  3. Bloomington or Seymour Semi-state has a nice ring to it. Would make things easier as far as travel even if we don’t change any of the teams headed to the Semi-states.

  4. I agree the geography should be a big factor. There are ways to use geography and still even out the semi-states. It'd upset the apple cart too much, I get it. I know it's not going to happen. Still think in a sport where we crown a TEAM champ based off of INDIVIDUAL results, we should want the top 8 guys in the state standing on the podium at the end of the year. In order to do that, we'd need to rebalance the semi-states, AND add wrestle backs at semi-state and state. This isn't track or swimming where a qualifying time better than another site's state champ means you get in. If you get a bad draw at a loaded semi-state, you're out. Useless to your team moving forward, unable to score points. OR--my favorite idea--have an actual all-in team state tournament again. OR--switch to class wrestling This is just one reason.

  5. If we are running an all-in, single class tournament, host sites and who goes where should be based on geography. Hopefully Clint isn't sore about me moving in on his question:}

  7. The Fort Wrestling Facility should be coming online at the beginning of June barring no construction issues. We will be hosting live wrestling nights, local academies, meet the coach sessions, open facilities, camps, and clinics. For June and July we have Tom Ryan, Logan Stieber, and Purler camps coming your way and sign ups are open. Check us out at https://thefortwrestling.com. You can also see the progress of the build out at https://www.facebook.com/wrestlefortway and Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/wrestlefortway/ The whole goal is to bring more training opportunities to the area. Any support is appreciated.

  8. With much of my extra time these past few months (bits here and there) I was kicking around the idea of rotating the semi-states clockwise about a county so it is more like true quarters of the state in order to rebalance the schools coming from each semi-state. I'm attaching what I cam up with here in case anyone cares to peruse. Semistate redistribution Idea.docx A couple caveats: 1) The purpose was to rebalance the semi-states and maybe rebalance some regionals. 2) Don't get caught up in who is "hosting", I just did that for ease of identification of sectionals 3) There's some big changes in this and I know people who get moved into a "harder" sectional, regional, or semi-state will think it's a dumb idea, but I do think it solves a balance issue and would lead to a better state finals overall. 4) I did this solo, so good chance there are some errors with teams either not mentioned or being repeated on accident, just let me know if you find them. 5) Obviously, I had to get creative with Regional Pairings to make them as even as possible. One comes out pretty weak overall, but the other 15 are pretty even overall given geographical constraints. The final breakdown of Team state eligible teams in each semi-state if we redrew the lines would be as follows: East Chicago: 4A-8 3A-14 2A-20 1A-26 Total: 68 Ft. Wayne: 4A-9 3A-13 2A-21 1A-23 Total: 66 New Castle: 4A-10 3A-17 2A-19 1A-20 Total: 66 Evansville: 4A-8 3A-16 2A-21 1A-22 Total: 67 This is MUCH more balanced than our current semi-states. Let me know what you think! Possible? Dumb Idea? Does it help solve a problem we currently have? Are there better solutions with less upheaval to traditional sectional rivalries? All items for discussion.

  9. Thank you all for the kind words! Ben Davis is going in a different direction, but that doesn't change what those boys are doing. That program is on the RISE and those boys are hungry. I cant wait to watch their continued success on and off the mats.
