very close match that would go either way. I think those two will probably wrestle off for 133 and hit the opens at 133 to decide who gets the spot. Or they could both redshirt.

  6. Awesome accomplishment. Another former Memorial wrestler(Blake Brown) just captured World super heavyweight blue belt Judo championship in California. Won 4 matches(3 via submission) all while Not surrendering a single point. congrats to both

  7. I think we might be jumping a bit ahead here with the 4xer and Champ as a true frosh talk. Jesse is great and will continue to be. But he's taken losses to guys he may see again. I don't think there is a direct line to connect the match with Gross to being a Senior World Team Member. Lots of land minds in between. I like the fact that he went for it and held his own, however. I think he may go his freshman year if he can wrestle 133. 141 may be a bit much, going back to the strength that's already been mentioned. To go 133 he'd probably be most physically ready, but that class is loaded. RBY, Fix, Arujau to name a few. The competition, is easier at 141, it seems, but will he be physically ready? I still think he redshirts. OSU doesn't have a team ready to compete at the highest level next year. No need to push Jesse or any of the other incoming frosh.
